Fact, at the Battle of the Little Big Horn, Custer was a Lt. Colonel. After the Civil War,

Just because someone is white Euro. doesn't make them any less apart of the Earth than a Red Man.
Wounded Knee, the Trail of Tears happened, but will it teach what occurs when you stop seeing a person as a human being?
its true indains are the only true americans.every one comes from pretty much every where else. i for one whish every single man in the whole 7th had been killed all 600 plus.custer was a fool and got what wad due it was indain land they were first.

How do you keep a people down? You 'never' let them 'know' their history.
The 7th Cavalry got their butts in a sling again after the Little Big Horn Massacre, fourteen years later, the day after the Wounded Knee Massacre. If it wasn't for the 9th Cavalry Buffalo Soldiers, there would of been a second massacre of the 7th Cavalry. Read, and visit site/great history, rescue at pine ridge. com
you are a fucking retard.. first of all I am a conservative white person and that your saying is just wrong.. its not liberal at all to start with its woefully ignorant of historical fact and I feel dumber for having read it.. it is sad that people like you with such racist viewpoints arent branded so society can see who has such intolerant viewpoints
i agree with you blooo100. and johnnyrotten- why the hell would we be jealous of you. your fucking tax dollars go to me and my people- ya'll are still paying us back. and we can own and run casinos. your trash talk has no effect dude. you arrogant white prick. we can get anything, free college tuition that is rightly owed to us and you got crap. we're still running this shit.
@iFrogsister hahahahahaha you think you won seriously look at us we own the whole country your lands are now ours and you will never have them back we won the only reason u get all the benifits is cause you were poor as fuck before and we still won in the big picture your small gains are nothing to what we got
@tomgibson605 In other words, white people came here and killed his brother to possess his brother's land, wanting freedon from tyranny, yet owning slaves, "all men are created equal", but only if you're white, at the same time professing Christianity. Discrimination laws against Chinese, all women, Native Americans and, ironically, against new immigrants. After white people STOLE the land, they polluted it and caused numerous plant and animal extinctions with their "superior" society.
@Tatooinedragracer its not being white that makes us hypocritical jack asses its being human its just white people get tons of shit for it but all people do bad stuff
@iFrogsister I agree with nothing, we owe you shit. If you think your people are so great, go back to your old ways, and dont get educated, you're lucky the U.S. does that for your dumbass race. No need to say thanks or anything, and as i recall, you never ran anything, we just always kicked your peoples asses, and your people just took it.
@generaltodd2 You are probably the dumbest person I know. You owe us freedom. That is a word used in the American vocabulary alot but it should not be given to a person like you.And there is also Native soldiers fighting in Iraq, and dying for the land that is not theirs anymore, just so you can survive another day to eat another big mac.You are just a immature rascist who probably doesnt have the Balls to say Shit like that other than on a computer.
@XxDevin2xX For one, you dont know me, so therefore your first statement is incorrect. I dont owe anyone my freedom, I have family fighting in Iraq, so ALL Americans can be free, even those who dont deserve it. Also, I dont like Big Macs. Dont say anything about the Army, it is an option to join, they dont have to join. I am neither immature, nor am I racist, also, you should learn some spelling. I could walk up to anyone and speak my mind, because of the Right To Free Speech.
@generaltodd2 I dont have to know you to tell that you are stupid. And I have family in Iraq, My dads Airforce and my brothers Marines so dont use that shit. And talking shit about my race is rascist retard calling us uneducated, and saying you always kicked our asses. Thats RASCISM.Dumbass
@XxDevin2xX Yes, I'am stupid, that is why I have better spelling and grammer than you. Again, the Army is a CHOICE, no one forces you to join the Army, so dont say anything about the Army. Yes, you're uneducated, that why we had guns, and cannons, and you had spears and bow and arrows. Perhaps it is racism, which by the way, you misspelled again, then I am ok with that.
@generaltodd2 Thanks for agreeing with me.And its not like I check my spelling this is youtube, not grammar class. But I cant do nothing about you but only god will judge you.I do not hate you,I wouldnt be a good christian man if I did that, you just simply have been watching to much movies. And we had guns you retard,And its GRAMMAR. Hypocrite. We took traded Knifes and pelts for guns. And I never said anything about the army. But like I said god will judge you and I know the results.
@XxDevin2xX But, a smart person, like myself, would want his gammar to be perfect. Yes I misspelled Grammar. It would appear my hypocricy knows no bounds. Yes, we brought Christianity to the Indians, If you were a Christian, you would capitalize God. I am a Christian, and believe in God. Just because of things I have said doesnt mean I am going to hell. True you did have guns, but, who invented guns? You do not know the results, you are not God.
@generaltodd2 I never made a claim to be God,and a true Christian man accepts all races, nor does he brag about intelligence that you do not seem to have. And I doubt you are a general, and what so called man collects dolls, and customizes them? And Im Part Irish also,so dont speak of superior races to me.And if my people were so moronic then why does the military still study their Tactics and fighting styles today? Also why has many scientists discovered new medicine from ancient Indian Medicine?
@generaltodd2 And we may not have invented guns, but we mastered them just as quickly.Your probably not even old enough to have a gun anyways. And you must not have a real in-depth detail on American history.Nor do you know enough about Natives to have an opinion of them.I am in the Air Force and proudly serve America its little girls like you that give her a bad name.Going on youtube and talking trash about other races like your the best.Thats why other countries think we are so stuck up.
@XxDevin2xX I happen to own a .50 Cal. Muzzle Loader to deer season, and a Colt .45 Single Action Army, thank you. Where as I do not know much about the Indian Wars, I do know alot about The Reveloution, The War of 1812, The Alamo, The Civil War (mainly), The Golden Age of Ocean Travel, WWI, and WWII. I am neither a girl, nor do I believe you're in the Air Force, you dont look old enough to be in College. We're stuck up, thats why we always win, because we know we're the best.
@generaltodd2 And I also own a Enfield 3-Band and I own 2 muzzleloading squirrel guns and many others ,And believe me I am in the Air Force, but I will admit Im still in the academy. And Im a civil war re-enactor and enthusiast.I am sorry it had to all come to this you may have been talking to just that guy but like I said,I may have mis-read but dont talk about a whole race. But you seem like a guy I would like(no homo) .So I will admit it I am sorry,Truce?
@XxDevin2xX Both nice firearms. The only drawback of the muzzleloaders is, if the deer runs away, it will be a while before you can get a second shot off. Ver well then. I prefer the Infantry myself, but enjoy the early history of the Air Force, WWI. I hope to become a Civil War reenactor soon. What regiment do you reenact with? I apoligize I had not singled out the person above, as the target of my statements, so I hope you will also accept my apoligies, as I accept a truce.
@generaltodd2 Im with the 31st Alabama Vol. Infantry Regiment. And yea but there is something more joyous in Blackpowders even with the drawbacks. It seems more fair to the animals to me,I dont like using big fancy high-powered rifles. And I also shoot longbows for hunting.
@XxDevin2xX Nice, so you're with the Rebs then? I will be joining the Union 7th Missouri Vol. Inf. The Irish Brigade. This is true Blackpowders are better for hunting some animals than others. I prefer a shotgun when Dove hunting, though. I wouldnt mind trying to Deer hunt with a bow.
@XxDevin2xX Lol Nice, I prefer the Union, of course. Perhaps we will meet on the battlefield someday. No I have not started on the uniform yet, but I know a sutler in Kansas City, MO. But I am open to more suggestions.
@XxDevin2xX Wait. Civil War re-enactor? How did you get in that kind of... thing? I hear it's like the people that pretend to fight with swords and wear armor, just a bit less dorky.
@Fantascular You sign up for it,and I dont use swords.Thats more of the cavalrys thing.Im just a basic soldier,I just have a rifle. And Ive never heard of a soldier in the civil war wearing armor.....
@Fantascular Hahaha no you just sign up for Different units,Im cherokee and my grandfather actually served under him.But Im with the Confederacy though.
@generaltodd2 And ill keep em coming, the whites didnt discover gunpowder. The Chinese did and many other nationalities imput their dicoveries on the invention of the gun. So no,it is not an all white weapon, nor was it only used by whites. And Native Americans were better at both hand-to-hand combat, and horse back riding.I have nothing against whites, just white-supremiscists like you.
@XxDevin2xX Keep what coming? I am aware the Chinese invented gunpowder and Leonardo DiVinci invented the first successful firearm, if I am not mistaken. I never said that whites invented guns, I just simply stated that the whites had guns before the Indians. I have nothing against Indians either just people like the person above, you will excuse me if I forgot his name, who believe that the whites owe the Indians everything. I am not a white-supremiscist, I Dont like people like that person.
The fact is. Gen.Custer was very arrogant in his war tactics. He once said "Give me 200 soldiers and ill defeat every indian on the plains". And no he did not go into this battle with his own regiment out of bravery. There were supposed to be two other regiements along with his own. He got impatient. He split his men and went in on his own. He got owned. End of story.
Custer was a colonel, although during the Civil War he attained the rank of a brevet general. Brevet means a temporary promotion to general. Although Custer kept his brevet rank for a time after the war, it was later taken away from him, and he was a colonel when he died. [If Custer had been a general at Little Big Horn he would have commanded more than one regiment.]
This movie was pretty good I like how it started.
I couldn't imagine what it would feel like being that young and alomst nearly killed by U.S. soilders and than getting ready to ride into a battle against General. Custer
with allies like War Chief Crazy Horse and Chief Sitting Bull WOW the chillz that would bring.
all the comments either favour of custer or against him forget the basic Truth of the history(though distorted by white men) "a whole nation/ethnicity was wiped off the world, there children forced to new/christian ways, there women raped/killed, there lands occupied forcefuly" and LO, great U.S.A is formed on the ruin of a old civilisation.
Greatest scene in movie history? Nowhere near being the greatest scene in movie history. Forget the fact this is a made for tv movie. This was a bad adaption of the book.
fuhrer08 , i did not say he was foolish. only left it open for discussion. In my personal opinion I do think him foolish but rather driven. I think way too many people yourself included are trying to apply todays standards(which will change again sometime) to a 19th cen man. LOOK at the big picture
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
You probably are right with that; we have to look at the context of his time, too. Foolish - yes, perhaps the wrong word for such a successful and obviously skilled officer, driven might actually be true.
Nonetheless, he did ruthlessly kill women and children, and certainly here the context must be considered too, but still I would definitely call him a hero.
When you go to Little Bighorn Monument, one of the first things you notice is how many of Custer's men died in two's, probably because of their being trained to fight like that. Only on Last Stand Hill do you see the grouping....interesting
custer wasnt egostical u are a idiots, he was brillant, rant and the rest of high govermenrt hated him for his fame he spoke out against grant in their mistreatmen of reservation indians and doing so his military career was ruined and he was sent on a fools misson to little big horn a reacit donts think so, the cheyeen broke the treaty i was peaking off and got their punishement at washita, now i like the indians but custer admired them but he was not going to run from his duties either, noble
Custer was most definitely arrogant; however, that did not necessarily make him a bad officer. Dissent within his command and the arrogance of his subordinates undermined his leadership and his own eagerness to get into the fight doomed his command. In truth Custer had sacrificed speed for fire power, he had left 4 Gatlin guns back at Ft. Laramie in favor of a light pack train.
His men were armed with single shot breach loading weapons and had the Lakota, Ogallala, and Cheyenne decided to use only bows, the results would have likely been the same. The key thing is, that they didnt just use bows.they had Winchester repeaters. Worse yet he divided his forces and diminished what little firepower he did have.
Gencustard was a racisit bastard, and if anyone believes he wasn't or was a hero is ignorant to history and first nations peoples.white people still don't see that we as a nation are still trying to live on the barren lands that we forced to live on. Come one we as indian people just finally are able to finally move on from this unforgivable massacier, look what they did to our "children" forced from their homes and placed in the hands of pedifiles (residential schools)
indians werent all noble either, despite what media and movues potray the cheyanne(allys of the lakota) broke the treaty and murdered 100 or so settlers, custer was sent and he attacked the washita a noble deed, killing the warriors but capturing the women and children, and in reality custers last stand lasted three hours he held them off a long time, he was betrayed by his own men reno and benteen whom refused to aid him and save their own coward hides.
What treaty are you talking about. There are many of them, and there are many different american indian tribes. Some tribes were very peaceful, others were not. However, I can't think of any treaty off hand that the Lakota broke, or at least any that the US hadn't broke first.
In the 1876 Fort Laramie Treaty, the Black Hills and the lands stretching to the Bighorn Mts. in Wyoming were given to the Sioux. Custer broke that treaty when he took a gold mining expedition into the Black Hills.
Coahuiltecan and proud of it. Native Pride! But one thing man this was a great assault but it wasnt "gangster" leave that term for drive bys on the south side. No offence. Great Clip btw.
I still love this scene. very empowering to a native like myself. I'm not the hippy type. sorry. but the cool thing is maybe in another century, there will be Arab movies with scenes of their heroes succesfully defending their homes from American invaders
The Native people have learned the scalping from the savageness of the whitefolk...it's written in YOUR history books...you are tickled by this scene becuz u are carry this savageness in ur blood...ur sick....i bet u are capable of killing...stay away from you...ps..there is help in a psych ward go before u hurt someone!
wow your a dumb shit. There's some something now called laws and they are there to prevent the citizens from committing these crimes. And, of course everyone is capable of killing we're all humans; the killer instinct is in every human being. You should take some psychology classes. And lastly, nice name:"pacmanfever1990" what a dipshit name.
"horselips" is wonder how you thought of that name? I'm not comparing this movie to the listing of the American Film Insitute (AFI)greatest movie. You're a dumb shit for thinking that. By the way this scene is the Greatest Movie Scene to me. You probably think the movie "Dances With Wolves" was a great movie.
Horselips?? Did tha guys give you that name after they seen your ass flaps all loose an bagged out or what?? haha Shiit i bet your best scene in movie history is brokeback mountain huh?? sick bitch haha I'm full blooded Lakota Sicangu/Oglala Desendant of Chief Wasicu Towa...which is American Horse for all you Winkte's hahaha my people are tha first an only nation to EVER take tha American Flag in war. NATIVE PRIDE!! OG IktomI
i reember when ever i wanted to learn about the army soldiers during the indian wars my mom would always yell at me cause i felt sorry for those soldiers
whatever arguments you can bring up (native, white, christian, in whatever favor), this truly is a bad ass scene. my personal favorite scene in movie history
why does your reply about my comment have to compare my comment to other view points advcating rape (or at least finding entertainment out of a rape scene)? ???
This is majorly different. The Natives were defending their families from the soldiers. Win or lose, this was often the case in most White-Indian fights. I don't see how that compares to rape. A Clockwork Orange is a pretty cool movie. Of course I'm a guy who likes movies. Never seen the Death Wish movies or the beast though.
I really don't know what you're talking about. Maybe you're in the wrong comment section. And i don't know what kind of sick jerk you are, but none of us Native Americans are into rape films.
This movie is a gross misrepresentation of the massacre at Wounded Knee, and this scene in particular is disgustingly stereotypical. This is what white people would have you believe happened, when the real events were significantly different. Perhaps you should make an attempt to learn about what really happened at Little Big Horn and Wounded Knee instead of posting this tasteless trash and applauding it as a great scene in movie history...you make me sick.
Okay!, C'mon this is as close as the historians can put in print and in film. I've had history classes that do not talk about the Indian Removal Act of 1830 just because I was enrolled in the class. The professors had to ask my permission in order to talk about the western expansion of the united states.
I am only praising the one of many victories the Native Americans had during the mid 1800s.
And in my opinion, this is the greatest scene in movie history.
Custer was an arrogant, cruel, insecure little man who got his sh*t pushed in because of his own hubris.
That's what you get for killing sleeping women & children. Things worked out differently when he was fighting warriors.

Read, and visit site/great history, rescue at pine ridge. com

jacoblgames 1 year ago
@tomgibson605 In other words, white people came here and killed his brother to possess his brother's land, wanting freedon from tyranny, yet owning slaves, "all men are created equal", but only if you're white, at the same time professing Christianity. Discrimination laws against Chinese, all women, Native Americans and, ironically, against new immigrants. After white people STOLE the land, they polluted it and caused numerous plant and animal extinctions with their "superior" society.

No need to say thanks or anything, and as i recall, you never ran anything, we just always kicked your peoples asses, and your people just took it.
generaltodd2 7 months ago
@generaltodd2 You are probably the dumbest person I know. You owe us freedom. That is a word used in the American vocabulary alot but it should not be given to a person like you.And there is also Native soldiers fighting in Iraq, and dying for the land that is not theirs anymore, just so you can survive another day to eat another big mac.You are just a immature rascist who probably doesnt have the Balls to say Shit like that other than on a computer.
XxDevin2xX 6 months ago
@XxDevin2xX For one, you dont know me, so therefore your first statement is incorrect. I dont owe anyone my freedom, I have family fighting in Iraq, so ALL Americans can be free, even those who dont deserve it. Also, I dont like Big Macs. Dont say anything about the Army, it is an option to join, they dont have to join. I am neither immature, nor am I racist, also, you should learn some spelling. I could walk up to anyone and speak my mind, because of the Right To Free Speech.
generaltodd2 6 months ago
@generaltodd2 I dont have to know you to tell that you are stupid. And I have family in Iraq, My dads Airforce and my brothers Marines so dont use that shit. And talking shit about my race is rascist retard calling us uneducated, and saying you always kicked our asses. Thats RASCISM.Dumbass
XxDevin2xX 6 months ago
@XxDevin2xX Yes, I'am stupid, that is why I have better spelling and grammer than you. Again, the Army is a CHOICE, no one forces you to join the Army, so dont say anything about the Army. Yes, you're uneducated, that why we had guns, and cannons, and you had spears and bow and arrows. Perhaps it is racism, which by the way, you misspelled again, then I am ok with that.
generaltodd2 6 months ago
@generaltodd2 Thanks for agreeing with me.And its not like I check my spelling this is youtube, not grammar class. But I cant do nothing about you but only god will judge you.I do not hate you,I wouldnt be a good christian man if I did that, you just simply have been watching to much movies. And we had guns you retard,And its GRAMMAR. Hypocrite. We took traded Knifes and pelts for guns. And I never said anything about the army. But like I said god will judge you and I know the results.
XxDevin2xX 6 months ago
@XxDevin2xX But, a smart person, like myself, would want his gammar to be perfect. Yes I misspelled Grammar. It would appear my hypocricy knows no bounds. Yes, we brought Christianity to the Indians, If you were a Christian, you would capitalize God. I am a Christian, and believe in God. Just because of things I have said doesnt mean I am going to hell. True you did have guns, but, who invented guns? You do not know the results, you are not God.
generaltodd2 6 months ago
@generaltodd2 I never made a claim to be God,and a true Christian man accepts all races, nor does he brag about intelligence that you do not seem to have. And I doubt you are a general, and what so called man collects dolls, and customizes them? And Im Part Irish also,so dont speak of superior races to me.And if my people were so moronic then why does the military still study their Tactics and fighting styles today? Also why has many scientists discovered new medicine from ancient Indian Medicine?
XxDevin2xX 6 months ago
@generaltodd2 And we may not have invented guns, but we mastered them just as quickly.Your probably not even old enough to have a gun anyways. And you must not have a real in-depth detail on American history.Nor do you know enough about Natives to have an opinion of them.I am in the Air Force and proudly serve America its little girls like you that give her a bad name.Going on youtube and talking trash about other races like your the best.Thats why other countries think we are so stuck up.
XxDevin2xX 6 months ago
@XxDevin2xX I happen to own a .50 Cal. Muzzle Loader to deer season, and a Colt .45 Single Action Army, thank you. Where as I do not know much about the Indian Wars, I do know alot about The Reveloution, The War of 1812, The Alamo, The Civil War (mainly), The Golden Age of Ocean Travel, WWI, and WWII. I am neither a girl, nor do I believe you're in the Air Force, you dont look old enough to be in College. We're stuck up, thats why we always win, because we know we're the best.
generaltodd2 6 months ago
@generaltodd2 And I also own a Enfield 3-Band and I own 2 muzzleloading squirrel guns and many others ,And believe me I am in the Air Force, but I will admit Im still in the academy. And Im a civil war re-enactor and enthusiast.I am sorry it had to all come to this you may have been talking to just that guy but like I said,I may have mis-read but dont talk about a whole race. But you seem like a guy I would like(no homo) .So I will admit it I am sorry,Truce?
XxDevin2xX 6 months ago

XxDevin2xX 6 months ago
@XxDevin2xX Keep what coming? I am aware the Chinese invented gunpowder and Leonardo DiVinci invented the first successful firearm, if I am not mistaken. I never said that whites invented guns, I just simply stated that the whites had guns before the Indians. I have nothing against Indians either just people like the person above, you will excuse me if I forgot his name, who believe that the whites owe the Indians everything. I am not a white-supremiscist, I Dont like people like that person.
generaltodd2 6 months ago
@generaltodd2 Well then accept my apology,I must have misread but while whites dont owe us everything, they do owe us alot.
XxDevin2xX 6 months ago

[If Custer had been a general at Little Big Horn he would have commanded more than one regiment.]

fuhrer08 , i did not say he was foolish. only left it open for discussion. In my personal opinion I do think him foolish but rather driven. I think way too many people yourself included are trying to apply todays standards(which will change again sometime) to a 19th cen man. LOOK at the big picture
pigmanobvious 2 years ago

You probably are right with that; we have to look at the context of his time, too. Foolish - yes, perhaps the wrong word for such a successful and obviously skilled officer, driven might actually be true.
Nonetheless, he did ruthlessly kill women and children, and certainly here the context must be considered too, but still I would definitely call him a hero.

When you go to Little Bighorn Monument, one of the first things you notice is how many of Custer's men died in two's, probably because of their being trained to fight like that. Only on Last Stand Hill do you see the grouping....interesting

custer wasnt egostical u are a idiots, he was brillant, rant and the rest of high govermenrt hated him for his fame he spoke out against grant in their mistreatmen of reservation indians and doing so his military career was ruined and he was sent on a fools misson to little big horn a reacit donts think so, the cheyeen broke the treaty i was peaking off and got their punishement at washita, now i like the indians but custer admired them but he was not going to run from his duties either, noble
hitokiriyahiko2008 2 years ago
Custer was most definitely arrogant; however, that did not necessarily make him a bad officer. Dissent within his command and the arrogance of his subordinates undermined his leadership and his own eagerness to get into the fight doomed his command. In truth Custer had sacrificed speed for fire power, he had left 4 Gatlin guns back at Ft. Laramie in favor of a light pack train.
roopr 2 years ago
His men were armed with single shot breach loading weapons and had the Lakota, Ogallala, and Cheyenne decided to use only bows, the results would have likely been the same. The key thing is, that they didnt just use bows.they had Winchester repeaters. Worse yet he divided his forces and diminished what little firepower he did have.

Gencustard was a racisit bastard, and if anyone believes he wasn't or was a hero is ignorant to history and first nations peoples.white people still don't see that we as a nation are still trying to live on the barren lands that we forced to live on. Come one we as indian people just finally are able to finally move on from this unforgivable massacier, look what they did to our "children" forced from their homes and placed in the hands of pedifiles (residential schools)
rickihailey 2 years ago 2
indians werent all noble either, despite what media and movues potray the cheyanne(allys of the lakota) broke the treaty and murdered 100 or so settlers, custer was sent and he attacked the washita a noble deed, killing the warriors but capturing the women and children, and in reality custers last stand lasted three hours he held them off a long time, he was betrayed by his own men reno and benteen whom refused to aid him and save their own coward hides.
hitokiriyahiko2008 2 years ago
What treaty are you talking about. There are many of them, and there are many different american indian tribes. Some tribes were very peaceful, others were not. However, I can't think of any treaty off hand that the Lakota broke, or at least any that the US hadn't broke first.
In the 1876 Fort Laramie Treaty, the Black Hills and the lands stretching to the Bighorn Mts. in Wyoming were given to the Sioux. Custer broke that treaty when he took a gold mining expedition into the Black Hills.

A CLOCKWORK ORANGE: the Droogs rape a guys wife while he watches, and simultaneously they kick him till he's crippled.
THE BEAST: an afghani is crushed under the treads of a russian tank.
DEATH WISH 2: when they rape Charles bronsons housekeeper, and it gets funnier! they rape his daughter, then she is impaled on a metal fencepost.
Or you can just browse some old concentration camp footage.
You sick Jerk!

why does your reply about my comment have to compare my comment to other view points advcating rape (or at least finding entertainment out of a rape scene)?

TrekMofo2k6 3 years ago
Okay!, C'mon this is as close as the historians can put in print and in film. I've had history classes that do not talk about the Indian Removal Act of 1830 just because I was enrolled in the class. The professors had to ask my permission in order to talk about the western expansion of the united states.
I am only praising the one of many victories the Native Americans had during the mid 1800s.
And in my opinion, this is the greatest scene in movie history.
