Very high tempo changes the character of this music! This is like a Guinness record for high speed akkordeon . He can play piano like a virtuose, but the cat is shooting over the piano keys. Zez made this composition for an intention of the sound what a real cat make by walking over keys.
He isn't changing the melody. The only time he's deviating significantly from the score are on the vamp and breaks, same as anyone else would. Bill is an historian; he knows what he's doing.
Yep, you are quite right. In fact if you had read the writeup (to the right of the video and click on "more info")you would have noticed that old Zez's name was already listed there, and it was there when I first uploaded this video back in February this year.
@tdub1941 wasnt Frances Scott Key a poet? aside from being in the war of 1812, he wrote poetry... star spangled banner was put to a previously existing english bar song...

Praise the Lord Jesus up in the sky!
Hallelujah & roll in the isles!
Ain't it great!

@tdub1941 They'd be rolling the aisles, not the isles (unless there are small islands among the pews.) Yay for homonyms! Words mean things :)

You have chops - I'll give you that - but one suggestion:
Embelishing is one thing - but at least if you're going to do it - play the right melody....embelish...don't change the melody

This wasn't by Scott Joplin.

Maybe it was composed by Frances Scott Key?
tdub1941 3 years ago
Frances Scott Key wasn't a composer; this is by Zez Confrey.

I now have the music to this one, and it is no light weight endeavor to learn it! It does look fun, especially Bill's spicy version! 5*
