Are you serious? there's plenty of metal band that have bass solos. Worst advice you can give. No bass solos! REALLY cause your a metal band, COME ON. The only kind of bands I heard bass solos are funk bands and METAL! Bands.

If the music in the background is yours your definitely not metal,and alot of metal have bass solos, black sabbath, metallica, and iron maiden to name some, and the guitarist is talking about screamo which is pretty much the opposite of metal

the easiest way to record is a mic and laptop for a crappy demo. use sony acid or acid pro. but find a cheap recording studio near you for the best bet.
