Hi, I have a question. I'm thinking of getting a biUbe for a pair of dwarf seahorses. Do you know if the 9 gallon biUbe would be good enough, or would they be better off with a biOrb? I've read the comments on PetsMart.com and it seems people are having problems with them. How long has your tank lasted? Thanks in advance.
@stoowii I'm not familiar with the BiUbe, but I do think that it operates on the same principle as the biOrb, so it should be fine. My biOrb lasted 5 years. It is gone now, but only because...and this is the only bad thing I found about it...the lighting systems (LED and regular) get corroded by saltwater.
I ordered it through a local aquarium shop. It's best to Google "dwarf seahorses for sale" and find a vendor that way. You can also get them through Ebay.
@dontmesswithme201 I think they are about $5.00 to $7.00 per fish. They only get to be about 1-1/2" long. I have elected not to keep them anymore because the vast majority are wild caught, and they are under some environmental pressure nowadays. In the future, I'll keep captive-bred seahorses -- and larger ones too, that will accept frozen foods.
@mbrola So sorry I didn't see this comment until now. Yes, I think a Fluval tank would be fine for dwarfs. I had great luck with a BiOrb. All my seahorses have passed on now, but someday I'll have them in the BiOrb again.
Well, you have to be careful with the reef rubble because it always has hydroids, which can kill little seahorses like this. So you have to treat it with something before you get the seahorses. Other than that, though, it's easy and fun to have these fish (although you have to feed them live baby brine shrimp every day). I hope you try it.
Thanks, Andrea! I finally figured out a way to "get the yellow out" and took more video today. Of course, the better of the 2 videos was taken before I figured out a way to get the yellow out, lol.

this is so cute! ^^
Is there not sand on the bottom of the tank?? :/

Thank you! There is no sand on the bottom of this tank, but there is reef rubble (treated for hydroids), and aquarium-safe seashells.
