after limping with aces and letting the 84o see a flop. I see why he limped having had aces prior and didn't get any action at all, but I liked how he immediately owned up to the bad play and said it out loud.
ivey made a small mistake for not raising with his pocket ace's. The first time he had pocket ace's he raised pre-flop but everyone folded so he wanted to just limp in in order to trap the other players..
Bizarre move considering he had been min raising any hand he had been playing prior. Also, even though he prob would have killed any action by pre flop raising, he would still be in the tourney... better to win a small pot than lose a big!
also, ivey was essentially short stacked at the time that is why he needed to make such a move. someone who raises from early position in poker is usually regarded with respect and he would not likely extract the most value from his aces if he did it that way. ivey needed a double up and this was his best way of doing so. just did not happen. that's poker!
it is a known play in poker to limp with a monster hand in early position trying to catch someone who will raise after you. perhaps the table has been pretty aggressive that is why ivey made that play. if he had raised that last hand, he probably would not get any callers looking at the quality of the other players' hands just like the previous aces. one has to take suck risks in poker. also, it is the unpredictable nature of ivey which won him millions. just plain unlucky at that time.
why unlucky ??? that was bad play... the slowplayin was ok but, the call of the all in was bad play... the guy was in the big blind he could had everything 8-4, Q-4, Q-8....
Ivey knew exactly what he was trying to do by just calling in early position before the flop, it just didn't work out this time. How can you possibly tell someone who has won 5 WSOP bracelets how to play poker!!!???
exactly wat doyle wrote.he won small pots the first two times with aces then lost a big one

A 3 x BB raise might have attracted some action. I will never understand why anyone limps with AA. It's just dumb.

Last time he raised them everybody folded...
and ivey wasnt hitting flops so he was hoping that somebody will raise him.
There was good chance that teatum just had a strong queen and then the slowplay would be the greatest move
