First came Ska (Bluebeat in the UK) then Rocksteady and from there it became Reggae. It's as simple as that...if you really want to go back further then you might want to know that the Ska scene in Jamaica has it's roots in Jazz and Rhythm & Blues. Know you stuff or just shut up... furthermore...Rastafarianism does not have any link with Catholicism.

Well a lot of Buddhists and Christians don't consider themselves religious either, but that's a different story. Basically a religion is a set of rules that tells you what is right and wrong, where as a movement of spirituality is just a group of people who are earnestly searching for truth from the most high God JAH. One Rasta can't look at another and say he's doing it wrong, unless the Rasta is obviously a fake.

A lot of Rastafarians are Christian, but not all of them, the movement started as people that believed Haile Selassie I was the second coming of Christ. Now there are a lot of different sects within the movement. 12 Tribes of Israel sect believes that Selassie's teachings pointed towards Yeshua, and that he was only a representative of Christ. They are Christians. Then there's fulfilled Rastas, they are Christian.

that theory is commonly enforced by some, but does NOT represent the movement. If it were a religion it would be organized and traditions would originate from that one theory, but it definitely does not so it is not considered a religion. And i have read in books that all forms of Caribbean music have originated from reggae. Reggae was influenced by earlier African music and a mix of american music such as the bass.

I read the info on wikipedia and that seems to be where your getting this from. It's complete bullshit. Ska and reggae have nothing to do with each other. It is a difference sound, different instruments, different style. All of these genres originated from Calypso. But ska was more american than anything else. Reggae was more african and stuck to it's roots, and if anything reggae developed from Calypso, Ska was too american.
