  • bang for your buck car right there ... i drove the S/C and T/C Cobalt SS ..both are pretty impressive for what they are ... T/C having more power of course. May not be the most flashy car out there, but it can hold its own for the price ... Since they dont make Cobalts in general anymore, both S/C and T/C Cobalt SSs are found even cheaper ... I may get one soon.

  • @benchod94 I drive an 06 Cobalt LS. The interior isnt that bad. Some people dont need to be driving in their living room. That takes away the fun. And its better than anything in its class. Its got the lowest price. It gets great gas mileage, it looks better than a junk civic or corolla, and its faster. So its not junk, your just a stupid retard that doesnt know shit about cars.

  • @jamestaggreen2 You don't seem to understand what quick acceleration means or the basics of physics at all. Accelerating from 0 to 60 MPH in anything under 7 seconds is quick by any standard. Once you break into 5 seconds or faster, it's more than quick, it's EXTREMELY quick. More than enough to get out of it's own way and plenty to push anyone into their seats with a grin. Show some respect and maybe do some research. And yes, I do own a 2009 Cobalt SS. But I do have respect for OTHER cars.

Since I heard the Si mentioned I am wanting to know which should I get?? Rules: I plan to have this car for a long time, so I dont need a car that will breakdown or have TONS of problems. Money: There not one between the Si and SS. Mods: I dont plan to do anything major to the car maybe an intake (air) buts thats it. I mainly just like a lil zip in my everyday car.

    Only a few cars managed to pull off FWD + Power and most of them have crazy suspension and or differentials (Focus RS, I'm looking at you).

  • Yes, you are correct. The HHR SS, Cobalt SS, Saturn Sky Redline, and Pontiac Solstice GXp all use the same motor. It's call the LNF and is a 2.0 turbo 4 cyl. w/ VVT on the intake and exhaust cams. The LNF also has direct injection which reduced turbo lag and engine temp while increasing MPG.

  • nice. people can say what they want...any car may have a drawback (and some advantages) compared to it's competitors...but you gotta hand it to chevy for gettin in the cheap pocket rocket game, and doing it pretty darn well. all politics aside, in my opinion, they're building good cars. it's popular to hate on american cars, but hey...look at this car, the newer vettes, the newer gm trucks, and the caddy cts-v. a lot to like. we've come a long way in the past 10 years. give kudos where it's due

Im a Ford Technician, even tho i dont like fords, i have to say, these 2010 models from GM and Ford are top of the line and even better than some of the Euro and Jap cars in my opinion. For example, this cobalt SS may not have the interior design of its competitors, but it is faster than all of them with the exception of the MS3. And dont let me get started on the CTS-V lol

    Double clutch is where there are 2 clutches..., eg. if the car is in 2nd gear the other clutch builds up revvs for the next gear so when you change gears the clutch is ready so its much smoother, you can tell that double clutch is much softer when shifting automatic or manual.

    by any chance you burn this clutch some how its going to be very expensive to replace...

  • Well, the engine, drive train, and suspension should all be well bulletproof. People are getting 600hp on stock internals, which would make a SRT4 or MS3 go POOOF.

    But... the little things like windows, body panel gaps, etc... Chevy still has a long way to go on these issues.

So, I test drove an SS with sunroof... *drool* I want!! It was SOOO fun to drive!! Too many car makers out there forgot, driving should be fun. Though the 2010 Camero looked nice sitting in that show room too...

  • There is no compact car that is more affordable to own new than a honda civic. Ya no shit some of the trim lvls are higher than most in the same range. But the durability, fuel consumption, and maintenance make it one of the most affordable vehicles to own. Even after that, the resale value is the highest kept per mile. Giving you more back than what any other car will. Not trying to sound like a poster boy but its damn true.

Cheap interior and probably wont even last above 100k miles. The civic easily ranked #1 above the mazda 3 and corrola in third. Honda has and always will be the best in the small car range. They know how to make a product that will last. GM however. Refer to what i said in the beginning.

Well any sport compact enthusiast will tell u that the Si is at the back of the pack when it comes to stock performance.

The Si Is a very powerful car if put in the right hands of a driver. Just because it has a couple less horse power does not mean that it is not powerful. The high reving engine makes up for it. This guy easily did 130mph stock and could expand further.

  • for 20g you get a high reving engine, daring design, decent handling 30+mpg cheap to fix/own decent speed.. fun to drive lightweight chassis if you want more power they have and always will have aftermarket support " honda vtec models are 20k ferrari they use the same philosophy.. Just cuz its down on power doesnt mean its not a respectable sport compact.. its one of the most balanced cheap cars you can get and if i was honda i would charge nearly 30g for these qualities

  • but with the design of the si and many hondas they look contemporary for years to come look at civics, integras, tl's, rsx ten times comment was ignorant but he has a point the shell on the cobalt is dated thats the only thing i fault on it... the si is starck looking but it will look contemporary for a long time
