@ASSHAT0 EXACTLY! I've bene saying this for YEARS- a moderate, pragmatic approach to the issue.
But they STILL paint you as "anti-worker" or whatever if you don't buy THEIR propaganda hook, line and sinker. Remember that bullshit about how Governor Walker was declaring a "war on workers" simply b/c he wanted to restrict PUBLIC state unions? Right... B/c Walker wanted to restrict unions THAT HE DEALS WITH AS GOVERNOR, ALL unions are suddenly under siege? All workers are threatened...? please
@ASSHAT0 There may be a "war" on public-sector workers in states like WI, but to monopolize the debate and call it a "War on workers" in such broad language is the most absurd thing I've ever heard! How does restricting the teachers' union in Des Moines, for example, make YOU less-able to form a union at Walmart?
Worked open shop and closed. the money is in open. Don't have to wait in line for a promotion. Get paid for what I do not the guy next to me. Heck I've gone back to closed shops and worked as an outside contractor and got paid better than the union schlubs. RTW would just make this easier to do...
Right to work as it is misleadingly named is bad for America. It is not about your right to work it is about taking away your rights to collective bargaining. Many work places have low wages, unsafe work conditions and are treated poorly by management. Try to negotiate your own wages and benefits without a union you will probably find your self looking for another job..
labor unions are the reason we have some of our labor laws in place. Union members went on strike to protest long hard hours, unsafe working conditions, unfare treatment, low pay. Some workers who tried to organise unions to create better working conditions actually died at the hands of company thugs. Oh yes there will be an influx of low paying jobs with minimals benefits. Most people who are against unions are very ignorant of how they function in the workplace. Proud to be UAW local #5
And you wonder why the whole country has turned to shit? It is because unions have protected disgaceful employees for years, held the companies and shareholders hostage, and in several cases led to the collapse of said company, leaving EVERYONE there without a job. The next day the same products that company made are on a boat coming from China. Very short-sighted indeed.
@bigredtaxi No I don't wonder why I know the cause is corporate greed. Congress has passed laws making it easier for companies to move out of the country. NAFTA and
other so-called free trade agreements are what is destroying America. Companies say they cannot aford workers benefits yet they pay CEOs multimillions in bonuses year after year. The American worker cannot compete with slave labor wages. Most union workers would just like to survive as the cost of living contimues to rise.
Right to Work actually means Right to be a slave and forced to work for less. If Bush was not such a conservative immigrant lover we would not have this problem if he would have protected the borders. American Indians can attest to that! Full of promises and pay cuts then making them walk the trial of tears. Nafta both parties are guilty of. Greenbay Packers vs. Cowboys, who are the real sell outs here?
@EasyEs - You have a good point. So go to work on Monday and tell your boss they don't have to pay you anymore since you don't want them to be forced out of business by having to PAY their employees. Oh sorry...you probably couldn't read this with your head in the sand.
Martin Luther King Jr. on the Right-To-Work issue
In our glorious fight for civil rights, we must guard against being fooled by false slogans, such as right to work. It is a law to rob us of our civil rights and job rights..Its purpose is to destroy labor unions and the freedom of collective bargaining by which unions have improved wages and working conditions of everyone...We demand this fraud be stopped.
owned, union bosses are gonna have to go back into the work force.

But unions and their utmost defenders LATCH onto this talking point as if it's "impossible to debunk", which is so laughable.

So they're less likely to even WANT to form unions AND didn't make much money to begin with, long before unions came to town.
whoo689 1 month ago
Correlation is NOT causation. Most of the RTW states ALSO happen to be a) very conservative and b) much poorer than the rest of the country.

Bullshit propaganda on both sides
It should be easier to get a union into the work force
but they should not be able to force people to join
