i dont think anybody said anything about rider skill, but a 4 stroke is easyer to ride at race speeds for a long time than a 2 stroke and the powerband is a lot more predictable, easyer to ride on and it basically starts at about 5,000RPM

I have nothing against 2-smokes. But the only reason he won was because the guy on the thumper got screwed by a slower rider. The whole race the thumper was creeping up on the 2-smoke and then once he passed him he started to pull away until he comes around a corner and all of a sudden he is like, "Wtf mate, what is this slow man doing in front of me."

I ride both. The CR 250 is a great bike I find it to be super fast and raw power in the top end. my XR 650 is also a great bike for trail riding (NOT TRACK) It is just to heavy of a bike, the thumper can go slow and low for long peroids of time where the 2 stroke can only do one thing go fast. I love both bikes for different reasons. My buddy's CRF 450 seems to be an unstoppable machine that has power from top to bottom. If I were to get a thumper for racing it would be the new CRF.
While rider skill and luck do play a role, 2-strokes are lighter for the same power, making the bike easier to handle, less tiring to ride and more agile. The main reason 2-strokes are tuned for higher rpm is to increase overall power, hence the torque peak. They can be tuned for low rpm torque, but what fun is that?
Message to honda ,yamaha, suzuki ,kawasaki factories - we love 2 strokes, so don´t make only fucking 4stroke tractors, we love classic mx ,fmx ,supercross...with classic mx bikes. 2Strokes forever!
yea lol, that makes me remember back when they were designing and building the yz400f and yz426f, the idea was to give older guys a more mellow more tractable option to compete in the 250 class with. then new kids would go out and buy them and think they were badass because they could handle them.

Message to honda ,yamaha, suzuki ,kawasaki factories - we love 2 strokes, so don´t make only fucking 4stroke tractors, we love classic mx ,fmx ,supercross...with classic mx bikes. 2Strokes forever!

yea lol, that makes me remember back when they were designing and building the yz400f and yz426f, the idea was to give older guys a more mellow more tractable option to compete in the 250 class with. then new kids would go out and buy them and think they were badass because they could handle them.

lol Name calling now are we :) ive raced 250 2 strokes for 20 years now and this is not a 250 pause this 33 sec's into it and you will see the skinny 125 pipe sticking out the front of the engine as the 125's do the 250's have a fatter pipe and its a lot closer to the engine. Lets put this to a vote and we will see what the people think and not just us, let the voting begin :)

this is really no surprise to me , if u'll remember , 125's almost always ran near the same lap times as the 250's did ,( we're talking real 250's here, not puss 250f's )
