Nothing wrong in this video (besides takeoff :P) he was just doing aerobatics. Notice the smoke system he has installed. Im no RC pilot but I do have a PPL and I couldn't find anything wrong.
Yeah to me it looked like the CG was messed up, so whenever the plane came to a certain turning the point, the dynamics would screw up causing it to do funky flips.
c.g was way of servos were very slow and sluggish and the piper cub doesnt fly very well to start with so yeh and wats with "internal engine problem" its either rich lean or overhot and fucked
Too much throttle - way too much power. The cub models all seem to have large power plants. I've seen many lost on take off due this. Ground loop etc. As for engine issue no biggie.
This cub has plenty of power; not to scale at all. The cub should have a 1 to 10 thrust to weight ratio. This unit has 1 to 1. The ailerons could flutter and depart with more flight time, maybe the entire empenage. It looks silly as well. Put a smaller motor in this poor airplane.
im with rcav8or1, that cub has too much power, you should never be able to jerk a piper cub up off of the ground like that! i doubt the cg was off at all, these cubs aren't very sensitive to cg anyway, there is a lot of room to move the cg a few inches either way.. the pilot looked like he was used to flying a sport plane and also overpowered the cub, otherwise jerking it into the air like that would have resulted in an instant tip stall and crash for sure if the cub was powered to scale.
that thing looks tail heavy. it came off the ground too fast and rolled left due to the torque of the motor and prop. i lost a plane once because of that. never again.
I just murdered one of these things once I took it off and there was a loose pin in the engine and it drove itself right to the ground

I'm guessing it came out a bit tail-heavy? Good job getting it back on the ground.

good landing without power
jofus2019 1 year ago
spend alittle more time on takeoffs and landings, forget that aerobatic crap, cubs I flew couldn't do any of that anyhow....
XBoeingCapt 1 year ago
That's one realistic takeoff. Top notch!
hardenedman 1 year ago
tail heavy + high lift wing + heavy head wind - gyro = semi-controllable chaos.
kitten54585356 1 year ago
you have the c.g in the wrong place and the wind caught the right wing on takeoff amatuer mistake....

probly a first flight just a get er off the ground quicley type a take off
gunny556fly 1 year ago
@gunny556fly That would by very silly IMO. I'd rather speed up gently to see if there is any unexpected tendency, and abort the take off if needed.
GollumLeVelu 1 year ago
If I'm not mistaken they have competitions in real life trying to mimic those take offs

I loved the takeof too. It was so smooth, that I almost missed the moment when the wheels left the ground.

What did go wrong with the piper cub?
dennisjones100 1 year ago
@dennisjones100 Nothing. Just agressive flying. Snap rolls, loops are clearly performed on purpose. As for motor problems, I can't say.
