wtf..this is so out of rythm it doesn't make sense anymore....sometimes it can be cool, but this is rubbish...and, for those who'd say why am i listening then, I am not. I stopped to write this at 0.44 and will go on to another version. :)
@clairens Well - they're from france, and an alternative band,so I don't see how you'd expect them to do a *fab* job of a bossa song either way. It seems pretty mismatched to me...but no bother.
@fortrevoryoung Herbie Mann played in the track, he's just not in the video, where he was replaced by the goofy guy in a mexican (?) hat - whose performance btw suits well the "tropical irony" take of both the video and the arrangements. this version was recorded for the 1996 collective album Red+Hot+Rio - which btw featured Tom Jobim himself in another track ("How insensitive", sang with Sting).
This clip can be found on the CD "Red Hot + Rio" - put together around 1996 for the Red Hot Foundation, combating AIDS. There is a video to accompany the CD, but I cannot find it anywhere. The whole CD is covers of great Brazilian music. The kicker on it for me is George Michael and Astrud Gilberto doing "Desafinado" - it'll stop you dead in your tracks.
great stuff

I love this clip. Really cool. The flute player is ok. Not Herbie Mann but that is totally fine. He works it.

Grammy Award for being very cute.

Yes, most definitely not Herbie Mann. This guy is far too young, less adept, and much more amateurish than Mann
