@silfocus84 ion was released in 03 the redline in 04 the cobalt was 05 along with the ss, saturn had dibs on this setup before chevy. Both gm but saturn deserves the credit.
@silfocus84 you are correct, different drivetrain, and along with the solstice, they were the first to use the LNF engines. So, yeah saturn did have a turbo redline, just not an ion.

Yes, you are correct. The HHR SS, Cobalt SS, Saturn Sky Redline, and Pontiac Solstice GXp all use the same motor. It's call the LNF and is a 2.0 turbo 4 cyl. w/ VVT on the intake and exhaust cams. The LNF also has direct injection which reduced turbo lag and engine temp while increasing MPG.

Double clutch is where there are 2 clutches..., eg. if the car is in 2nd gear the other clutch builds up revvs for the next gear so when you change gears the clutch is ready so its much smoother, you can tell that double clutch is much softer when shifting automatic or manual.
by any chance you burn this clutch some how its going to be very expensive to replace...
A street definition of a double clutch would be when you are say doing a roll and instead of just punching it when its time too you punch both the gas and clutch simultaneously then pop out the clutch to achieve more rpm thus more power, Most cars will spin but it still can give you a jump on someone who is next to you its like re launching the car but your rolling at whatever speed...

Ummm did you forget about Mazda Speed 3? It can hit 13's stock, while the cobalt ss will not make it out of the 14's.... oh and the wheel studs are way too week. Saw a car lose a wheel at the track... seems to be a problem.
MotorTrend did 13.9 @ 102mph in the Cobalt SS. No editor has ever gotten a SPEED3 below 14. Yeah they can hit 13.9 if driven correctly, but go to DragTimes and you'll see the Cobalt SS turbo, stock, as low as 13.6 @ 104mph.

The engine and the chassis are Opel based. It´s one of the best chassis existing in it´s price class just behind the VW Golf, Honda Civic and Ford Focus (EU Version).

Well, the engine, drive train, and suspension should all be well bulletproof. People are getting 600hp on stock internals, which would make a SRT4 or MS3 go POOOF.
But... the little things like windows, body panel gaps, etc... Chevy still has a long way to go on these issues.

My 2001 Z24 Cavalier got flooded out after 150,000 miles (engine still ran! that one was SUPPER durible!) but it's time for some new wheels. So, I test drove an SS with sunroof... *drool* I want!! It was SOOO fun to drive!! Too many car makers out there forgot, driving should be fun. Though the 2010 Camero looked nice sitting in that show room too...
If this car were as reliable as the old Civics ( pre 2000) then I would buy one in a heartbeat. Dont really care much about the "cheap" interior as my 02' civic's interior is pretty bad also. Maybe after a few years if they prove to be reliable I will buy a used one...
There is no compact car that is more affordable to own new than a honda civic. Ya no shit some of the trim lvls are higher than most in the same range. But the durability, fuel consumption, and maintenance make it one of the most affordable vehicles to own. Even after that, the resale value is the highest kept per mile. Giving you more back than what any other car will. Not trying to sound like a poster boy but its damn true.

Since I heard the Si mentioned I am wanting to know which should I get?? Rules: I plan to have this car for a long time, so I dont need a car that will breakdown or have TONS of problems. Money: There not one between the Si and SS. Mods: I dont plan to do anything major to the car maybe an intake (air) buts thats it. I mainly just like a lil zip in my everyday car.

Yes, you are correct. The HHR SS, Cobalt SS, Saturn Sky Redline, and Pontiac Solstice GXp all use the same motor. It's call the LNF and is a 2.0 turbo 4 cyl. w/ VVT on the intake and exhaust cams. The LNF also has direct injection which reduced turbo lag and engine temp while increasing MPG.

im only 14 lol but u can trust me, Double clutch is usually used in most Porsches and some other cars...
Double clutch is where there are 2 clutches..., eg. if the car is in 2nd gear the other clutch builds up revvs for the next gear so when you change gears the clutch is ready so its much smoother, you can tell that double clutch is much softer when shifting automatic or manual.
by any chance you burn this clutch some how its going to be very expensive to replace...

The Cobalt SS ran the Nurburgring in 8:22, which is as fast as the BMW E46 M3, and faster than
MazdaSpeed3, Nissan 350Z, BMW 335i, Audi S5, WRX STI, . . . etc
You better believe GM is on Par, if not ahead of it's competition. And the Cobalts is on a completely different chasis and platform than the dated Cavalier/Sunfire, so you're wrong, plain and simple.

MotorTrend did 13.9 @ 102mph in the Cobalt SS. No editor has ever gotten a SPEED3 below 14. Yeah they can hit 13.9 if driven correctly, but go to DragTimes and you'll see the Cobalt SS turbo, stock, as low as 13.6 @ 104mph.

Well, the engine, drive train, and suspension should all be well bulletproof. People are getting 600hp on stock internals, which would make a SRT4 or MS3 go POOOF.
But... the little things like windows, body panel gaps, etc... Chevy still has a long way to go on these issues.

There is no compact car that is more affordable to own new than a honda civic. Ya no shit some of the trim lvls are higher than most in the same range. But the durability, fuel consumption, and maintenance make it one of the most affordable vehicles to own. Even after that, the resale value is the highest kept per mile. Giving you more back than what any other car will. Not trying to sound like a poster boy but its damn true.

if you are referring to trucks and SUVs then yes. But the cobalt? FUCK NO!. they did a comparison rating of 7 cars in a top listing. And the cobalt was last. Poor product with poor durability. Cheap interior and probably wont even last above 100k miles. The civic easily ranked #1 above the mazda 3 and corrola in third. Honda has and always will be the best in the small car range. They know how to make a product that will last. GM however. Refer to what i said in the beginning.

The Si Is a very powerful car if put in the right hands of a driver. Just because it has a couple less horse power does not mean that it is not powerful. The high reving engine makes up for it. for 20g you get a high reving engine, daring design, decent handling 30+mpg cheap to fix/own decent speed.. fun to drive lightweight chassis if you want more power they have and always will have aftermarket support " honda vtec models are 20k ferrari they use the same philosophy.. Just cuz its down on power doesnt mean its not a respectable sport compact.. its one of the most balanced cheap cars you can get and if i was honda i would charge nearly 30g for these qualities

but with the design of the si and many hondas they look contemporary for years to come look at civics, integras, tl's, rsx ten times comment was ignorant but he has a point the shell on the cobalt is dated thats the only thing i fault on it... the si is starck looking but it will look contemporary for a long time
