In my opinion Toumas did love Tarja. I believe that a lot of the songs he wrote were about her. When he said in the letter and in the song after her departure from the band. "Did you ever read what I wrote you?" I think he was referring to the many songs he wrote about love and pain. Tarja was to blind to see it I think. I may be wrong. He may not have loved her. He could have written that about someone else. It is most logical that he was writing about her though.
