Wow Julia I have been watching for your makeup videos for years and now I can't stop watching your cooking videos! You are very creative in the kitchen too!
This is exactly what I've been looking for :) a place to get healthy lowfat meals...I'm going on a weight loss/healthy eating journey and I need alot of motivation and direction right now. I get bored with the same meal plans and This is the perfect channel!
This looks amazing!!! Julia, I love your channels! I watch your makeup videos religiously but have just started watching these ones and they are just as awesome :) I wanted to pass on a tip too from working in a kitchen shop :) Olive oil is great for salads/dressings, but it ruins non-stick cookware as it's got a really low heat threshold and gets burnt onto the coating and sticks. Same as spray can oils. Just a tip to save anyone who reads this a bit of money :)
I just now found this channel through your weight loss video on your makeup channel, and I can't believe I wasn't already subbed!! I just cooked this.. and wow was it good! I didn't really think I would like it, but it is just simply amazing! The only thing I changed was the tomatoes. I am allergic so I replaced them with baby carrots. They made it seem fresh tasting! Oh please do more videos like this. :))
I've been subbed to your makeup channel for at least a year and somehow just now found this one (followed the link to your Asia travel video). I must say, I actually like this channel much better! Makeup is a fun little hobby of mine but I have always been MUCH more interested in travel and cooking and cultural things. Thanks for this :) *subbed*

why does it matter what is "supposed" to go together? I've seen a lot of crap made by "star chefs" that seemed absolutely ridiculous to throw together, BUT it was still delicious. Cooking is like painting, each recipe will be different based on the chef. No 2 chefs can cook the same thing the same way. So let her put together what she wants & you piss off.
I have tried the asparagus salad today and I loved it! It was actually the first time I ever ate asparagus :) They were not at all bitter and tasted so good with tomatoes. I used "scamorza" instead of mozzarella, it's an Italian cheese but not as soft and watery as mozzarella. Thanks a lot for the tip, I'm waiting for more food videos from you Julia :*
Thank you for these videos--I did a modified Atkins diet for about 2 years, and was healthy and happy with my body. A few years ago I started working 12 hours a day at a mortgage company and gained 80 pounds. I told my friend that if I could make the meals you made, I'd totally go back to low carb as nothing has worked for me like low carb did. Thanks again, and congratulations on your weight loss!
I love Asparagus but my husband won't touch it. Oh well, more salad for me! :D
Looks delicious!! I'd rather eat Turkey than most any meat. Yours looks really good and now I'm sooooooo hungry!! ;D Thanks for showing us how to do this. xo
you can't really have properly clean hands when cooking with long finger-nails... thats why chefs and medical staff never grow nails. the food looks great though!!! yum!

@zimt1970 lol I didn't mean to get you so worked up, sorry. But I am not about to have an argument with a person I don't know. I am actually in the restaurant industry myself so you don't need to flash your family restaurant stuff in my face. I know how opinionated people in the restaurant industry can be when it comes to food. I just don't think you need to tell her how to eat her food that's all. I am gunna be the better person here and wish you a great day. Good karma headed your way :D
An Asparagus tip...instead of peeling the ends (I've never heard of that) there is a natural bend on the bottom of the asparagus where it snaps off. So much easier :) Now after watching this I'm starving..going to make a chicken salad lol
@MsLilacLover1 That is true. But it also wastes a lot of asparagus because you can still eat that part, just use a peeler to slice off the fibrous stuff.
I made this for my boyfriend and his dad last night and they LOVED it! I added some spinach as well. :) I even made it again this morning for my boyfriend to take to work. This is one of my faves by far!
just a good tip: be sure to refrigerate all oils, (olive, vegetable, etc.) this will make sure they don't go rancid (which then become carcinogenic). when shopping for olive oils look for "cold pressed" or "first pressed". also when cooking with these oils make sure they don't get too hot because they can also be carcinogenic. happy cooking :)

I get a rush every time I see the display photo before watching a video!, its so fantastic the way you make these types of foods!, Love it, Please keep it them, your fantastic!, thank you so very much for taking the time to record such amazing thing, ^___^ <33
this looks delicious!! Thanks for sharing this I'm going to try it. Yumm!!! I think maybe you should call this series "Julia Cooks" or "Julia Eats" or "MissChievous Meals"
I love this kind of video. I'm trying to eat fewer carbs and sugar as well and I could always use more ideas for healthy meals. I hope you'll do more.
LOL Turkey breasts in Europe are smaller than chicken breasts in the U.S. Our chickens probably glow in the dark, they are so pumped full of junk. Thank you! I'll be making that salad at some point. Well, maybe not the meat part. :)
@jenwexxx369 Most meals that can be cooked conventionally can be done in the microwave. Vegetables: put a small amount of water in a bowl and cover, longer you cook, less crunchy they are. Meat: Buy precooked meat, otherwise you will most likely be eating raw, and heat on a plate. Try a google search for "Microwave cooking" if you want to get into specific timing and recipes.
My mom cooks like this at home all the time. She+my dad are super healthy+fit...but I'm at university right now...its so hard to eat healthy...especially in the dining halls...with the plates and plates of coookies :[
Julia, I love these healthy cooking videos. How do you come up with the inspiration for your recipes and meals, so you don't get bored with your food? Please make more :) xoxo
@jenwexxx369 Hm no - as I do not own a microwave! How can you live without a kitchen?? I didn't even know they make apartments or houses without kitchens. :o
@TheThirdShift this is nothing really special- in my appartement there is no place for kitchen too, i had to improvise a bit to find a space as i only have one room. so it depends. LOL tbh even in a dorm i had a real kitchen haha
Having watched other food related videos of yours, I consider you a foodie Julia. How could you kill that mozzarella with balsamic vinegar???? It's a big no-no!!! Everything else looks simply delicious though. :) And congrats on your success with low carbing.
@TheThirdShift we should cook whatever we like to eat. doesn't matter if something goes with something or not, if that taste good it's good, for sample today I cook Brussels sprouts as a side dish with babe spare ribs on bbq. and fried rice with sweet corn and peas. hmm m yam. And it was soo good
@zimt1970 Don't go and diss how she eats her cheese and then play off your comment like you didn't mean it with that compliment at the end. Julia wasn't even phased by your comment because she does what she wants. People all over Italy eat their cheese like that, and with basil and tomatoes, you gunna tell them that they are wrong for doing it? No... They invented that!!! LOL
@chemicalenginerd Not much tbh, my cooking hasn't changed a great deal but I just eat less pasta, bread, rice and ready-made meals when I was lazy like frozen pizza or something, and a lot less sweets. I always ate vegetables and salads so that hasn't changed. Mainly I've reduced carbs and sugar.
"healthy cooking made easy" is a good title already. You've covered the type of food you'll be making and the "Made Easy" part draws in people who don't want to feel like they need a cooking degree.
@digitalgirl13 The salad was for 2 and we didn't finish it. There was 1 breast and some salad left over. Honestly, it does not matter how much you eat if you are eating vegetables. You can stuff yourself on vegetables as much as you like. Portion control should be practiced on unhealthy foods like sweets, chocolates, etc. If you want to eat a ton of salad with a healthy dressing, it's fine.
@TheThirdShift As for healthy dressing... Tuscan virgin olive oil is the greatest thing, it has a great, strong flavour to it, so you may not even need pepper in your salad ;)
@TheThirdShift QUESTION QUESTION QUESTION I notice you drink coffee...do you drink it black or put cream and sugar (stevia) in it??? You have motivated me to start eating healthy again. My only concern right now is...if its possible to lose weight while still drinking coffee with cream and sugar (just how I like it)
@sandyiba I've always had my coffee just with milk, I don't like sugar in it. It's all about moderation. Sure, if you drink 8 cups a day with 8 teaspoons of real sugar, that's a ton of extra calories. Try using a sweetener and milk instead.
@TheThirdShift I have a problem x_X. My parents are moving back to Poland when I finish all my studies to become a Registered Nurse. And they want me to come with them, but I don't want to. I love Canada :P. but then they found a magazine about Canadian/Quebec Nurses going to Switzerland and they love it. So my parents keep on telling me to move to Switzerland in the future.. Is Switzerland a nice place? Good Shooping? Is homosexuality accepted there? x_x... I'm so confused :/ Help please?
Thanks for sharing ! I need motivation to cook hence I moved from my parents house and I live alone. I'll try this for sure.
Do you cook some swiss meals but making them healthier? It could be a nice idea for a next recipe ! For the name of the healthy cooking series, I would say The Healthy Shift ?
@foo8lover I don't cook a lot of traditional Swiss food, it's often heavy and a bit dull for me - my cooking is more Mediterranean and Asian influenced.
I just made this, and I am pretty sure it just changed my life.
I am a salad obsessed, and I think this is the best salad I have every had! My only adjustment was I used a fig balsamic vinegar. So amazing!!!!

just a good tip: be sure to refrigerate all oils, (olive, vegetable, etc.) this will make sure they don't go rancid (which then become carcinogenic). when shopping for olive oils look for "cold pressed" or "first pressed". also when cooking with these oils make sure they don't get too hot because they can also be carcinogenic. happy cooking :)

@ItsDeeRich oils higher in polyunsaturated fat are more likely to go rancid than oils with a lower proportion of PUFAs.

@jenwexxx369 Hm no - as I do not own a microwave! How can you live without a kitchen?? I didn't even know they make apartments or houses without kitchens. :o
TheThirdShift 10 months ago 29
@TheThirdShift if you have only a dorm most of the time they have no kitchen :(
ocean3684 10 months ago
@TheThirdShift they do, the really small apartments do not have kitchen, I couldn't live with out one really,
I love cook, for me is the best time of the day when I have to cook, "viva la cocina"

sandrarebekka 10 months ago
@TheThirdShift this is nothing really special- in my appartement there is no place for kitchen too, i had to improvise a bit to find a space as i only have one room. so it depends. LOL tbh even in a dorm i had a real kitchen haha

Having watched other food related videos of yours, I consider you a foodie Julia. How could you kill that mozzarella with balsamic vinegar???? It's a big no-no!!! Everything else looks simply delicious though. :) And congrats on your success with low carbing.
zimt1970 10 months ago 9
@zimt1970 I love balsamic on mozza :)
TheThirdShift 10 months ago 30
@TheThirdShift we should cook whatever we like to eat. doesn't matter if something goes with something or not, if that taste good it's good, for sample today I cook Brussels sprouts as a side dish with babe spare ribs on bbq. and fried rice with sweet corn and peas. hmm m yam. And it was soo good
vivianlilly 10 months ago
@zimt1970 Don't go and diss how she eats her cheese and then play off your comment like you didn't mean it with that compliment at the end. Julia wasn't even phased by your comment because she does what she wants. People all over Italy eat their cheese like that, and with basil and tomatoes, you gunna tell them that they are wrong for doing it? No... They invented that!!! LOL

Did you cook fattening stuff before the diet? Does your boyfriend miss it, or does he like the healthy food?
chemicalenginerd 10 months ago 2
@chemicalenginerd Not much tbh, my cooking hasn't changed a great deal but I just eat less pasta, bread, rice and ready-made meals when I was lazy like frozen pizza or something, and a lot less sweets. I always ate vegetables and salads so that hasn't changed. Mainly I've reduced carbs and sugar.

"healthy cooking made easy" is a good title already. You've covered the type of food you'll be making and the "Made Easy" part draws in people who don't want to feel like they need a cooking degree.

natalie075 10 months ago
ok maybe stupid question but did you eat all the salad you showed us and 1 pic of brest? or for example half salad? was that salad for one person?
digitalgirl13 10 months ago
@digitalgirl13 The salad was for 2 and we didn't finish it. There was 1 breast and some salad left over. Honestly, it does not matter how much you eat if you are eating vegetables. You can stuff yourself on vegetables as much as you like. Portion control should be practiced on unhealthy foods like sweets, chocolates, etc. If you want to eat a ton of salad with a healthy dressing, it's fine.
TheThirdShift 10 months ago 15
@TheThirdShift thank you very much for the anwser - sorry about my bad english ;) - best regards from Poland - pozdrawiam :)
digitalgirl13 10 months ago
@TheThirdShift As for healthy dressing... Tuscan virgin olive oil is the greatest thing, it has a great, strong flavour to it, so you may not even need pepper in your salad ;)

@TheThirdShift QUESTION QUESTION QUESTION I notice you drink coffee...do you drink it black or put cream and sugar (stevia) in it??? You have motivated me to start eating healthy again. My only concern right now is...if its possible to lose weight while still drinking coffee with cream and sugar (just how I like it)
Thanks for your help!!!
sandyiba 10 months ago

For the name of the healthy cooking series, I would say The Healthy Shift ?
foo8lover 10 months ago
@foo8lover I don't cook a lot of traditional Swiss food, it's often heavy and a bit dull for me - my cooking is more Mediterranean and Asian influenced.
TheThirdShift 10 months ago 4
@TheThirdShift Ok :) I knew it's heavy though ! I'll be waiting for your next recipe video ! Thanks again x
