  • Did you have the powerpacks checked prior to replacing them or by trial and error. My 1987 J50 -I think is going into SLOW. After chasing what I thought was a fuel problem for several seasons, I went thru the fuel troubleshoot many times. The boat shop checked the Ppacks, oils (somehow testing voltage)-said they were fine. My motor ran great for about 2 minutes then shutdown to a slow mode. I took off the cover to check thermostat and water jackets, -ok, doing impellor next..PP check???

  • main thing to point out omc got you home

  • This was what happened me a couple of months ago.....only difference was that when i hit full throttle the boat did qround 7-8knots and it drank gas as i don´t know what so i ordered a used one but in good shape and voila.....didn´t drink tons of fuel anymore and it now runs like a "clockwork"

Well there is one other differ to this engine tho, mine is a 1982 evinrude 60HP but back at those days johnson/evinrude actually worked awesome together :)

    Cheerz

  • This was solved. The issue was a bad power pack CD2USL that was putting the motor in SLOW mode.

  • its stuffed

  • Jesus Christ, stop doing that your going to fuck it up bud

  • Sounds like a bad coil or spark box. I assume you squared it away by now!
