  • I wonder if he eats in a Tuxedo often...

  • For Keir to chose (and remember) THAT line, just cracked me up and made my day. Hilarious! What's cooler than seeing your old hero is still going strong?

  • Keir is known to be a very nice guy

  • I can't believe, after 41 years, he still remembered that whole line. That's fantastic.

I'm so jealous of everyone who's met them. If I had the opportunity, I think I would just die.

  • keir's the man!

  • It is great to see them both doing well. They played truly remarkable roles in 2001...the most epic sci-fi movie in film history, bar none.

  • Two of my favourite things... 2001 and SETI.

  • I had the privilege of meeting these Gentlemen here at Sci-Fi '10 here in Tulsa. True pros, very approachable. I was amazed how down-to-earth these legends were. Look forward to next years convention.

  • these are two top guys...i met them at a convention a couple of years ago,and they couldnt have been nicer,a great pleasure to meet them........and especially as gary lockwood knew elvis! lol

  • Seth Shostak is a alien in disguise, be afraid be very afraid of him

  • min 2:43 "Stanley was an anal type...a very detailed man"

XD!!! I´m sure The Koob would appreciate that one Gary ole boy.

  • the last part of this video was awesome!!

  • Legends...

  • Dullea and Lockwood provide a refreshing perspective on making "2001," but Keir's comment about Kubrick, that, "you knew you were in the presence of genius" is telling. Arthur C. Clarke once said that Kubrick was, "...the most intelligent person I ever met." 2001 remains the best sci-fi, and possibly the best film of all time.

  • I heard this conversation on 'Are we Alone'.

  • Such a death stare in their.

  • What concerns me is that what Mr. Dullea regarded as gobbledegook to be memorized by rote because he didn't understand it? I understood every word of it and what it meant. Even as a thirteen-year-old in 1968, I understood he was reporting a possible failure in a vital component at a distance too great for conversation due to light-speed limitation.

I used to be proud to have had that kind of knowledge at that age. Now it's seen as a symptom of ADHD or Asperger's, not as being intelligent.

  • Phil Mc Crackin.

  • When Keir's character in Starlost was pulling the memory modules from the computer, i was just itching for him to make some sort of déjà vu remark. The scene was a painfully obvious ripoff to begin with, but for him to be doing it, had me in stitches.

  • But the big question is...

Does Gary Lockwood still have those magnificent legs???

  • I love Seth Shostak! Are we alone is my favorite podcast!

  • I think '2001' (or it's sequel) inspired me in astronomy, in that I felt a facination towards planet Jupiter.

It's one of the reasons I like both films; they're set in our own solar system, and portray them rather realistically (given what we knew at the respective times).

  • Phil u lucky bastard ;)

  • How about subtitles? I have to strain to hear them over the background noise...

  • Dave? Dave... What are you doing, Dave...

  • Taking a stress pill, I should think....

  • Seth rules! And so does "Are We Alone!"

  • Excellent - thanks for uploading.

  • 2001 is in my top favorite movies. It's fitting, really--no one else in my circle of friends has the patience to sit all the way through it. The pace is too slow for them.

  • Hmm I don't know them... :( Going to buy this movie..

  • You mean youve never heard of this movie...in your life?

  • No...

  • Don't go into the movie expecting a Star Wars type of movie. The Movie is very slow paced and the ending is very ambiguous.

  • Yeah, Lockwood also achieved transcendence just like Dave Bowman in 2001, just as a different character :)

  • Well if you are brave enough to read 3001 you will find out what happened to Frank.

It's a turd of a book to wade through but not as pointless as 2061and he does succeed in painting a future where mankind has finally banished the virus of religion.

  • Was referring to his role in Star Trek, but I did read that Frank's fate is discussed further in 3001.

For a better book about HUMAN transcendence by Arthur Clarke, maybe Childhood's End?

  • I find it appropiate that one of the stars of the greatest sci-fi movie should star in the (aired) pilot of one of the greatest sci-fi television series.

  • haha, nice one.

  • The gentlemen seem to be still going strong.

  • very very cool.

  • Fraking COOOOOOL!!!!

  • Wow, that's pretty cool! Awesome video.

  • Excellent upload!

    Thank you!

  • Heh, nice.

  • Yeah! Thank you so much.
