  • There's a distinct lack of vaj in this video, fucking batty boys

  • hahahahaha love it boys!! Im from edinburgh myself and penny didnt drop duh!!! lolol

  • carry on dancin boys, to everyone else, up yer kilt

  • The LBGT are trying to re-write history so a younger generation will one day think pre 1960's references to "gay," "kilts", "the Gay Gordons" etc., etc., all referred to homosexuallity when in fact NONE of it ever did!

That's dishonest & aggressive of the LBGT & a shame because I'd like to think we can all live & let live, but the LBGT's stealing & publicly misrepresenting others culture, as they're doing, is not in the spirit of live & let live.

  • I don't mind if someone's LGBT [lesbian, gay, bi-sexual or transgender] if they don't negatively impact others. They're pretty aggressive though; stole the word "gay" which previously meant happy & carefree, nothing to do with sexuality at all. The Gay Gordons is an old Scottish dance which had NOTHING to do with homosexuality, neither do kilts, a traditional Scottish heterosexual mans attire.

  • Gay does mean happy, homosexuals (males) use the term to describe that they're happy and unencumbered. So we haven't lost the word's meaning. Oh I liked the video.

  • These comments sound a touch homophobic in tone also they seem lacking in a basic grasp of the English language or indeed Scottish culture which has evolved merged and toddled along for a few centuries before you lot emerged on to god's earth.

  • “Gay Gordon's” refers to a Scottish popular 19th century ceilidh folk dance where all dancers share the same steps. It in it's turn refers in part to an honorable long established Scottish regiment, made up of “Men in Kilts originally”,unfortunately now disbanded.

  • The word gay has evolved from it's carefree and happy origins which I am sure you would agree is demonstrated in this video through it's main stream interpretation of homosexuality (there is a reference to the dance group here) to a more current interpretation of something that is silly or weak nowadays, which this video does not display. If you have ever tried doing any form of technical dance you would be aware of this.

  • Therefore as a visible and valid form of celebrating male culture, stamina and team working this is a good example.

Unlike some other video choices ???

  • for god sake,Get another name....this name does not belong to you, so don't hijack it! We already can't use the word "gay" for anything, bringing to mind the WW2 song Gracie Fields song, "Wish me luck when you kiss me goodbye"..the word "gay' is in it, meaning HAPPY! This is name of a Scottish Dance, it is not yours to take!

  • @brousseaua The word 'happy' originally meant 'favoured by fortune' or 'lucky', first recorded in England in the late 14th century. The current usage of 'pleased' or 'content' didn't appear until later. In German, the two meanings still exist side by side in 'Glück haben' and 'glücklich sein'; however, in English, the sense of 'pleased' or 'content' has long since replaced the original meaning of the word.

With all due respect, are you against current English usage or people's sexuality?

  • would actually help if that was the gay gordons... and their not skirts,... their kilts... sooo different :)

  • When men in skirts dance together, what else can it be but.......The Gay Gordon?

  • mans + skirts = Edinburgh Gay Gordons
