  • What happened to people buying appropriately sized tanks what you can actually see your snake through?

  • @thedeeptone1986 money happened my friend smh....

  • Just wanted to thank you for this video. Im working on my second one of these and your video has helped me immensely.

  • where did you buy the structuure stand actual part.

  • how much did this cost you?

  • hey do people sell thies on ebay for around $75 or. 60 £ plz and whats the name ofthem

  • hey does this rack hold 32 or 34 qt ? please comment

  • well, that life for a snake looks about lame as fuck

  • finally a well explained tutorial

  • I live in England and we don't measure boxes and stuff like that by quart. Is a litre the same as a quart? You might not understand because obviously your from the USA. I wanted to build my own snake rack using your technique and getting ideas of you but im not good at maths and i dont really know what a quart is because i am not from where you are from. :)

  • @TheSnakegirl99 a quart is 32 oz and a litre is roughly 33.8 oz A 41 qt sterilite dimensions is the same as a 20 gallon long floor. the 91 qt is exactly the same as a 20 gal long aquarium including wall height and width. hope that helps.I show em both in my vids.

  • Can I make this a 6 qt and a 41 qt all in one?

  • @LegitReptiles The 6qts would only take up a fraction of a shelves space, and the 41qts would have to slide out of the side of the rack, while any other size smaller tubs would slide out the front. I can be done but i'd just make separate racks to make life easier. Google "Frugal Herpers Snake Rack" its basically this same design but works well for 6 qt tubs.

  • thats not cheap i could build the same rack for about £50

  • @yubtubedude Maybe where you come from, but not here in America.

  • This is really cool. I have a question. Why do you put screws in? Is this just to help keep it together? I plan to run to Home Depot tomorrow and pick up one of these units. I just need somethin' to hold 6 - 28 qt tubs. One unit will hold 8 tubs right?

  • @SRT80 If you dont put the screws in, the shelves can be lifted up.

  • @SRT80 hey u think u can put 32 quart in this rack ?

  • when you measure the distance in between do you measure the board too? Thats the only thing concerning me. Like even a small difference in length can affect how tight the tubs are for a snake rack.

  • why do you put the white board down.

  • How old r u

  • Comment removed

  • where did you get our storage rack from?

  • why do u need the melamine

  • whered you get your tubs?

  • @Jnick911 Target.

  • do u breed?

  • @CBW0314 Yes i do!

  • sorry 28 quart bins

  • How much was it? And could those 20 quart bins hold adult ball pythons and adult colorbrids

  • @tarantulacc They could hold adult male BP's and most colubrids. Female BP's need a 41qt. The tubs in the video are 28qt.

  • Is this rack sturdy or unlevel? Because my dad has worked with these things and says they are crap.

  • @ExtremeHerps I havent had any problems with stability.

  • I choose terrariums simply for the 'night life' of the animal. During the day, my snakes do spend 98% of their time in the hides ( note plural ), but at night, they are all over the place, climbing and exploring. Never had a stuck shed, refusal to eat, or defensive strikes. I do take proper care of them though, which I'm sure makes a big difference. Racks are excellent for a large collection, just not my preference for a smaller one.

  • @integraral I like you! I used to keep all of my snakes in glass tanks when I had 4 or 5. But it took a lot to get perfect sheds, temperatures, etc.

  • how old are you?

  • @CBW0314 17

  • awsome!! can you please post a detailed vid on how you heated this rack. I want to do the same thing, i already have the shelve etc. but im a little slow with the heating. Thanks in advance.

  • Nice set-up, thanks for sharing this info. I would run a circular saw at a shallow setting to put grooves in for the heat cable. Don't mind the negativity of those whom only have a few snakes, The real collectors know that racks are the best way to house your snakes. Think about it people, when you put your hide in, where the hell does your snake spend all of it's time? ANSWER: INSIDE THE HIDE. (That's why it's called a hide)So fish tank junkies for the sake of the snake read up on RI in snakes

  • Nice video

  • All u guys are fag its for trying to make fun of youngtierney grow up and shut the hell up

  • lets start with your tittle easy cheap worthless piece of garbage snake rack ..........stop puting your snakes in prison cells if u say floor space is so importaint then wtf are u puting them in 28qt tubs or smaller for u fkn reject

  • @tmcroberts30 you're a dumb ass...a little research will show that most common snake species get stressed from overly large enclosures. while some do require more space, the particular species that this rack is designed for prefer small spaces AND IN FACT live underground in tight burrows. this rack system is perfectly fine and there isnt a respected reptile breeder in the world that would disagree.

  • Good build dude... I used your idea and build an 8 bin rack.. Rack, $75, heat tape $40, plus 26qt tubs.. As for the person who said provide or dont own them.. Not everyone wants to spend on overpriced equipment.. It works just as well, plus it feels good when you put your sweat into it...

  • most kids play xbox, you've found a way to put vision racks out of business if you really wanted to :D well done dude.

  • Hey! This video was perfect down to the T. I brought one of the storage shelves, glue, a saw, the panel board, and 3 41 QT tubs and 2 28 QT tubs, and 2 heat cables for 130$ :).

  • @tmcroberts30 Haha! I'm sure everyone will agree that suitably sized plastic tubs are by far the best way to keep most snake species. They are nice and dark, making the animal feel secure, they hold humidity extremely well, lightweight, easy to clean... the list goes on and on. So since your saying I don't care for my animals properly, I will begin buy a bunch of big glass tanks and then wonder why all of my snakes have stuck sheds and die of starvation because they are too stressed to eat.

  • @tmcroberts30 Alright man, I have yet to "lose it" defending myself against idiots like you but I sure am getting close. You clearly don't know anything about keeping reptiles. Quit drinking the Hatorade.

  • @YoungTierney every good breeder uses those tubs most snakes spend there time in dark tight wholes they feel safer in smaller spaces if put a snake in a fish tank its not wrong but where do you usally find them in there hide y cuz they feel safer

  • @tmcroberts30 i use fish tank sir n i take care of my snakes but plz dont include all the people that use tanks as your crime fighting team mates

    your fat

  • @tmcroberts30 I can see you have no credibility in the reptile world. All big breeders use these, like YoungTierney said they are by far the best way to keep them. Besides they look organized and keep humidity and keep snakes from stressing out. Usually floor space is more important than height. Keep your senseless comments to yourself please.

  • @tmcroberts30 You sir are the idiot and you have absoultely NO IDEA what the fuck your talking about. Please leave these animals to the big boys.

Any herp expert or herp owner can tell you that plastic tubs are by far the PERFERED method of housing these animals and the animals perfer this method. Every single ball python I've ever kept in glass has had NOTHING but problems. The second I switched to a snake rack. ALL problems stopped and ALL my snakes are healthy and happy.

    Idiot......

  • haha 1 dislike wht loner

  • How do you put flexwatt on this????? i want to make one buyt i dont know how to put flexwatt on it with all the holes it has

  • @TheBeardedDragon15 The flexwatt is wired on each shelve just like on any other rack. The gaps in the shelving really aren't a problem.

  • Awesome!!! I was thinking... Wouldn't it be cheaper to buy the melamine, but don't buy the 5 shelf thing, and just use a couple of 2x4s instead? Or is this cheaper?

  • @TPReptiles i dont know i think this way might be better, but he didnt account for the tub cost. i just built a 10 28 quart rack tonight, and its heavy as hell.i used 2x4s for the sides and i sheet of 3/4th inch melamine cut to four sheets for shelves, and then a piece of scrap board had for the base, might be cheaper but alot bulkier, i think ill end up spending around 130 when im done and flexwatt is hooked up(tubs and all).but i have enough left over melamine i may be able to make a baby rack

  • dude you made my day. thanks your idea makes mine greater !

    lked it!

  • @raulromeropty Thanks for the support! I'm glad you found the video useful!

  • Can you please do an update on heating this rack? And also explain how you would use flexwatt for the rack as well. Thanks!

  • @nlusher91 Check out my video called "Snake Rack Heating Methods."

  • how are you going to get down inside all the slats to clean? There are times when one needs to clean the whole rack and there will be no way for you to clean "inside" all of the shelves.

  • @zippy0099 I see your point. I use newspaper as a substrate, so I don't need to worry about any dust or wood chips. If I wanted to fix the problem though, I would glue down the white board on both sides, instead of just the bottom. This way nothing would get inside the shelves.

  • NICE!

  • Were did u get that rack at

  • @geckokillz123 Everything was purchased at HomeDepot.

  • @TUzViiRuSz there is no gap between the tubs and the top of the rack

  • Nice job !! AND i hear The Offspring in the background that is NOT bad :)

  • @MetalDwarF96 I love The Offspring! haha I can't wait for their new album!

  • @MetalDwarF96 would you be willing to send me your measurements for this one...but i only need it for three tubs that are big enough for a full grown ball python but is also tight enough so that a 2010 baby doesnt escape...if thats not possible just the measurements for the adult ball python set up would be great...aslo how do you heat it...thanks so much

  • @MissPython91 im sorry this is not my video ... :) you should ask YoungTierney.

  • can you show how its heated

  • @FLYBOiiSENONDECK Yes. Stay tuned for a video within the next week or so.

  • I was wondering where you got your white board panels from i'm planning on building this but don't know what kind of boards you were using.

  • Awesome vid, dude. Brilliant.

  • What kind of tubs did you use? I bought 28qt bins from wal Mart and they don't fit together in a shelf? Jw where you got yours and what size

  • @Joeb15219 I use Sterilite 28qt tubs for this rack. I got them at Target.

  • I just started building this rack I have glued the white panel board to each of the shelves and instead of the goop glue I used industriel grade liquid nails, it was only a couple bucks more and came in a caulking tube so it was pretty easy to apply, plus I bought 3 shelving kits so i felt i needed a larger tube of glue. I will be assembling the rack tommorow. I did have a question do the 41 qt. tubs only slide in and out from the side or will they slide from the front as well?

  • @thorobredz11 Good idea! The 41QTs only slide out the side, they are a little too long to slide out of the front.

  • if you dont mind i ask. how much did the entire rack cost?

  • @reptilemonsoon Not including the tubs or heat tape, the rack cost me under $150.

  • Thanks for the great idea! I will be assembling the same rack this weekend for my future small collection of snakes.

  • so all together how much u spend

  • hey...can you do an update on how the heat cable came out? thanks

  • @1980norcal I actually decided to go with Flexwatt instead. I tested the heat cable, and besides it being a pain to make the channels for it to rest in, it would pop out as the bins slid over it.

  • @YoungTierney

what kind of razers are those???

  • where did you buy the rack? i've searched high and low for a rack that will accommodate 41 qt tubs..

  • @1980norcal I bought everything at Home Depot.

  • how deep is the rack? Would it be able to hold the Vision V-18 tubs?

  • @nlusher91 Anything with a base less than 24'' by 31'' would fit in this rack.

  • im definitely gonna do this

  • @taylorgilder Thank you! You could probably make one cheaper, but it a hell of a lot more complicated than this one. Around here 8' by 4' sheets of melamine are like $32. For the shelves alone you'll need 3 sheets. Then the sides and back will be another 2 sheets. Thats already running $160, plus $10 for screws. You could use 2'' by 4''s for the sides to save money, but it wouldn't look as nice. This rack is also much lighter, and has less cutting involved than one built out of melamine. :)

  • Thats a good looking rack. I think I'm going to build one of those. I'm probably going to leave the lids on the tubs though so I don't have to put anything on the top. I like the air for my tubs to come from holes in the sides. It helps hold heat better. The video was helpful though. thanks!

  • @MrSkindian Thanks bro! I personally don't like having to take the entire bin out, then opening the lid, because I open them so many times a day. Whatever floats your boat is fine, since the rack is so customizable. Next time I build another rack the holes will be on the sides, thats what I prefer, but I took it a step further in the lazy factor for this one. lol

  • @YoungTierney Yeah I'm going to leave the lids on so I don't have to glue that piece on the top. The holes on the side are a way good idea. It helps hold in the heat and humidity. I'm going to start my rack within the next few weeks. I'll let you know how it turns out.

  • Good just not a fan of your way of heating it.

I think I would prefer to have the flat bottom with heat tape (flexwatt) in there.

Also, don't take people for stupidier than they are ;)

  • Pretty cool dude I will definitely try this build.

  • amazing rack bud! you've got some operation going on now lol how many snakes you got now?

  • @snakeboi1994 haha thanks man. I think iv'e got something like 16 or so, with a few more on the way :)

  • Great Video! But where are you putting your heat tape?

  • @ILUVREPTILES1 Thanks! The Flexwatt will be taped on the top of each shelf.
