This may come to some as a touch 'inside', however, what truth about performing for people. It's funny how the women interviewing him is just uncapable of "getting it". Lol. Great bit of insight. Loved it.
@3909clancy I dont agree with that. He was the front man of a very influencal band and in many peoples eyes was a spokesman for a generation. Its beyond my comprehension as to what him and the Sex Pistols and PiL meant to people at the time of late 70's early 80's because Im only 21. But he's obviously had a huge impact on not only his generation but also future generations.
What i have always liked is his honesty, he genuinely loves what he does, even his old band mates! He knows his place, he is always my first choice to have a beer with!
@sail1948 You called him a rock n roll hero and rebel, he doesn't think that, neither do i. What he did do in the mid 1970's was open the rock n roll door wide open, against all odds, with virtually no support. Rotten and his band of misfits turned rock n roll on it's ear! The Pistols were never meant to be successful, their problem was they actually made a great album, one that has influenced thousands of rock bands ever since, some good, some bad! He can advertise whatever he likes.
@sail1948 You wouldn't be here making bullshit comments if you fought in the streets. And by fight in the streets I mean violent action towards the government, which you obviously deem what a real rebel would do.
@relaxingmusic101 Ha Ha Ha!! I've often fought in the streets but have to admit it wasnt against the government. Why do you assume that I think a real rebel has to fight against the government?
@sail1948 Because you criticize John for not being a rebel. If being front man of one of the first punk rock bands and screaming ANARCHY IN THE UK isn't being rebellious enough for you and questioning the system, then obviously you seek to change it through violent revolution like the RAF.
@relaxingmusic101 I dont criticise Mr.Rotten for not being a rebel I criticise him for pretending to be one. If you think he was in it for anything but the money you're kidding yourself. Incidentally Malcolm Mclaren called the whole thing "The great rock and roll swindle". I cant help but agree. I'm puzzled as to what tye RAF have to do with anything.
@sail1948 I don't think John was in it for only money, although I do think he was more or less used by Malcolm. But it is what music means to the individual, and for those following, and for John himself he was speaking out against the bullshit that society has made, and how it is self defeating to the individual. Without the Pistols their wouldn't be the Clash as we know them, and Joe Strummer was one of the most caring and honest people out there, who made next to nothing in the end.
@sail1948 Hanging around with his fans, showing his heart, and inspiring people to live for stuff that matters and not idiotic rules set up by people to make money and oppress others. The pistols never really cared about much and I think that is the image Malcolm set up for them. But the Clash cared about ideals and helping other people, and stating the honest facts about politics and control. By RAF I don't mean the Royal Air Force but the Red Army Faction of Germany, who used violent action
@pfmo5678ramone yeah he's deffo playing it fair and being a good sport with lauren lavern here...it's because he knows he wouldn't get any satisfaction from wiping the floor with her as he could do that in his sleep...far more pleasurable and satisfying to humiliate fry and sautee the brains of asshole journalists that deserve an intellectual bitch slap.

John Lydon is the biggest fucking faggot in the world. He is just a old washed up shmuck. Hes been showing what he CAN'T do on stage for 30+ years, instead of giving the audience any talent. All British people must be fucking astupid like him, am I right?
wen they started it was great its was everything ppl had been waitin 4 now look at him and the pistols bitchin about punks these days n shit like that, well wat does that fat slob do apart from act nicey nice n tellin ppl to get out the buissness if u dont like it n hes always bitchin how he hates it n they rip ppl off n put on an aparently good profromance,
lydons become what he hated, if he's really doin all this 4 the ppl then why does he rip us off on the tickets prices? hes talkin about doin the best he can but in previous documentaries he didnt seem to care if ppl liked it or not, hense not showing up to many shows and doin stuff to get banned or be kicked off,
theres loads of old punk bands still goin in the uk n they dont do these big fancy expensive shows! they stick to how it started UNDERGROUND for the real people. he's gone commercial n false.
Maybe it's because they aren't knocking at their door. How about the documentaries and other shows the Pistols did as early as 1976 with Bill Grundy, etc? Don't really see what the big deal is about "appearing on an interview" is. More press for him.
what they done at the begining was great they were what britain needed by far but everything they hated n was out to destroy is everything they are today, commercialism, big fancy concerts, comfoming with everything they eva hated and fucked em over in the past, rotten with his little speaches everywhere he goes yeah he speaks sense but he has started to become hypocritical with his age. im not tryin to be a cunt im just sayin how it is thats all.
I saw him for $10 (Canadian) a couple years ago, most expensive seats that night in the arena were $45. He invited all of us "fun, dancing, hard working kids on the lawn" to infiltrate the seated area and "say hi to these boring, rich people in the front row."
In comparison, I see The Cure at the same venue from time to time and pay about $60 for the same lawn seats.
This is the response.. (i'm singing this response) that I got to the ticket prices.. when he said 'this ain't gonna break the fckin bank" my mom said "good, let HIM pay it, then". That is what she would have told us if an artist said to us as teens 'the price isn't that much.' Ha.
lydons become what he hated, if he's really doin all this 4 the ppl then why does he rip us off on the tickets prices? hes talkin about doin the best he can but in previous documentaries he didnt seem to care if ppl liked it or not, hense not showing up to many shows and doin stuff to get banned or be kicked off,
