I wonder if the debate about what a fan is, or is not is of any actual importance to the band? Some folks get together and make some cool music and *poof* debate about what track a means if you like it is that not enough? I think if you like it, it is enough. The artist is happy with a good response. Those who were not part of the creation are nothing more then side line ideas about what is good or what is bad. The art will stand the test of time. If not so be it.

You just sound like I did before I actually listened to the beatles and I thought they were just a 60s boy band, then I actually listened to their albums in their entirety and changed my mind. @robinzhooded haha i was a beatles obssesed fan when i was 17. i had listened everything, including tomorrow never knows several times, is a great song but in 66 we have frank zappa's freak out with the return of monster magnet for example, 11 minutes of pure avantgarde, in 65 and 66 we had the two masterpieces of bob dylan: desolation row and sad eyed lady, both of them 10 minutes long. there were far better songs than tomorrow never knows.

Return of the son of monster magnet is a cool avantgarde piece but its not better then what the beatles did around then.
