  • Before the Coordinators of Gundam Seed, There was the Clans !!! Earth Alliance wouldn't last against these warrior groups even with mobile suits.

  • Great documentry man this really good i give five stars!

  • Can't wait for Part 3, Mortarion12! Well done.

  • nicely done bit late noticing this

  • Great work, you got my respect.

  • Great work on both volumes of the history. It has been years since I have read about battletech this was a nice refresher on what happened. Sad to see there is no 3rd volume but I understand your reasonings. best of luck and thanks again

  • @dashihawk yeah I would def want to come back to this series; I even have the 2min opening of vol3 done actually, but beyond that nothing -_-

  • seyla.. from GB-Moneytrain aka TBH-Moneytrain well done

  • abridged and not the whole story, but on the whole, excellent work!

  • @glasssoul86 it has to be abridged; theres 25yrs of fiction to cover, it would require a history channel level of effort to do all of it! :P

  • I guess you're not continuing this, but great job anyway.

  • @Wintermute01001 lol that's what a lot of people been saying; well guess what?

A: im doing this for free

    b: I have a job/school/ other projects

c: I'm tired of resplicing the intro/outros of all MW games for material, and a year ago I asked for people to make some new material on Mech3.org and MekTek; no one replied or gave a darn

I aplogize that you get the brunt of this, but its the most expedient way to say it.

  • Great work on the videos! The BT universe has to be one of the most mind-boggling fictional universes ever created in the history of sci-fi. I still read the books to this day, re-reading some favorites, and others for the first time. I love the games, and am still praying for a movie to come out. Unfortunately, making a movie is a risky endeavor for a director. How does one appease both the fans, and others who would be overwhelmed by the history and language?

  • @aresye good question; personally I think Battletech is overdue for a nice rewrite; most fiction universes go through a few rewrites every couple of years and mostly to streamline them to make them better. Hopefully the new mechwarrior game sparks this process. ^^_

  • Please make the 3rd one!

  • I would love to but I've been sidetracked by other various projects and the lack of new material for MW

  • What's :50 from?

  • its the ending cut scene to MechCommander 1

  • Was never able to get ahold of that one.

  • If people want to quickly get a background on BT...Here is part two of it.

    Excellent work.

  • Thanks for this great video man *thumbs up*

  • I like the concept, and your video splicing is well-time, but please spell check your summaries. You have a good product going. Don't turn off potential fans with bad grammar and punctuation.

  • Good video, too bad the Clans origins and supposed miraculous leaps in technology far VERY short on the credibility meter...

  • not necessarily so, and they're not THAT advanced; most of their war-tech is just continuing what the Star League made, but when compared to the tech-deprived IS they do seem ridiculously powerful.

  • Agreed, if you remember correctly, the Clans are about 80% of the old SLDF. Their technology is based from and improved upon the old SLDF tech.

On the other hand, the Inner Sphere went to war and nearly all of the SLDF tech there was lost. Basically, the Inner Sphere are the ones responsible for their inferior technology to the Clans.

But, the tenacity of the freebirth pilots proved a true equalizer against the Clans' structured system.

  • It's easy to have a 'miraculous leap' in technology when (A) you've preserved most of it from the succession wars and (B) you actually have some spare time to work on it!

Because the Clans were separated from the horror of the succession wars, technology was preserved.

  • 3:33 BAM!!!

What a hell of a video! I'm totally overwhelmed. :D

And Clan Ghostbear before the damn Smoke Jaguars. YES!!

  • I beg to differ. The Light Clan Mechs in Ralph Reed's game on the Amiga were SOO overpowered, that I had to take-off HALF of their weapon systems just to give the Players a fair chance to beat them. :/

  • So far so good. Can't wait to see the 3'rd clip. Great job! I've always been a fan of the BattleTech universe.

  • It's nice to have the details of the Battletech universe expanded upon.

  • This Is freaking AWESOME!!!

  • thanks its so cool to see a condesed historty of mech warrior

  • thank you for watching! ^^_ hope you enjoy

  • Yeah this is good, I've been a mechwarrior fan ages now, actually the first comp game I ever bought was mechwarrior 2, But the sad thing was I never knew the history to it and this has cleared a few things up.

  • thats fanatastik.....

  • thanks!

  • Very good! When can we expect a 3rd?

  • in due time...

  • Awesome! I am going to subscribe to your videos now so i can keep up with it!

  • just watched this again. I love these! definitely the best mechwarrior/battletech movies I've seen on battletech. (sir btw)

  • looking back meny months later tis is still good, great job mortarion.

  • thank you very much sir or ma'am ^^_

  • This was great! probably one of the best battletech vids I've seen. Can't wait for the next one.

  • A nice introduction about the Clans. Of those 20 original Clans, there are only 15 left.

  • yup, that there are, dont worry i'll get to that :)

  • Awesome.

  • very good job, minimize the amount of background title scrolling (distraction with no value) and lessen the time between transitions when only text is viewable but a worthy effort to be sure.

FarCry theme, a great composition and well placed.

I miss the games, I've read 30 of the books but disagree with WizKids direction and lost interest around book 5.

    look forward to volume 3.

    great job.

  • ok i played mech 3,4 and mechcommander 1 i dont understand this crap...

  • this isnt crap, this is called "source" material, you know; where the story, events and people come from for all the BattleTech games?

  • Awsome Vid 5/5

  • thanky kindly!

  • Nicely done.

  • 4 mech2 mercs did u use titanium edition?

  • yes indeedy! love mw2:mercs TT ^^_

  • Mortarion... Nice work. I must ask. where did you find all the footage from. some of it i recognize from Mechwarrior 3 and 4 and if I miss my guess Mechwarrior 2 as well, but the rest... What's the source game/video?

  • the point is, the 'basics' cant fit into a single 10-minute slot [at least not a well done version of the 'basics']

if anyone feels this is going slow then they need to read more of the source material. Theres more to the clans than the invasion, the golden Century and omnitech! >:3

  • I know.

The Masakari/Warhawk thing was a joke for people who are "in the know." As far as Mortarion's reply, I direct you to a previous statement of mine.

"Just cover the basics and give enough to get people interested."

So yeah. I guess this means you agree with me.

  • grayfox, you are bing too subtile.

  • I did.

Being able to call yourself a Trueborn is something special. Too oftin I see idiots who think of themselves as Aiden's heir to all things Clan just because they know the difference between a Warhawk and a Masakari. They spew false information about their adopted Clans that would get them shot on any of the Pentagon Worlds. I did the research myself; that is how I know what I know. If others are unwilling to go that far, then they can join the Grey Death Legion for all I care.

  • actually there isnt a difference betweek the warhawk and masakari. The former is the real name the latter is the stupid japanese one. Also your argument only validates this series more because this series helps to EDUCATE people, hence why this channel falls under the Comstar affiliations. If people want to learn more the info IS out there, but this is for someone who wants to know where these things come from and why. :3

  • yes but that is assuming that ppl know how to find the recorces, or even have the desire to to do the research at all, witch if you ask anybody who is even slightly intrested if thay want to read 30+ pages of histry presented on the starleage alone, thay wont. that is why these is such a helpful recorse, and i relize that you and i did but once again not everybody is a hardlined as you or i, thus we cant expect everybody to live up to the high standeds that your years of reserch have garnerd.

  • It is impossible to be completely objective, although I applaud your attempt at it. The presentation feels like an introduction into a movie; I kept waiting for a bigass space ship to fly by overhead when it was done.

As far as BD's reply, screw em'. Just cover the basics and give enough to get people interested. If you want to get really anal, you could do a whole novel series on the Fourth Succession War alone. Oh wait, they already did.

  • hard line* (damn you microsoft word)

  • yes but gray, not everybody is as handline as you, I, and mortarion. these videos are good to watch but they don't present too much information we don't already know. instead we can use them as tools to educate ppl who are interested in cannon battletech and show them that there is more to this universe then a simple computer game and a crappy spin off sires. I say present all the information in as cool, and accessible medium as possible.

  • I enjoyed it. As far as the history of the Clans goes, screw em'. Leave it a mystery; it's part of the alure. If one raelly wants to see what it is like to be a Trueborn then they can damn well do the research. I did, and it's been a rewarding experiance, if not somewhat of a pain in the ass. People too easily take for granted what a literal LIFETIME of training can do for a person. For instance, Seyla is a solem vow and is used along the same lines as amen, only more badass.

  • yeah but lets not turn this into a IS v clanner thing, leave that for the forums and the fans :3 this series is supposed to be an OBJECTIVE look at the whole thing. ^_^

  • I have no desire to play in that dumbed down universe. (dang 500 charictor limit)

  • yeah its a little slower, but there is more to the clans than what most players know. The actual formation of the clans is not general knowledge and its good to tell people who really love the clans from the video games where exactly they come from. to do this means to take time and make sure enough material is covered for a person to grasp what is happeneing. Thanks for the critique ^_^ and for next episode i will take your comments in stride. LONG LIVE CBT! :3

  • overall though I think you are doing a great job and a service to hardline battletech fans who became disenfranchised scence FASA closed its doors late last year. please contnu to help keep the battletech history alive.

as for a mechwarrior 5 I hope it never comes, because then it will take place in the dark age universe, wizkids bastardized debotchery of the battletech universe after those card game makers bought out the battletech franchise from Microsoft.

  • to the wolfdragoons mission to the innersphear in that allotted time. I love your presentation, I love your pics, music, and in game footage that you chose to include, and the way you word the information presented really allows anybody with an aptitude for sci-fi to really understand the battletech universe in an exciting way without ever going over their heads, but ultamitly with this latest vol I fill that their was a lot of fluff and not enough information presented.

  • mortarion I enjoy these vids I relly do. in my batletech roleplays i use your last vol as a introductory video to the battletech sires so pal don't look at me like I am high, but ultimately I fill that vol 2 witch I was highly anticipating (mostly because it deals with the clans my most loved part) I fill like you are taking it a little slow, of the video I felt more information could be presented, in fact in this vol I fill you could have gone

  • good job man how far are you on number 3?

  • no where at all :P, got a lot of things on the plate, but dont worry this series is far from over!

  • ok i was just wondering.

  • Nice job man! Love it.

    Guess who this is :D

  • Oh gee! I wonder!

  • thanks 4 the vid good job.

  • I've always been a mechwarrior / mechcommander fan, rly hope they make a mechwarrior5 soon, great history, well made with game footage from everygame (or almost everyone)

  • yeah im hoping for mw5 as well, but i also am worried they'll muck it up like mw4

  • Awesome dude, loved the first!!!Great way to quickly get the story!!!

  • quickly? for a youtube vid I feel its quite methodical :P

  • minor correction: in the credits

    it should read: Benzine Studios
