  • do no use any oil after they've dried or just use a tiny spec if u do and then pop em back in the reel and prepare to be amazed.

  • my bro has a video on here with his shimano 100SF free spooling for 2 mins and 30 seconds. He put it on here b/c nobody believed him when he would tell them about it. All you have to do is take a nice set of bearings. The ones that come stock in the higher end shimano's are awesome, and pop em out and leave the balls and shield and everything intact and drop em in lighter fluid for a few hours and then wash off good with water and dry good and then do not use any o

  • the description states clearly what was done with this reel, and what was used for lube.

  • The trick is simple... clean out all the lube in your spool bearings and use xtreme reel + on it. I went from 6 seconds to about a minute. The boca bearings help, but its not the reason why this reel spins faster. If he used regular lube, it would stop in a few seconds. The Xtreme Reel + is a dry lube, but it does not last very long. You have to relube after every trip if you want to keep the insane freespool times. TSI 301 is another option, but its not as fast as Xtreme Reel +.

  • hey have you ever done this to a citica? did you do anything else to this besides the boca bearings? Thanks and amazing! Congrats =).

  • @illicit0

the orange seals are GREAT in the citica reels. they seem to really do well in the D and E series citicas.

  • Hey mate, great video!

I'm wondering, I will be getting the Shimano Scorpion XT 1000, and what size bearings will I need to fit it? Boca website just abit confusing for me at the moment.

  • @yowiesan you need (2) size 3x10x4 for that reel. thanks for watching!

  • @kumaman I got my boca's but freespool time is only.... max 30seconds lol

what does "lubed with a minute amount of hot sauce oil." mean?

when i got mine, i removed the seal and put in 2 drops of Daiwa Oil into it.

  • Ever went to throw a light crankbait? Better bearing will help that spool start up sooner and faster. So you can make a much smother cast and lessen the risk of a backlash.

  • Would you happen to know what bearing I would need to replace the stocker in a Quantum KVD Reel?

  • certainly i will check. can you clarify the model number and year?

  • They are both from 2008/09

    KV1000CXD and the..KV1000HXD

  • i went today to look at the KVD reels you listed. i could not find one to check on. however, those reels are based off of the quantum code so the bearings should be the same. the spool bearing sizes/quantities for the code are :(1) 3x10x3, (1) 3x8x4, & (1) 5x10x4

    hope this helps.

  • Thanks kumaman, appreciated

  • excellent vid, did you remove seals and side plate from bearings or were they "as is"?

  • thanks Aaron!

the seals are intact. i have found that if the seals on these bearings are installed properly, that the bearing actually runs faster!

the most important thing is to make sure they are thoroughly clean, and lube with a minute amount of a very light oil.

  • Thanks Kunaman, appreciate the comment. Excuse my ignorance but how do you apply the oil to sealed bearings?

  • no problem! if you apply a tiny drop to the shield, it will find it's way inside the bearing. typically via the space between the inner race and the shield. if you've any more questions, please feel free to ask.

  • nice.

makes a neat video but when you hit the water and turn those brakes/casting control on it kind of doesnt mean much.
