I've been thinking of going this setup a while, jeep are terrible on gas as far as milage goes. I hear these things will get somewhere in the high 20's mpg
@welderman27 I have heard of people getting that kind of mileage, my driving style and commute get me about 21mpg average. I thought that was bad until i got my tdi jetta wagon where people get 40+ and I get 31mpg on the same route and driving style as the jeep. This is with 31s and 3.07 gears so really I'm happy with 21mpg (GF got 12mpg with the 2.5 in it)
@mrtopher1980 Thanks, I have the 4.0 straight 6 and yeah it's about 12-14 mpg, I only drive it when I pull my boat and around town. Primary car is a Mazda 3 but hell if I could get 21mpg in the jeep with this motor I'd get rid of the mazda and get away from these dam car notes. Since you have added the insulation is it alot quieter? I read your thread on 4btswaps.
One real question I have is there anyway to hook up the a/c compressor to these engines? Down here in Louisiana you gotta have a/c
MAN THAT IS SUCH A SWEET SET-UP!!! I've started one myself on my 97 TJ, what did you get the intercooler off of and did you make those boost tubes yourself? I'd love to know the specs on the engine and where you sourced all your parts at. I'm having problems finding all my parts!
@ftdavisjeep My main job/hobby is VW/Audi tuning, I had the stock intercooler off my 2.0t Audi A3 laying around and it fit right in. I knew there was a version in europe with metal end tanks so I ordered that. The inlet/outlets needed to be modified but but it fits in great. It is from the Audi S3, it can also be found in the US TT-S but you need to specify the metal version as there is now a plastic one. Most of the parts including the engine are from scouring ebay or I built myself.
hey bud nice jeep! is that the inline pump (p-pump) 4bt? and also is that a 6bt manifold just cut and fabricated?...ima do the same swap in the near future. thats a real neat swap u done there well done!!!!!!!!!!!
@quadzilla26b It is a VE pumped 4bt, I was looking for a p pump but the price on this was too good to pass up. The exhaust manifold is a center outlet 6BT manifold with the ends cut off and welded. The intake manifold is also now off a 6BT to get the factory intake heater which I need to wire now that it is getting cold again.
That is awesome. Be sure to post a video or two of it running. Or maybe for us diesel AND Jeep lovers, a video of it throwing all that torque to the ground!
