  • This is the on tune that made me take another listen to this great sxaphonist. It was then that I realized that this man was a genius. Totally awesome tune.

  • fucking great great great piece of music !!! x

  • Boss fucking tune............! Outrageous

  • Ooohh mannnn ..! I'm gone man, solid gone..!

  • heeeeeyyyyyyhaaaaahoooooooo! LOVE IT!....always<3

  • I remember this from high school!!!

  • dentro......

  • WRVR

  • whew!

  • This One is Amazing, but I can't find 'Behind the Rain' :((

  • Yes, In. Deed.

  • Yes, In. Deed.

  • the one stupid that doesn't like this song is not normal...AMAZING!!!!!!!

  • @Jazzoidfusion89 "Not normal " is giving them the right to be called a "person", How could someone NOT love this playing, the force of it is enough to make you scream!!!!!!

  • I love this song... also love the growl. It's fun to do. I like to surprise people w/ it. =)

  • "Lenny White on Drums" puts it right over ... Peace .Had this record in late 70's and still .Gotz it.........

  • Gato was the best soloist I ever watched here in Denver he play non stop over 2 hours without a break and move me to total joy I am ARGENTINE like him so GATO PARA SIEMPRE

  • one person has no sense of good music...

  • @mysteriousssstranger :Lol. That one person need his/her head examined.

  • How embarrassing....the cd I found is his classic "Bahia".....

  • Love this tune....I seem to recall Gilles Peterson playing it many years ago! I was lucky to find "Gato" by Mr Barbieri in an obscure record shop in deepest Barcelona. What a find!

  • got this record...DOPE

  • Ah, 1977, UC Santa Barbara and all the RAZA crowd hanging around the Centro.

The parties in Isla Vista, the women, the politics and of course, the MUSIC. Viva Gato!

  • Adentro ! Claro !

    Vamos Gato todavia !

  • This was one "hot" record--caliente--well named.

  • Caliente is still one of the most epic albums I've purchased two decades after its original launch

  • so funky....

  • This tune has always stuck in my mind for the example of how a "mistake" can make a solo. At around 3:35 or so he tries to wail on a high note but "flubs", or fails to have it come out, a couple times, but when it finally does, the attempts make it that much more dramatic, & it's always been the high point of this song, for me.... A little musical "wabi sabi", like Wilton Felder, almost bursting veins in his head, holding a note, wailing, far more impressive than one circular breathing forever.

  • semplicemente: fantastico!

  • Gary Kings bass sounds great with the Flanger

  • love making music!!

  • Gato's political beliefs prohibited him from touring to the U.S. ,he's a socialist and I feel the U.S.gave him many obstacles atleast that's the way it was in the 70's & 80's.

    A Great talented sax player,his own style,not a Sandborn,nor Harp,nor Koz,.

But his own mellow slow style..

  • @carguymiami Actually, the story I believe Gato himself told, was that he had a really lousy manager, who just didn't get him much work, & it was very frustrating for him.....

  • I love this record.

  • This has gotta be no. ! tune or me + & that is saying something......

  • Hey, have you guys heard "Secret Fiesta" off his 1979 Euphoria album. it sounds similar, maybe it was a sequel to this track, maybe Gato thought his song was his best as well that he tried to make another song in hopes it was a hit like this one. Similar to what Paul Desmond did with Take Five, he made Take Ten in hopes it would be a big a hit as Take Five was....

  • I love this music, and also grew up on this. You just can't find provocative, sexy, intense, fabulous music like this anymore. Gato, your awesome.

  • @careny03 if you love this one, check this one out posted by kikuku94, Santana - El Farol (Studio Version)

  • @SweetnSaltyLife99 Also looked for it, but couldn1t find `studio` version - pretty cool tho anyway - thx

  • @jonnieob1 Let me help you, punch in Santana - El Farol ( Studio Version) in da search engine above, it popped up for me, peace

  • Grew up on this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i walked into a Tower records store and they were playing this song...i fell inlove with it!!! what a great musician....

  • OMG ¬ how funky is his sound . . . that rollin sax, & his chants & yelps.! Can you ever imagine being able to stand still to this on the dance floor . . . I know I never could, & hopefully never will ¬ long live the sound of Gato.! !

  • im only 12 and my daddy has me hooked on gato! lol

  • Gato Barbieri has a sound like no other. His tone always made me envision a fire spitter.

  • This song rocks!

  • Gary King did some great bass work on this album. This came out back in 1976

  • @oldschoolbbass

Without a doubt, Gary King is one of the most slept-on bassists from back in the day, and I agree, he was AWESOME on this album. I think his work on the "Desperados" cut was probably my favorite on this album.

  • Odawg96,

Yes Los Desperados was atrck track.I love gary's choice of effects to.He had the Flanger pedal set up just right.Fiesta was cool too. Gary did some fine work with Bob James also.

  • Sounded similar to Anthony Jackson.

  • Agreed. I dug Lenny White on this album too.

  • going to see him live tonight in tarrytown NY!!!!

  • =menet aclare bien PARA MI, jajajaj pero si un estilo unico...

  • true story, i first heard this on WJZZ in Detroit in 1978.

  • anyone know what happened to kassandra1's account? all her barbieri posts were cancelled! WTF?

  • My uncle turned me on to Gato in the mid 70's. Saw him in the Village in NYC in the late 80's. Fucking awesome. Gato rules!

  • I can remember back in the late 70's WRVR a Jazz radio station in New York City used to play this over the air. I love this song! (dancing a very smooth Samba). Thanks for sharing LamontCJ - you da best!

  • i remember smoth jazz 101.9 in nyc used to play this then i still hear it hal jackson's sunday morning classics on wlbs sometimes.anyway cool jam.
