very nice! thanks for uploading and don't listen to haters, they just don't know about freshly built rotaries. My FC sounded exactly the same with the base tune. I didn't even manage to get it started the first few times.
Ok, you've seen me before and I am totally not one of your haters man. But I have to say this, why does everyone insist on murdering their starters trying to start a freshly rebuild engine? You aren't suppost to run starters that long man, they overhead easily.
@aaroncake Are they actually using a stock OEM Starter? I'd expect something aftermarket. And even then browsing through the service manual it says you shouldn't have the starter running for more than ten seconds, and you should allow 30 seconds to a minute between starts to let it cool down. I've never seen a starter blow up, but my buddies 90 FC GXL starter is having some issues because they've been beating on it so much, trying to get the car to start.
@DivineWindSerpent I don't think there are any aftermarket starters for the RX-7. Not saying they won't fail of course, but it seems that Mazda thought about the possibility of a flooded engine when spec'ing the starter.
@osnapitzKaileyxoxo quite the educated comment. i see your intellectual logical fallacies render you as an entity almost synonymous in description with "troll".
@layes64Nova There were only a few sets produced about 6 years ago so they are probably going to be almost impossible to find. I think EastBear still produces their FC headlight kit.
good job,hey on youtube under peter laquis 20b rx7,man i saw a street car running pump gas ,700hp 568ft,and ran 9.68sec,thats amazing, the guy is from trinidad i saw his phone number ,stock gearbox ,stock supension, keep up the good job
@kickersup420 This is literally the *first* time it has been started. The ECU has nothing but a base map, so of course a fresh engine on a base map is going to be hard to start the first time.
@wild13bt A half bridge only bridges the secondary ports. Bridging only the primaries would be rather pointless unless you just wanted a pulsing idle and poor fuel economy.
I can't wait to start my new half bridge this weekend for the first time I will record and post video so rotaryisgarbage can have another video he can be jealous of like a little pansy boy... @aaroncake Makes sense as the original requests have not been fulfilled. How can I be entertaining talking about a junk engine? I do not come on here to entertain.
@Rotaryisgarbage I just figured that since have posted negative comments to almost every rotary video I see on YouTube, that you must have an extraordinary amount of time on your hands and would have spent some of it at least coming up with original material. I guess not. I'm highly disappointed at the lack of entertainment but I'm sure it will pick up as soon as you find my Cosmo videos.
another good point, rotary rebuilt is what? a couple gaskets most the time? how about a piston rebuild? how long do you think a piston engine would last at 9-10k rpms?
This Rotaryisgarbage fella has no life whatsoever he sits on his computer and talks shit about rotary's all day! Every video i click i see him saying something... Yet he doesnt have shit to prove anything he talks about...
I know that the rotary is junk and this one is no different. It won't last as most rotary engines do not. Get a clue. Look at my favorites and be educated.
@Rotaryisgarbage A fresh bridgeported engine on an untuned standalone is rather to start the first few times until the engine has run in a bit and the EMS adjusted.
I hope you continue to troll my videos. It's always uplifting reading these comments because I know that someone who does this must have a very empty life, and it reminds me and others how good our lives are in comparison.

@fallingxlove The headlights are an old CP Racing kit (I've mentioned this in previous comments). They are no longer made and have not been for quite some time.

check out megasquirt. if you're handy with a soldering iron, it is fully programmable toget it right were you want it. type in megasquirt rotary on google, and it brings up some good info.
I didn't know megasquirt had a rotary one. Maybe I will go that way. I don't mind soldering stuff thats not an issue. Hum... Lol now I must start really looking into this rotary to add to the collection....
While the Microtech is a great ECU (I have an LT8s in my 2nd gen), they don't really have many features. They are a bare bones ECU that must be optioned from the factory to support things most other ECUs do by default (idle valve, boost control, etc.). And they still don't have save to disk, closed loop, 3D timing tables, etc.
Yeah I spose what you say is true. I have an MT8 on my FC. I meant that the features are available if you want them.
I personally love the Power FC, had one on the ex's R33 apart from the fact you need to have an AFM (unless you have the D-Jetro which is superior to the FC)
Microtech won't seem to answer my emails, so I don't know if I will ever be able to get the features I want added to my LT8s. But these days, I find it hard to beat the Megasquirt.
Here in oz everyone uses Link, Wolf, EMS, Micotech, Haltech, APEXi and the major bigger name JDM suppliers as well as all the piggyback systems and parts.
It all depends on what your tuner knows as well, uless you are tuning yourself but I leave that to the shop.
Well i dont think i said anything wrong. It does sound low on comp. That is how they start when they are low on comp. Anyone in the know how will agree with me. But it has been replied already that the crank map on the ecu has not been setup, hence why it is hard to start, which is definitely a possibility, when they dont get enough fuel on crank, they sound like they are low on comp. Common knowledge for a tuner.
It's not a "possibility" that the crank map is not setup, it is the truth and why this engine was a whore to start up. That was only the 2nd or 3rd time the car had ran. As it turns out, I am in fact "in the know" then it comes to rotary.
What does that even mean? Of course it shows, because that is the situation. A fresh standalone on an untuned based map is going to he hard to start. End of story. I was tuning a twin turbo 302 about this time last year and guess what? It was a pain to start on the base map.
Unlike you, Aaroncake has the knowledge to back up what he says. Unless you can back up your "experience" like Mr. Cake can, then you're just another "Youtube-Tuner" that's seen enough LS1 RX7 videos to think he's an expert on the subject.
It's pretty obvious who is acting like an idiot here. It's the troll who seeks out rotary videos and makes negative comments. I see nothing in your YouTube profile that indicates you have any idea what you are talking about. All I see are comments from other users that you have been trolling their videos. 95% of the comments you have left for others are negative and hostile for no reason. Very successful troll.
Pistonally challenged: One who doesn't understand the rotary, and thus hunts down rotary videos on YouTube and makes inane comments born of ignorance. Funny, I don't see rotary people running around yelling "piston engines suck!" yet I hear "rotary engines suck" all the time from piston people. Guess that shows who is more mature.
If you don't see that I suggest that you look further into the ones that say that a V8 transplant stole the sole of the Rx7 and anyone that does it is an idiot...Do some research before posting,
But those why say that V8 transplants ruin RX-7s and talk about things like soul are to be ignored, just like those who say rotary engines suck and break all the time. Two sides of the same douche-nozzle.
It's not like you can get or need to install aftermarket "internals" in a 13B. About the only option is a two piece eccentric. So you have really no choice but to use "stock internals". The porting will cost about $300 on top of the typical rebuild and then you need the EMS, fuel system and turbo stuff to make the engine worth running.
hahaha all this talk of rotarys and there pistons, i know... maybe if you put some new pistons in my 20b-pp it will go faster, on second thought i think my rotors do a better job=p
It's a pretty big deal as far as porting goes. A bridgeport adds an extra eyebrow port above (in the sense that it opens sooner) the main intake port. It totally changes the character of the engine. Google "rotary engine illustrated" and read up on porting. This is pretty basic stuff that you should know if you are considering swapping another vehicle to rotary.
never rev a car when the engines cold. the oil hasent got round the hole engine and things like the pistons will get hot quickly and wear out. just a bit of advise there:)
Yeah, big issues with cold start piston wear on those Mazda rotary engines. I hear it's their most annoying problem. Damn rotary junk always damaging the pistons...
hey I have a 3000gt and was going to swap a 5.0 ford turbocharged in it but I have always been a fan of the rotary power what would be the big advantage besides engine bay room vs more displacement v8, and a higher reving rotary?
not realy got a great fabricator if he can fit a ls1 inside a civic this will be a breeze. also what are the power limits for the 13b vs the 20b which is the better engine Im wanting around the 500 to 600 hp range.
you really should read up on your stuff...I have the rx8 with the mazsport type 3 turbo..and I'm pushing right at 380 rwhp which is about 450 at the flywheel/motor...unless your making that car a track car there is no need...if I would of known really what 380rwhp was like I wouldn't or worried about it..think of it this way I can't even use my full power till 5th gear thats at 120. My motor is the 13b the 20 has what I have rebuilt and can do an easy 650 -700 rwhp so like 750 -800 at the motor
just to throw this out there... a 3000GT is based on a front wheel drive platform and its 3 liter power plant is already a tight fit....if you want rotary power, ditch the diamond and go get a 7!
Is that sarchasm I smell? hehe. I was trying to figure out where the "hole engine" is and what it does. I think he means "things like the cylinders," but I'm not sure.
hey aaron one question im doing the 6port turbo thing and was wondering what size piping i need for the intercooler setup is : 6port bridgeport custom intake like yours gt40 turbo and the 1600 cc injectors twin walbro 255 . im shooting for 400 and change in horsepower thanks
Any eyebrow port cut between the intake port and rotor housing. More flow, greater port overlap for more power at higher RPMs. The overlap also spools turbos far better then a stock/street port.
i was wondering, Ive seen many 12a and 13b at the track and many have a long cranking time, is this normal for them, because on my supra the long cranking time was a sign i had to replace my ignition system. Stupid coil packs
nah they all have long start times cause most people upgrade to a micro tech computer and that has an anti step so u cant dump to much race fuel in the engine and blow it up chocks the engine fo gas till its warmed up then it goes away
Agree with aaron, my 88 GXL had been very kind to me, besides a few grounding issues (20 year old car, go figure).Cant figure out why people that prefer traditional piston engines hate rotary's, going out of there way to look up rotary videos and bashing them with their unresearched claims. We dont hate you?.. come on
all the ones i own had over 120k,after that many mileage you have to replace the apex seals. Not that many poeple know about rotary engines.DONT get me wrong i love rx7's its the first sport car i own.i guess you can call me a rotor head.
My first 2nd gen had 258K on the odometer before I pulled the engine apart to bridgeport it. My GSL-SE has 164K on the meter and still runs great. Engine life depends on maintenance more then anything else.
hey good job guys, haters are just jelous, rotor all the way.

Arguing with Aaroncake is like arguing that the world is actually flat: You're going to look like an idiot in front of everyone.
shazmybot 2 years ago
You mean the world isn't flat?! I've been wrong all this time! ;-)
aaroncake 2 years ago
Really? You can kneel to idiotcake all you want. You are an idiot to make a statement like that as you know nothing about me :)
aji8 2 years ago
Unlike you, Aaroncake has the knowledge to back up what he says. Unless you can back up your "experience" like Mr. Cake can, then you're just another "Youtube-Tuner" that's seen enough LS1 RX7 videos to think he's an expert on the subject.
shazmybot 2 years ago
It's pretty obvious who is acting like an idiot here. It's the troll who seeks out rotary videos and makes negative comments. I see nothing in your YouTube profile that indicates you have any idea what you are talking about. All I see are comments from other users that you have been trolling their videos. 95% of the comments you have left for others are negative and hostile for no reason. Very successful troll.

s2bp, sounds like you're a rotary guru... LOL!
Modifyre 2 years ago
Sounds low on comp
s2bp 2 years ago
It's an untuned standalone. Hence it's a bit hard to start.

Rotard: Guy with all the excuses.
aji8 2 years ago
Pistonally challenged: One who doesn't understand the rotary, and thus hunts down rotary videos on YouTube and makes inane comments born of ignorance. Funny, I don't see rotary people running around yelling "piston engines suck!" yet I hear "rotary engines suck" all the time from piston people. Guess that shows who is more mature.
aaroncake 2 years ago
If you don't see that I suggest that you look further into the ones that say that a V8 transplant stole the sole of the Rx7 and anyone that does it is an idiot...Do some research before posting,
aji8 2 years ago
But those why say that V8 transplants ruin RX-7s and talk about things like soul are to be ignored, just like those who say rotary engines suck and break all the time. Two sides of the same douche-nozzle.
aaroncake 2 years ago
haha yeah this knob called aji8 has been posting crap about rotaries on other videos aswell. he must have a real exciting life
aido1987 2 years ago
Join the party. I've been giving him shit every time I see his comments on Rotors.
The fool doesn't knowwhat he's talking about.
You've probably seen my comments back at him. Cant believe that he's over 30 (apparently) yet still mouths off like a school kid with no consequences.

oh whoa. Very expensive kit on that FC and pretty expensive wrench work. Awesome. Pretty big project right there. Keep up the good work.

How much would it cost to half bridge a stock 13b i mean stock internals??
darol79 3 years ago
It's not like you can get or need to install aftermarket "internals" in a 13B. About the only option is a two piece eccentric. So you have really no choice but to use "stock internals". The porting will cost about $300 on top of the typical rebuild and then you need the EMS, fuel system and turbo stuff to make the engine worth running.
aaroncake 3 years ago
haha if only there were this many mechanics and engineers in real life.. is there anyone actually comenting on the sick batty?
djw117 3 years ago
hahaha all this talk of rotarys and there pistons, i know... maybe if you put some new pistons in my 20b-pp it will go faster, on second thought i think my rotors do a better job=p
speedyrabit 3 years ago 2
Yeah well that is your opinion...wait until you have to rebuild your engines 5 times/
aji8 2 years ago
and what does bridge port do vs a non bridge engine?
mma850 3 years ago
It's a pretty big deal as far as porting goes. A bridgeport adds an extra eyebrow port above (in the sense that it opens sooner) the main intake port. It totally changes the character of the engine. Google "rotary engine illustrated" and read up on porting. This is pretty basic stuff that you should know if you are considering swapping another vehicle to rotary.

never rev a car when the engines cold. the oil hasent got round the hole engine and things like the pistons will get hot quickly and wear out. just a bit of advise there:)
cooolcars 3 years ago
Yeah, big issues with cold start piston wear on those Mazda rotary engines. I hear it's their most annoying problem. Damn rotary junk always damaging the pistons...
aaroncake 3 years ago
hey I have a 3000gt and was going to swap a 5.0 ford turbocharged in it but I have always been a fan of the rotary power what would be the big advantage besides engine bay room vs more displacement v8, and a higher reving rotary?
ript2006 3 years ago
Those are the advantages. Power per weight, size and displacement. Seems to me like it would be a major effort to swap a rotary into a 3000GT.
aaroncake 3 years ago
not realy got a great fabricator if he can fit a ls1 inside a civic this will be a breeze. also what are the power limits for the 13b vs the 20b which is the better engine Im wanting around the 500 to 600 hp range.
mma850 3 years ago
you really should read up on your stuff...I have the rx8 with the mazsport type 3 turbo..and I'm pushing right at 380 rwhp which is about 450 at the flywheel/motor...unless your making that car a track car there is no need...if I would of known really what 380rwhp was like I wouldn't or worried about it..think of it this way I can't even use my full power till 5th gear thats at 120. My motor is the 13b the 20 has what I have rebuilt and can do an easy 650 -700 rwhp so like 750 -800 at the motor
outinnowhere3193 3 years ago
just to throw this out there... a 3000GT is based on a front wheel drive platform and its 3 liter power plant is already a tight fit....if you want rotary power, ditch the diamond and go get a 7!
chukruh 3 years ago
Is that sarchasm I smell? hehe. I was trying to figure out where the "hole engine" is and what it does. I think he means "things like the cylinders," but I'm not sure.
tonedeftony 3 years ago
I'm just trying to figure out what "sarchasm" is. :-)

nice headlights...where'd you get them?

As replied in previous comments, the car is not mine and the headlights are the old CP Racing kit.
aaroncake 4 years ago
whats a bridgeport?
hachiroku781 4 years ago
Any eyebrow port cut between the intake port and rotor housing. More flow, greater port overlap for more power at higher RPMs. The overlap also spools turbos far better then a stock/street port.
aaroncake 4 years ago
i was wondering, Ive seen many 12a and 13b at the track and many have a long cranking time, is this normal for them, because on my supra the long cranking time was a sign i had to replace my ignition system. Stupid coil packs
hachiroku781 4 years ago
Probably in poor tune. Or they were ported radically, which can make them a bit hard to start.
aaroncake 4 years ago
nah they all have long start times cause most people upgrade to a micro tech computer and that has an anti step so u cant dump to much race fuel in the engine and blow it up chocks the engine fo gas till its warmed up then it goes away
akademiks604bc 3 years ago
oh wow thats good. i didnt know that
hachiroku781 3 years ago
Huh?
aaroncake 3 years ago
Agree with aaron, my 88 GXL had been very kind to me, besides a few grounding issues (20 year old car, go figure).Cant figure out why people that prefer traditional piston engines hate rotary's, going out of there way to look up rotary videos and bashing them with their unresearched claims. We dont hate you?.. come on
DavidHolmesIII 4 years ago
gotto love rx7 there fast but when you need a reliable car there worthless!!
rompelo28 4 years ago
All mine have been perfectly reliable.
aaroncake 4 years ago
all the ones i own had over 120k,after that many mileage you have to replace the apex seals. Not that many poeple know about rotary engines.DONT get me wrong i love rx7's its the first sport car i own.i guess you can call me a rotor head.
rompelo28 4 years ago
My first 2nd gen had 258K on the odometer before I pulled the engine apart to bridgeport it. My GSL-SE has 164K on the meter and still runs great. Engine life depends on maintenance more then anything else.

aaron, i was wondering if you might know of a place that has a replacement kit for the 85 gsl se headlights? to convert from popup to non?

Not off hand, sorry. I think the only option was the CP Racing kit but they're no longer around.
