great album, had it in the late 70s and wore it out. few people knew how great Richard Harris was as an interpreter of songs, especially great songs like Jimmy Webb would write, can never get tired of listening to meaningful music like this
I've loved Richard Harris since I was 10 years old after seeing him in "A Man Called Horse" I would write him letters everyday until he finally wrote me back with a picture..as sooo thrilled....Today I am 52 and to this day....I have never stopped loving him as a great actor & singer...I JUST LOVE HIS VOICE & HIS ENGLISH/IRISH ACCENT!!!!!!
Richard Harris was a rare talent whose achievements extended to stage, screen, records and even poetry. In 1971 Richard Harris recorded an album which charts the life of a man from disillusionment, through love, marriage and divorce, and then back to disillusionment again. The album was Richard Harris’s own concept and was a self-analysis of his own life and could possibly be an account of many a mans life....
Quel merveilleux chanteur, quel dommage qu'il soit demeuré inconnu en France car c'est le plus grand. Tellement meilleur qu' Elvis Presley dans "my boy". Une voix, un homme extraordinaire, qui dans son génie a brûlé sa vie.
Richard Harris a great actor lots of movies as leading man, great unique singer but sadly under rated what a murderous world, just listen to how he sing how he deliver the lyrics it came from heart, many young ones did not even knew that Dumbledore he is Richard Harris, now we are glad that they begun to recognized him as a great singer not just an actor, ONLY WHEN A PERSON IS DEAD THAT HIS OTHER GREAT WORKS WILL BE RECOGNIZED, may you rest in peace Richard you have given the world a joy
I saw Richard Harris signing another album he made in the early 70's and I walked up to him and told him that I loved the song "Requiem" and he sang it so great and he said to me that this song was written by Jim Webb. Anyway, the whole album called "My Boy" is perhaps the best album he made, his voice powerful and sung from the heart. Its sad that many people today never knew that Richard Harris was not only a great actor, but a wonderful singer as well. I never tire of listening to him sing
I grew up in in those days when music made the change from Bing and the Sisters to the Bugs and the Bands. I enjoyed Richard Harris's movie more than his musical endeavours. I don't want to upset anyone but there is no comparison to the Mr. Harris's and Billy Davis'.
This whole album was sadly overlooked. A really really criminally underated album, beautifully and heartfeltly sang !!! For me its up there with Scott Walkers music, and thats really saying something !
Thanks for your e-mail, and mucho thanks for posting this Richard Harris song. I haven't heard it in so long. I've been playing it (and the version by Billy Davis) nonstop since you posted them.
