Then what is the logic of this videorecording, and above all of posting it to YouTube? Would it not have been more logical to post Dr Scuchardt's text, and/or maybe an audio podcast?
The National Federation of the Blind having a YouTube channel when the YouTube player cannot be used by a blind person is an interesting, paradoxical mode of evangelism, of reaching to people who do not understand blindness. But yours sounds merely self-contradictory.
The undeniable irony of this discussion is that much of Schuchardt's well-conceived and articulated ideas come from a medium requiring sight, the book that is the Bible. If God's desire is that we be there, that we speak in as un-mediated a manner as possible and that we do the work of the gospel, then why does God not do these things today? He is not physically here and His primary means of communication is a book.
I did appreciate the Elijah illustration though. Very nicely done.
This & "God Does Not Post to YouTube" are amazing and thought provoking. I think I just kind of accepted everything on the Internet without asking the question "Is it good" not just "Is it interesting." I think our most common Google search is "what is the most interesting ___?"... There's so much room for us to grow in understanding!
As for the other comments... I think we've just swung too far. Even this video is an example of "God posting to Youtube." BUT... We MUST DISCERN!
Sure you can share the gospel over the phone, my grandma was saved by watching Billy Graham on TV alone. But for the most part, I think this guy is right.
god works through others so in a way he does send texts and emails and yes even youtube

@calmansi, the irony was intentional. This was one of the first videos on Wheaton's channel. Blessings to you.

If you found that one interesting, you may also want to take a look at his, "No Attention Span Needed."

Dr. Schuchardt is pretty clever here. (watch 3:10-4:10 for the best part). I laughed out loud, and he deserves some cred for a nice remix.
But his analysis is lacking. Trying to speak against mediated communication, he draws three rules for ministry from Jesus:
1. You have to be there
2. You have to speak in as un-mediated a manner as possible!
3. You have to do the work of the gospel
Regarding the NT: what of the centurion's daughter or Paul's epistles? And cars are out for ministry.

Cars are not a media of communication...
