From the YouTube audio, I ran a spectrogram on one of the high speed passes (around time 1:30) and then performed a spreadsheet calulation on the speed derived from the doppler effect. It was doing 100.7mph! Very cool, and fast!
@jesknow Yes, I'm an experienced 3D/sailplane/sport RC plane flyer. I don't know why you say it's a waste of time. It only takes a couple of minutes to run the calculation and I think it's fun to know how fast some of these RC planes are capable of going. Some of the speeds can be very surprising and impressive!
@jesknow In your speed video of your "Hobbico Superstar trainer 80+ mph" I calculated in the speed pass coming out of the dive, it was doing 80.1 mph. In the subsequent flat pass, it was doing 58.2 mph. Not too bad for a trainer!
if u think that a failed gaske wont hurt themotor you r badly mistaken it will eak out fuel or air resulting in a lose of power within minutes i had it happen to me and the motor was in fact a 2 stroke and i had to get another one
@MrDrairplane yasus! I did so much to this engine please dont tell me how to run stuff! I love this plane/engine. If you lag in races and want to go fast than call me!
I have been through Fallbrook quite a few times, looks pretty nice. I am seriously considering buying a lot to build a house in Fallbrook. Anyone with ANY feedback feel free to send me a message or reply to my post! Thanks!
That's one cool plane I like these kind of sizes and also a screaming 2 stroke. I have a Westfield BAE Hawk 39" span roughly 2.75lbs and got a Leo 37 in it goes like a rocket like your mustang I'm using a 8X8 APC with 10% fuel and getting 15,900rpm what are you running and what rpm?
well i said its not a good point because a gasket is a non mechanical piece, its not moving or anything so a good gasket will not fail at all. EVEN if it were to fail, depending on where on the engine it is.. nothing would happen.. might lose power but chances are the engine will still run for a while.. and another thing.. where are there more gaskets on a 2-stroke? the same gaskets are in the 4-stroke..?? i have no problems setting mixtures.. i find it within a few flights and then thats it..
Hi Troy. Thanks for doing this video. (= Looks a lot faster on here than in person. hehe. I did a few mods to the wing. I used two layers of fiber glass on the bottom center section of the wing and one layer on the top. I did a fiber glass mold for the retracts as well. Also, I put a rear wheel retract, added a rudder and removed the scoop on the bottom of the fuse. It's a really heavy plane but it flys pretty well for the wieght. I almost forgot, it's the Great Planes combat p-51 ARF.
Very fast little p51 .How much expo r using on low and high rates?

We radared this plane at 153 mph in level flight. I think you might have goofed with your software.

are they more reliable ? more moving parts in 4 stroke ...

more gaskets to fail in a two-stroke
lamage89 2 years ago
lol gaskets to fail.. not really mate thats an stupid point.
drunk2thepowerofsick 2 years ago
you sure? it happend to me with my two stroke and also there mixture is a barstard to set unlike a 4 stroke

Is it the Great Planes Mustang or House Of Balsa's as stated in the vid ? Confusing...
Strykaas 4 years ago
Great Planes. I corrected the description but a pain to go back and fix the video.
PylonFlyer 4 years ago
Yep I have finally managed to guess it by carefully inspecting the airframe on the vid (scheme, shape, etc...)
Are these Great Plane .40 sized retracts by the way ?
Your video simply convinced me to buy one straight away :-)
Strykaas 4 years ago
Nice !
What is the final weight ? Must be on the heavy side... It lands nicely though !

Scale speed = what, Mach 1.5? :-)

Did you have to make any changes to the stock plane to get this setup to work? Nice plane btw!
