There is no R4, so much for being in the USAF. If you ment the F4, no it doesn't have winglets. Winglets were first patented by Frederick W. Lanchester in 1897 and were used in WW2 (Heinkel HE 162). The first civil airliner to use them was the A310.

I think it's a brillant move from Airbus. little investment (little>1bln US$) and 15% fuel savings, or 3tons more payload. that's an extra 500/600 nm. We might see trans-atlantic routes with this new boy here.
It;s nice to see how Airbus is giving the A320 new engines, winglets or 'Sharklets' and interior. Nice, hopefully this will gain more orders for the A320.

I have nothing against Boeing, because at the end of the day its an Aircraft which I am primarily interested in. But the fact that you're getting so worked up over the fact that I like Airbus and you dont, is amusing. @LottoWinner , The a380 being an economic flop or not, its a great revolutionary plane with so much innovation and technology, especially for first class. The 787 is great but its not as great as Boeing made it out to be. It just looks like an ordinary plane in the inside.

@RainfulPhenix Lookey here little boy most of the airlines that purchased Exploding RR Trent Engines which is only have changed the orders to the safe dependable GE NEXGen engines cuz the RR Trent Engine still has a defect and an A380 had another close call and made an emeregency landing at Dubai. Of course Airbus has kept it quiet and the A380 only 250 passengers. People are not flying on the A380 and the Boeing 747-8I is more fuel efficient with safe GE NexGen jet engines!

There is no R4, so much for being in the USAF. If you ment the F4, no it doesn't have winglets. Winglets were first patented by Frederick W. Lanchester in 1897 and were used in WW2 (Heinkel HE 162). The first civil airliner to use them was the A310.

@blablubb12345 Well UThe RF-4B similar to the more numerous Air Force RF-4C, with a lengthened nose designed for reconnaissance. Separate camera bays in the nose were designated Stations 1, 2, and 3, and carried a variety of cameras, which unlike the cameras of the RF-4Cs were on rotating mounts so they could be aimed at targets off the flight path.
Finally U admit I am right and and RF-4 could not be used for recon cuz vibration problems and back was by a weapons officer. Wake up dummy!

I did two tours + the 2ND one volunteered. Assholes like think U know everything and in those four years I flew more miles and have flown in more planes + helicopters than U can imagine. The US helped Britain but it was also the ordinary people back in Britain. Plus, USA offered no physical help. And also, even if dunkirk was a disaster and even if the army got absolutely trashed, there was a lot of millitary vehicles and troops back home. @JQX1 So sorry but American Winglets are an American Invention by Richard T. Whitcomb from Illinois invented winglets in 1955! The were used on the Phantom jet and and other USAF milatary jets and civil avaition. How do I know this? I was in the USAF and they used them on the R4-Phantom Jet. Don't you think its about time you read a bit instead of using your pub for aviation info and knoeledge. I think it's a brillant move from Airbus. little investment (little>1bln US$) and 15% fuel savings, or 3tons more payload. that's an extra 500/600 nm. We might see trans-atlantic routes with this new boy here.
