  • SOMEONE CAN POST THIS IN HIGHER QUALITY PLEASE!!!!!

  • Apart from the one missed chord @ 5:25, astonishing. With so many masters of the instrument, it can be difficult to pick out the most impressive one(s). However; Hamelin is most certainly a performer who is a notch above, along with Cziffra and Berezovsky. I would mention others, but I'm pretty sure everyone can agree on the two I mentioned. =D

  • dude that's freakin impossible WTF.... SERIOUSLY HAMELIN?!

  • Whoa! I love the study on the Winter Wind!

  • Still waiting for the day when Chopin's etudes are boring to me to the point that I want to play Godowsky...

  • 5.05, he got angry, xD, zoke..

  • fuck..

    so easy...

    :O

  • I love the energy and drive of the winter wind.

  • I was lucky enough to see him in concert a year ago, when he closed with a few of the Godowsky variations, including this one. I had a good seat for seeing his hands, and you literally cannot see his fingers at all when he flies through that ending. The man is a god on this instrument. He opened the set with Rach 3, but it wasn't as impressive as the Godowsky

  • Brutal.

  • Very impressive !!

(he just missed the E major chord in the LH but I think it's the only mistake :)))

  • (at 5'21)

  • Proves one thing: he's human.

  • No, he's really not. He is bashing what he feels Godowsky did to Chopin. I think some of the Godowsky studies are just bad, but the Chopin they come from is not.

  • Personally, I think he and Berezovsky are the 2 most "natural" talents. They learn, digest and perform some of the most difficult music and make it look easy. Other very fine pianists can't really do that. Just my opinion/observation

  • Agreed. Berezovsky and Hamelin are for pianism today what Rachmaninov and Hofmann were at the turn of the century.

When asked who the greatest pianist(s) was (were) Rachmaninov replied "There's Hofmann, then there's me".

Who are the greatest pianist today?

There's Hamelin, then there is Berezovsky. Everyone else simply fills the gap when any of the two aforementioned are not performing.

  • @Frozentoes1 kissin? ashkenazy? nerd

  • @davidcarterdavidcart

Yes, Kissin and Ashdenazy are nerds. You are quite perceptive. Good for you.

  • He isn't bashing Chopin.

  • fuckin crazy

  • Wow, incroyable !!

Il est vraiment bon, j'aime particulièrement cette version de l'étude en A mineur de Chopin, elle est vraiment plus cool.

  • AHHHGGG!!!!!!! he plays that hard a minor etude with the left hand !!!!! OMFG

  • Wow. That was amazing.

Even though it was much more technically demanding then Chopin's Winter Wind, I like the Chopin version better. Idk. Just sound wise it's better for me.

  • He is known as the tecnicly best pianist in the world, and his sound shows it.

  • In a minor etude playing tema with right hand is very cleverly!!

  • ...damn

  • hahaha...crazy...

now I have to re-recognize him as the best virtuoso pianist...

  • hahaha i didnt expect the swaping on hands in the A minor etude....brilliant

  • Staggering.

  • good....more!!!!...

    so exciting....: )
