Monty Sunshine (9 April 1928 – 30 November 2010)[1] was an English jazz clarinetist, whose main claim to fame was his clarinet solo on the track "Petite Fleur", a million seller for the Chris Barber Jazz Band in 1959.[1] Sunshine variously worked with The Eager Beavers, The Crane River Jazz Band, Beryl Bryden, George Melly, Chris Barber, Johnny Parker, Diz Disley and Donegan's Dancing Sushine Band.
@Jazzbonick I think you'll find the turntable is fine. One of the trickeries record producers or perhaps others got up to was to record tunes slightly faster than the master. This made it more interesting and difficult to copy by ear on a fixed tune instrument especially if you were a hack like me on guitar. If my guitar is in perfect tune I can play along with Django Reinhardt so this problem was something introduced around the rock & roll era.
No i co można skomentować?
This made it to top 40 radio in early 1959 in America. I remember listening to it as an 8-year-old and being totally seduced by it. Loved the 'Spanish Tinge" flourishes and the way it transitioned briefly into 4/4 swing and then back to a Habanera.

Seminal moment. On the pier in Bognor. I was about 11. This was playing over the PA. Knew this was something very special. Still affects me today. Brill!
I remember buying this in about 1958, or thereabouts. I was living in Llandudno, North Wales at the time. Now, I am living in wonderful Western Australia! Greetings to one and all.
What a great song. I was just a toddler but this was always playing on the radio. They don't make them like this anymore. I actually stopped listening to music radio some years back.

I saw Chris Barber last year, incredible for his age to be able to perform for 2 hours plus. A musician of immeasurable talent.

Nice to see Monty;s version again. Just one minor criticism. Your turntable is running too fast. It's a semi tone sharp

This song is just the greatest.
You can dance, listen, love, and it even makes great background music for cartoons.
Can you see Brutus swinging Olive around the floor to this?

Monty played it in A flat minor while Sidney's "original" was in G minor.
