That's actually pretty common for martial artists (I mean, more common for those types than many other athletes), since it makes sense to learn to fight in a stance that your opponent is less likely to deal with well. As a lefty myself, I got very comfortable in either stance, so in sparring I'd often start orthodox just to switch later and be more confusing. I've never fought in actual MMA, though, naturally, but the strategy is likely similar.
