I kinda agree that rappers have potential to be great lyriacists, but I do think most take the easy route and talk about how shitty they think they've got it, people like that because they also think they've got it shitty. Rap is a young people's music, I for one hope it dies with an aging population, rock has alot more variation and depth to its sound, from scremo to ballads, to whatever else you want to listen to. Pop is just all fuckin girls, or clubbin, but thats obviously whats popular now.

So if ATR became instantly popular and played on pop radio, they would become pop music. Almost all forms of modern music are or were pop music at one point, including metal [Twisted Sister, Metallica, KISS (but that's more hard rock)].

@Ragedhard I concede the point that I do not listen to the current pop/rap music, however, it is impossible not to hear it if you go out to eat, shop, etc. or even just watching t.v. and commercials. The point I was making was about the mainsteam artists, so I believe it is still valid. I do not assume to know every artist's every song, but what I hear that is popular, through classmates or whatever, follows the same lousy pattern. If I am wrong then that means that most new music isn't shit.
