Who taught that asshole phone etiquette? I understand that everyone was in a panic, but there was no excuse for that. 'I'm hanging up now!' Really? Even if there was absolutely nothing he could have done from his cushy, little office, he could have comforted him in some way. This is bad as the person who took Kevin Cosgrove's call, if not worse than. You just don't do that. They need to teach these dispatchers to have compassion.
My heart is beating wicked fast & I'm shaking so bad right now. I just had to stop at 4:57 I couldn't watch anymore. This is like watching a horror film even though I know what's going to happen. For those of you who have watched farther in though, is it really that bad? I like watching war movies & I'm fine with the gore in those films but these are real lives that are just too hard to see end. I'm studying to be a history teacher & this is just gonna be something that is so hard to teach.
@13.10 - 'I'm telling you to stay where you are' FUCK OFF, are you gasping for your last breath, crouched down on a red hot buckling floor scared to break a window in case your employer doesn't approve? NO. You are sat in a fucking air con'd office. That dispatcher is a Class A cunt, I hope he can't sleep at night and this call haunts him long into old age. The poor soul he was yelling at probably died not long after he hung up and THIS was their last contact with the outside world? Disgusts me.

I remember this day, i was sitting in class when they made the announcement and the whole school turned the t.v. on. when i saw this happen only thing i could do was cry and pray to god that he will help them out. their families must be heart broken. lets remember every who was harmed, died, saving others, and the families.
@TheColorSpace thank you. my uncle lost some of his coworkers from morgan stanley in those towers that day. Thank you for being respectful unlike these other bastard users.
If there were aliens in the world. Killing our own species is really stupid. We might look different of race & skin colour, but we are ALL humans. Do you see any animals killing their own species????
It's absolutely terrifying what humans are capable of doing to each other, and absolutely amazing that people ran back into the buildings to save others.
@bubbletime123 I was 7 and trust me you dont want to remember that day they had us evacuate school i was several states away, it was a terrible day and im glad i was there to remember but there are times i wish i wasnt
I'm 15 and I was in Kindergarden then. All I remember is going to school then everyones parents came to take them home and school let out. My dad was my bus driver and he didn't tell me why we were leaving early. I was just happy to leave school. After dad came back home from picking mom up from work they and my mom-mom and pop-pop watched the news. I stayed in my room and watched cartoons. I feel like I missed so much. I wouldn't have understood what happened anyway. God bless them all. ^^
Holy shit at the preteens here, making me feel old. I mean, shit, I'm 16, and I was 6 when it happened. I was in 1st grade, and I remember going into the living room with my family huddled up against the TV set. It really messes with me that there are kids living now who only know about it through school and documentaries. Damn.
you know the ASSHOLE 408 that was on from 12:30 to 13:20 really pisses me the fuck off. heres a guy thats trapped in this tower and has no clue of what the fuck to do and panicing and the dispatcher just hangs up on him. i know you gotta take calls but when you got every fire fighter coming up the last thing you wanna do is to scream at a guy whos trapped in these buildings and hang up on him. what a piece of shit
I was 12 when this happened and I was in my 6th grade class watching this. The whole class was in total shock there were teachers running around into our class to watch it. This is just so upsetting.
Every single person in the U.S who was old enough to remember will share their point of view of that fatal day, so many stories from across the coast had that mixed feeling of sadness and terror. Memories that will last throughout history and show future generation a tale not so long ago about envy and destruction from mad groups who wanted to terrorize our nation, which they didn't succeed because after this painful event, we finally became a stronger nation spiritually. Amen.
@bubbletime123 It was terrible, it was such an awful day, truly awful. I kind of envy you for being too young to remember it; a lot of people (myself included, probably) can't forget it no matter how we might wish we could.
I'm too young to remember Vietnam, or the assasination of President Kennedy; so I know how you feel.
But I wish you and your generation a lifetime of peace and happiness; I don't want you or anyone else to have to live through something like this again.

Was in my third grade class, I think all the teachers knew what was going on..but i think they wanted us to not know and not cause a panic, when i got home my whole house was silent and my mom was watching tv in just utter shock
I was 13. My grandparents were staying with me as my dad was in Washington D.C. on business staying right near the pentagon and my mom was driving to New York to visit my other grandparents. For some reason she decided not to fly out. I remember being in social studies class and someone coming into the room and telling us to turn on the tv because someone had just bombed the world trade center. We turned it on just in time to see the second plane hit.
i am 14. i was 4 when this happened. i remember i was home sick that day when it happened and my mom was panicking trying to get a hold of my dad because he works in the city. nothing happened to him and he is fine but i all i remember was looking at this smoke everywhere on the tv. i didnt know how to react i was crying and i didnt understand what was happening but i do now. god bless America. this was a tragic and will never be forgotten and my thoughts go out to those who lost loved ones RIP
im 13 and i cant believe all of this and how everything went down. i wish i there a way we can change the past cause I would change this day for good. I know the out come made us stronger but can we come stronger without vilonce but with peace.

19, I was 9 years old and in the 4th grade and the principal rushed into the classroom told us a plane crashed into the World Trade Center and turned the TV on and there was the north tower on fire, about a minute later the south tower was hit. it was absolutely surreal. Everything stopped that day. our country was like a dog that survives being hit by a car, the dog is ok, but something is never right with our country, it was never the same.
I'm 16 and i live in the UK. I remember my dad, who is not religious at all, telling me to pray for all the people who died, and trying to explain it. I didn't understand until much later the scale of the tragedy. We lost people too that day, and I guess it was a wake up to the whole world. The only problem is that over here we do the dates by day then month, so for ages you can't work out why 9/11- which here is the 9th of November- is on the newspapers now, in September. RIP
my god this is the first time ive seen this stuff. i mean all my life ive really only "heard" about it. seen a small clip here n there a couple picters of it but never the real thing. oh my god this is horrible. this really freakin happend. i mustve been in 3rd grade when it dkd
My parents are conspiracy theorist, but I can't imagine anyone, let alone our own government doing this to us. I mean just watching this seeing all of these people shocked and devastated. I can't even begin to understand this, I was only about three when this happened so I don't remember this, I just know that as an American my heart breaks every time I see these documentaries, people jumping, buried alive, and other horrible deaths. All I can say is Rest in Peace, and God Bless America. <3
I was in grade 3 when this happened but i remember that day so vividly. I remember turning on th tv and watching people jump or fall from the top of the towers, seeing the second plane hit and still after all this time im now in university but i still cry when ever i see these images. I wish i could forget it all but its our duty the ones who saw it to make sure that we never forget. I'm canadian but on that day i was an american. GOD BLESS THE U.S.A and ALL THE PEOPLE THAT DIED ON THAT DAY
I was 13 in 7th grade when all this happened Im 23 now. I remember this like it was yesterday and it still hurts me inside to see this. Our teaches were wondering if we should watch it and we didnt start watching this until everything had already happened. This is one thing that is hard to remember sometime but there was a lot of heros that didnt run away and try their best to save everyone. RIP for the heros that didnt make it home
I was in 5th grade when this happened. I remember watching the news (which we weren't supposed to be doing) and seeing the first tower fall. Live. It was terrifying. RIP to all the wonderful people lost in these horrific events.
this is just unbelievable. I am 12 so I don't recall what I was doing. all I remember was being rushed from day care back to my house and my mom staring at the tv. not only did the people in the towers parish but the people that were running away from the horror of the cloud of smoke died also. R.I.P
The guy who told everyone to stay where they were must have felt terrible when the towers collapsed. He had no chance of knowing it'd go down, was giving the information he had to give, but must've been awful to realize what the fate of those people was.
Yeah. I think about that a lot: A lot of the emergency personnel on the phone were trained at the time that the safest thing for people to do in that situation was to stay inside (so that they didn't get hit by falling debris, get hurt while trying to evacuate, etc. They were doing what they were trained to do, but it must really haunt them. :(
@bubbletime123 It's so weird for me to realize that younger people have no real notion of what happened that day. Such a strange generational gap, yet the generations aren't that far apart. I guess what i'm trying to say is that things have changed so much because of this tragic event yet there are those out there who dont' realize that
For some reason, the intensely surreal incongruity of a muzak version of Billy Joel's "She's always a woman" continuing to play from an empty nearby storefront at 13:40, as the camera pans up to hundreds of people awaiting their inevitable deaths in a massive inferno a thousand feet in the sky, is perhaps the most singularly disturbing piece of video I have yet seen from that day.
a dean at my school tld my class his story of survival in 9/11 and it was probably one of the most saddest and hear wrenching stories ive ever heard RIP all 3000 who died
@rick182z If you search long and hard on the internet, you might find the pictures and videos of the "jumpers" (the pictures and videos that were used at the trial of Mohammed Atta). I'm talking about the pictures and videos that they didn't show on the news... it was so horrible, there was almost nothing left of the people who jumped.
@jmsantander1 I didn't look for it. There was a late night documentary a while back about the Atta trial and they showed parts of the footage when they were discussing the evidence that was used against him. Apparently the footage and photos were released to the general public after the trial. My comment was in response to rick182z statement about the bodies of the people who jumped from the towers.
@lakelandchief No. That person is still moving. Awful as it is to describe, to fall from such a height the human body would have exploded, or burst. Instant death : (
That brief shot at 6.25, with people fleeing in terror as a squad of firemen deliberately and calmly march in the opposite direction into danger tells it's own little story poignantly.
I live in Israel, I feel very sorry for all of the lives which were taken that day. Imagine yourself we in Israel live these 102 minutes almost every day, dealing with terror and Islamic violance.
@kobydo2 What a disgraceful thing to say. How dare you compare 9/11 with Israel/Palestine. In Israel/Palestine we have to groups of people fighting against eachother.
This is the greatest terror catastrophe in history. At least show us some respect, instead of feeling pity for yourself about Palestine.

@unsignedchar

@lakelandchief Of course not. You are retarded

@lakelandchief
Lots of people jumped that day. If you can't identify it as a piece of paper, it was probably a person. :(
bhartman36 6 months ago
Their body was too intant for someone who jumped!
rick182z 6 months ago
@rick182z If you search long and hard on the internet, you might find the pictures and videos of the "jumpers" (the pictures and videos that were used at the trial of Mohammed Atta). I'm talking about the pictures and videos that they didn't show on the news... it was so horrible, there was almost nothing left of the people who jumped.
jjobie 6 months ago
@jjobie why would you look for that? that's sick
jmsantander1 6 months ago
@jmsantander1 I didn't look for it. There was a late night documentary a while back about the Atta trial and they showed parts of the footage when they were discussing the evidence that was used against him. Apparently the footage and photos were released to the general public after the trial. My comment was in response to rick182z statement about the bodies of the people who jumped from the towers.
jjobie 6 months ago
@jjobie My bad. It wasn't the trial of Mohammed Atta, he died in the attack. It was the trial of Zacarias Moussaoui.
jjobie 5 months ago
@lakelandchief No. That person is still moving. Awful as it is to describe, to fall from such a height the human body would have exploded, or burst. Instant death : (

That brief shot at 6.25, with people fleeing in terror as a squad of firemen deliberately and calmly march in the opposite direction into danger tells it's own little story poignantly.

I live in Israel, I feel very sorry for all of the lives which were taken that day. Imagine yourself we in Israel live these 102 minutes almost every day, dealing with terror and Islamic violance.
kobydo2 6 months ago
@kobydo2 I am so sorry :(
87alsjth 6 months ago
@kobydo2 What a disgraceful thing to say. How dare you compare 9/11 with Israel/Palestine. In Israel/Palestine we have to groups of people fighting against eachother.
This is the greatest terror catastrophe in history. At least show us some respect, instead of feeling pity for yourself about Palestine.
