I will add a little twist to this. Lata ji is successful in Bollywood because she chose to serve that industry, and got the opportunity, she is a great singer but dont forget there are many very very good classical musicians out there who can sing very very well but choose to stay with traditional India in ICM. Bollywood can be seen as not doing justice to our ICM. If you looking for God in musicians then look to likes of Girja Devi and Pandit Jasraj.

I will add a little twist to this. Lata ji is successful in Bollywood because she chose to serve that industry, and got the opportunity, she is a great singer but dont forget there are many very very good classical musicians out there who can sing very very well but choose to stay with traditional India in ICM. Bollywood can be seen as not doing justice to our ICM. If you looking for God in musicians then look to likes of Girja Devi and Pandit Jasraj.

well i rate lata and noor jehan at same height,although noor jehan had edge over lata,as she is class above whils singing GHAZALAS and PUNJABI songs,i never heard Lata singing such classic punjabi aur ghazals,no doubt both are classic and legends,no comarison
