I was a teenager when this episode aired and it was the first time I had EVER heard this song and at 41 years old it is still one of my favorite songs
If we all help out and support the Michael J. Fox foundation we can do this great actor a great service and help treat/cure Parkinson's disease. Tho in my opinion the most heartfelt and genuine moment in TV history is featured on my channel, or just search for Family Ties Fishballs here on youtube. it's a powerful scene.
This is a sitcom worth its weight in gold and these two episodes were amazing. The song, the situation and the driving towards the prom and stopping past the signpost, reversing and driving the other way. its such a simple scene that lasts 10/15 seconds but it has so much power, so much emotion. When i saw this i always wanted to write the scene into a novel and i managed it. Bring this back 25 years later
I hated Lauren, Ellen was the only one for Alex. She was always his true love. At the series finale Ellen should've came back from Paris and Alex should have proposed and married her.
@acreese007 NO! you are very wrong they are still Tracy and and Micheal are still married, ever since 1988 and love each other very much. Their love is forever because it's true love not some cheap Hollywood marraige
Whether they fell in love during the show is unimportant. They did fall in love. They did marry one another - and you never hear anything negative about their relationship - even during his illnesses. Yes, this is the song that people will remember in years to come!
A perfect song, sung by one of the best in the business, with a real life love affair that has lasted the test of time. A fairy tale that came true......as the song is begging to happen. Sensational that it happened on TV, acting, that turned into reality.
Frickin awesome...this song brought a little tear to my eye every time I heard it after this episode. Really spooky that they ended up getting married and they're still together after all these years...
You might say that this is Michael's and Tracy's song, 'cause they got married, in real life. The Beaters hit #1 in Billboard, 1-24-87. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx! Have a great week!
Don't like to burst your bubble but they had no romantic interactions during all the family ties episodes. It wasn;t until a couple of years later that they started dating when they were working on a movie togther.
Thank you for posting this. I was thinking of the song and had to find it. What a great show and a great song. The sitcoms on in the 80s had such heart. Maybe I'm just remembering thins with a bias. People were kinder to one another than they are now.
Tracy Pollan is so lovely. She is such a wonderful wife to Micheal especially when he was first diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. She was so loving and compassionate to him. Their marriage will last forever.
@materialgirl8707= She is unlike the whores that betrayed their husbands. Leean Rimes, Meg Ryan, and so forth. Ryan got hers when Russel dumped her at leas. And Leann will get the same when her asshole lover dumps her too. Once a cheater, always a cheater. Britney learned that the hard way.
thank you so much for putting this up. I too love the song At this Moment and loved the show back then. Haven`t seen it in, WOW 26 YRS!!! I still remembered the speech from Alex word for word. It made a huge impact of me :) I love Michael J Fox :-D
Just watched this two-part episode from 1985, titled "The Real Thing", on HUB cable TV channel. I loved the show back then and I love the song "At This Moment" by Billy Vera, which hit #1 in January 1987.
wow i remember this episode and i was quite young then family ties was like the heart sitcom on the 80s!! always remembered the song havnt seene this clip in forever.... but it feels like yesterday where did the time go?! bout to watch billy vera and the beaters vids next! stuck in 80s want to go back!!!
Wow, I had no idea he married her. I was just a kid when I saw this episode when it premiered. I heard this song on the radio the other day and it still makes me think of this episode. Thanks for posting. I just relived a happy memory from my childhood.
as being president of the family ties fan club, it really feels orgasmic to know you all care so much to what i have dedicated my life too. that frisbee scene! hahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah! LOVE TRUE LOVE!!!!!!
There is a blank spot in the middle, but Michael was to become more of a hero to me that I ever dreamed of..and they both went on to change each other's lives and the many afflicted or blessed, with Parkinsons <3 <3 <3 <3 <3
