@shanike1000 I gave you a thumbs down. The more I see of Win8 I'm hating it as much as I hate Apple. If I wanted a screen full of gigantic icons... okay that's just stupid because no one would. I would literally use Vista before I used a UI made for a phone on a desktop. You can not possibly argue that this is anything but a step backward.

@glacia00 Well, it seems like you haven't quite understood the concept behind "Tiles". Tiles are not icons. They are widgets. Tiles don't just display the icon and the name of the application. They display the highlights of the application they are representing. Ie: The Socialite app tile displays your FB updates. Plus, it's down to your personal preference to use it or not. And, You can always turn off Metro interface in windows 8 Know the facts first. Then choose to hate or love.

@Xieth420 Well first off, there is no windows 8 Beta yet. The Consumer preview will be the official Beta and it's not out yet. So i'm not sure what OS you are using to start with. I'm referring windows Developer preview here (which i'm testing for microsoft), and the start button, tile animation, Metro interface is NOT exactly speaking windows Metro. If you really wanna know, he's using "Omnimo 4 for rainmeter". Just google it and see. :)

Microsoft have shown on their blog how the Metro UI is really good for mouse and keyboard. If you click the start menu, the further a program is from the cursor, the longer it takes to click it. In Windows 8 clicking start brings up the start screen, and more programs are closer to the cursor because its not one list. So, yes it looks designed for touch and would work really well on a tablet, it's also meant to be an improvement on Windows 7's start menu.

What a horrible eye sore! This will be Microsoft's biggest mistake since Windows ME. Businesses will not run this. Even most home desktop users are going to be extremely disappointed. This "reinventing the wheel" thing has already pissed off many in the open source world with GNOME 3, Unity, and KDE 4. Now imagine telling people they have to PAY to have their entire desktop experience ruined.

If I wanted to run a tablet OS on my desktop, I'd use Droid in a VM, but guess what? I don't.
