  • Cool animation.

  • Thank you.

  • This video is very useful for web master.

  • Thank you for sharing.

  • Yes...and as usual, Linux (uBuntu in my case), sucks hind tit...C'mon people...we're not second rate here!

  • Where can I get CSS3 Animation Editor???

  • what program did Kevin Lynch use to do the Ducati ad? illustrator?

  • So its just googles version of the Mac App Store that will be released Dec. 13th

Apple is always ahead of the game!!!

  • Wait.... so now we have to pay for web apps? As if people are gonna go for that, sure they might be cheap, but at the end of the day why should people have to pay for web apps.

So we going to have "Lite" and "Trial" web apps. And Pro and Premium apps if we pay for them? You have destroyed the web, the web should be free.

  • @illage2 YEAAHHH!! Why should people who want to make a living from making web apps want people to pay for their hard work?

COME ON!! GEEZ you big-bully developers, ruining our lives with apps with useful or just fun apps that are way better than their half-assed, free shovelware contenders!

  • @silversamurai621 What I mean is that we get to use the normal website free of charge, why should developers charge people for an app version of the website.

  • @illage2 You already have to pay for web apps, like Flickr for example.

  • @franksands I can use flickr without paying for it? Its not asked me to pay for anything.

  • @illage2 You can use Flickr for free with limited number of photos and sets. You can pay for unlimited storage. There are a lot of other sites that have subscriptions or fees to use the services they provide.

  • I hate not free apps!

  • it's can be the end of piracy

  • If Web Apps use HTML5, does that mean when you clear your cookies, you will loose your data such as game saves?

  • @Saugan1 nope. search google for "html5 client side storage" to read further on

  • Probably not. What separates Web apps from traditional apps is the fact they're on the "web". There's a server that stores your data. Think "gmail": clearing your cookies won't delete your emails. Having a web app that doesn't store your data on the server-side pretty much beats the advantages of being a "web" app.

  • i hate premium (not free) apps

  • nice

  • web app store means chrome os : )

  • I think they're stretching their resources way too thin on this one. Google Chrome has a lot of issue on its plate right now that has gone unnoticed.

  • @KDALove What sort of issues are you talking about?

  • @pseudocube For one, the way extensions work on Chrome really makes it difficult to really make applications as you would see in Firefox ( I believe Chrome essentially uses a collection of HTML pages and JavaScript to make the extensions). Also, there is still the lingering concerns about privacy.

  • @KDALove I have developed extensions for both Firefox and Chrome, and it is definitely much easier to develop them for Chrome. Granted, Firefox has more flexibility in what you can do with the extensions, but Chrome is more flexible in how you do it, and it is generally easier to do so, for most things.

  • will we be able to buy and use these web apps with just the chrome browser? as much as i love to keep as much as i can inside a webpage there are some things i cant give up for a whole chrome OS (like gaming)

  • Anyone know when Chrome OS will be released? I heard it was supposed to be Nov 11 back in the summer, but thats clearly not true anymore.

  • @Indiewontdie Chome OS 7 already released. I use it in my Parallels VM on my Mac. Different but fast and efficient.

  • @michaeljohnstone2010 Where did you get it from? I've been trying like crazy to find it.

  • @Indiewontdie Like I stated before. There is an option to download it with Parallels Software as an OS. Hope that helps.

  • AppStore...

  • Google show how amazing the firm are. I am already like baby , i cant wait to se wat they will come with, and when :)

  • All of this has got NOTHING to do with HTML5. HTML5 and CSS3 are two completely different things.

  • @rudiedirkx Yes, but you can't have CSS without HTML. CSS 3 is being developed alongside HTML 5, so yes they do have something to do with each other.

  • who else tried to go to chromewebstore.appspot.com?

  • happy to see that I'll be able to keep on developing in unity,

still would like a linux port of their editor though. :/

  • Sheep welcoming the end of their own privacy and independence.

    OMG SO KEWL

  • how is this awesome? we'll be paying money for stuff we get for free...

  • @zcast technically no, webapps just open websites in a way, so for example - tweetdeck is a free software, and there webapp will be free, but certain stuff like a 3D game, which is "NOT" free anywhere, will not be free here either...

if you get what it means..

    what was free stays free

what was not free, will need cost

  • can not wait. : ) i especially love the fact that LEGO STAR WARS IS MAKING IT TO CHROME, BABY! 8^D

  • Eagerly awaiting the user who manages to get Chrome OS onto the internet.............

  • @JB346Aussie it will be free anyways..

  • Chrome OS is going to be AWESOME with native Unity 3D support.

  • This is y i use Chrome for all the cool features but firefox for hardcore browsing

  • that's not a game. that's a casual game.

  • This just goes to show once again how Google is amazing! I want all of this to be released today! Lol

  • Once I saw this video, I suddenly had the urge to watch Bollywood Movies.

  • is it going to be only on the chrome os or also in the google chrome browser?

  • this is going to so awesome!!!!!!!

  • is this an answer to Apple's App Store and iPad?

  • That bike thing is nothing special with jQuery :) Old stuff. WebM is great though. On a side note, Thumbs up for Asians :D Also I do hope Chrome fixed the 'td' background issue. Seems a lot like Apple Store now.

  • @FrozoneNetworks Yeah, even before jQuery it was possible with Flash, but isn't awesome that you can build stuff like that with a single stylesheet file? Flash is not standard and being a plugin is not available everywhere (is built-in in Chrome but it's not available on the ipad, for example). Javascript is cool but is interpreted, there can be some slowdown, and it's full of hacks and stuff like that, CSS 3 is standard and simple.

  • @zikyky I do agree with you there, but I for one, was never a big fan of Flash. In terms of 'hacks', the only thing I can think of is XSS Injection which is easily prevented if one is capable of doing so. Slow down isn't an issue either if one is a proficient JS coder - JS is cached anyways if properly configured on the server. I am not a big fan of the idea of having CSS deal with animations, CSS is after all, Cascading 'STYLE SHEETS' not 'ANIMATION SHEETS'.

  • Damn where can i get this CSS3 Animation Editor??? :/

  • first they took 1st place in searching engine

after that they took 1st place in web browsers

    now they r taking gaming

    next - the world!

  • @elronxxx1 Ill correct you, theyre 3rdplace in web browsers however not for long :D

  • i have used the google chrome os beta seems really good but its wayy too basic and the OS is only functional if you have internet al the time which many people dont and say if you work on documents offline you cant

  • @lightningwar123 I think it'll be better when they fully release it and itll be cool on tablets :D

  • @lightningwar123 the chrome OS is a long term project, it needs time for adaption and improvements. But it's the future.

  • "Including Flash..."

  • This guy Sundar Pichai, has a magnetic charisma. His technical talks are very clear and comprehensive

  • yes, he is an indian guy..... india rocks!!!

  • Looks like Android Market for Chrome. However, I am definitely going to anticipate this. I wonder if you can turn bookmarks into web apps? (and also sync them to multiple computers, too)

  • The Chrome web store just try to give a natural reason for Google to monopoly the web application market.

But the fact is that all apps in appspot need to pay Google for computing time and data quotation.

If chrome wants to become an open platform, chrome should support P2P communications so as to allow the users to avoid the Google quotation when they don't want.

  • @errisy if thats the deal, they should rename it to "Chromium" or "Chrome" instead of "Google Chrome" but that aint happening

  • chrome es lo maximo

  • @8:39

  • 0:01 NERD ALERT!

  • YESSSSS THINKPADDDD!!! I got one!

  • @SeriouslyWeird - the fact that there are lots of other portals is part of the problem. You first have to search for a portal before you can search for an app!

And then there may be better reviews on one portal than another, and you don't have an overall idea of popularity or number of downloads. On top of that you have to create an account with each different portal.

Chrome is bringing these to one place directly from the new tab screen in your browser, with a single account.

  • This is awesome. I hope Mozilla and Opera Soft take a stab at the OS market too. Google has really caught onto a trend here.

  • Comment removed

  • he talks about how is it impossible to look for reviews and collection of software and how is chrome store great, Yet there are like millions of other portals which can do it...

  • can anyone tell what's the url of the chrome web store homepage @ 7:15, its just damn blurry

  • @AAatYT chromewebstore.appspot.com/

  • @Hrbngr Hey yeah that the website but after I login successfully, I get this message instead of the Chrome Web Store: Error: Not Found. The requested URL / was not found on this server :( I'm damn excited to get those apps; any other way to get'em?

  • Where is that CSS3 animation editor. Is there any trial version already ?

I haven't found anything on Adobe

  • web games seem to be a bit laggy compared to games coded in C++ or even assembler and run natively. On low powered computers this is unfortunate.

  • The HTML5 beta is working great

  • no more flash errors! \o/

  • why can't i play HTML5 in firefox!?!!?!

  • @moshemi maybe, but I think Chrome will have its own engine to do with this.

  • @moshemi On Firefox and Opera, only videos with WebM transcodes will play in HTML5

  • @moshemi you can! Not only Firefox, but also Safari, Opera and others. Only the Chrome Web Store in this video is Chrome only, all the applications demoed will run on other modern browsers as well.

  • @dodow1234 flash runs fine on windows because Adobe PUSHED for windows development and not for linux/osx development, so it is not osx or linux fault. More, it sounds funny to me that you mark windows as an OS that can perform well, making it obvious that in your idea linux and osx don't. I'm quite sure you know less than nothing about this OSs, but you can always try use them i guess

  • Awesome!

Hmm.. wonder if the flash games have to be AS3, lol.

  • So I can buy out of Chrome and have the app transmit to my Android phone? You got it right - thanks. BTW - I penned a column for RCR back in October called "When Nordstrom's Runs the iTunes App Store" and you guys are getting a lot closer. just type in Nordstrom at rcr wireless.

Today we are blessed with great JQuery CSS3 and HTML5 so in web i personaly dont want to use FLASH.. and yeh ADOBE is great & Steve Jobs is preparing the Future..

    ChEeRz \m/

  • yeh Flash Rock but as a web developer i love and support HTML5 coz of its great support for VIDEO and AUDIO without using anykind of third party plugin.. I belive flash is for creating some kind of application which need to tranfer DISK to DISK i mean while in offline But in Web we must need native support for Video or Audio instead of forcing users to install plugins. [Continue...]

  • flash rocks, flash not dying, flash is the future.

  • @dodow1234 Flash is not the future. Have you ever tried using it on Linux or Mac? It grinds my CPU into the dirt. Search for "HTML5 canvas experiment" on Google or "Quake2 GWT port"

  • @hectixx well if windows can run flash smoothly and mac or whatever os can't, then who's fault is it???

  • @hectixx then you gonna put all the blame to flash because windows can run it just fine but it put mac down to its knees. Why you should love an os that can't perform normally, just ditch it and move back to windows, problem solve

  • @hectixx bah in my eyes html5 created simply to protect apple bussines

  • @dodow1234 Ummm, clarify?

If you want to be a decent web developer you should at least explore these alternatives, what you like and what you are comfortable with are not always the best solution.

Just do some research, the big players in HTML5 are W3C who write the spec, Google who push for better support as their whole business is web based and Microsoft who make it unusable by making a shitty browser. Apple are passive and try to keep up by using Webkit as their rendering engine.

  • "Photograph the second problem is" (4:44) XDD

  • What software is used during first 3 minutes of demo?

  • @macewan he says that the software is a prototype

  • AWESOME!

  • @ol1dammara .. For Google this is how they're going to have 'Apps' on the ChromeOS. That's the real breakthrough.

  • There are waaaay too many of these videos from google I/O in the science and tech category.

  • flash... fail xD

  • any windows mac linux game can be played?

  • Absolutely amazing. Web evolution right before our eyes and all staying open source, meaning more and faster evolution.

I'm loving all the demos on here.

    Kudos Google!

    Off to watch Part 6.

  • flash and adobe has matured and moved to the desktop, plus support for andriod...Adobe Rocks and forever will...........

  • Android will pwn Iphone OS.

  • I love how all of these videos are taking a jab at Steve Jobs. LOL, take that Apple. If anybody owns Apple stock, now is the time to sell!

  • i'm tired of app stores.

Every corporation wants to have it's own store to sell and control developer's monetization. What we get at the end is one single static, controlled and boring place to discover a simple aplication...

Yeah, of course it's hard to find a good app on the web, but, i think this is the very nature of the web itself. Several specialized blogs exists only for this reason. I spend several years to pick my favorite aplications and I don't regret that.

    sourceforge FTW!

  • @liperuf the very nature of the web has been changing for years, there is no reason to think that will stop now.

I personally welcome our new google overlords.

  • @supertrinko you're right. I agree with you.

  • @supertrinko It's too true, especially if you've ever seen GiTS they talk about how as technology advances eventually we'll have A.I. moving towards individuality as humanity moves away from individuality via the web. The web has become a place where opinions fly and the rumor mill thrives, but this doesn't necessarily mean that each opinion is purely objective in nature and could actually be influenced by web culture therefore effectively making human beings something of a collective conscience

  • Can't wait for OS

  • pt. 5 is kicking Apple's Store ass

  • I said it would all come together, but the tone of comments as recently as the opensourcing of Chromium OS in november was a mixture of negativity, intense distrust and fierce shoulder-shrugging about the thin OS.

Google said the same at I/O '09 as they were today: the web is the dominant programming model of our time, and the right one. It's entirely open (!), standardized cross-OS, hybrid on/offline and puts apps and docs at same level, allowing apps to run before/without offline installation.

  • To all the people out there that think adobe is all about flash, take that!!

I dont think flash is diying, flash video might be replaced with webm project for sure... but you still have a bunch of other things to do with flash.

At any rate, Im loving all of this

  • The CSS3 animation tool demo feels like I'm seeing the new version of Flash :) Plenty to get excited about throughout this keynote.

  • pt 4 and pt 5 were the best videos

  • Adobe should just kill flash, and make a platform (just like the animation edition) to build stuff in the new webm, in that way they may stay where they are, or they will be even better if apple also adopts the format...

  • @Mackaber i like the idea in that flash is dying, but at the same time its such an easy and intuitive development tool, which is so widely used, that it would be best is if adobe could transform it so on that the developer uses the same tools, but have it compile to html 5, instead of a .swf that you put onto a site, flash's biggest problem is its non intergration with the web, ive grown up with flash like so many other developers, its the easiest way to get into programming and animation

  • @Chilloutman33 Chrome used to not make sense? Hmmn.
