@tkearn5000: I believe he uses a custom archtop made by luthier John Zeidler. Google his name to bring up his website. Pete often plays through a Fender blackface Vibrolux.
the whole version of "sweet and lovely" would have been nice, but i caught a taste of the melody on the organ at #20 then a touch of jimmy rainey 81 #25 and on. i love this song,he does a good job on it too. i have a johnny smith version of this on mosaic, live at a cocktail party at someones house, sounds not great but mr.smith IS.
I like that Miles Davis quote with a twist, that the guitar player did at about 1:04-1:10. I am pretty sure those are the first few notes on mile's solo on "So What" from the Kind Of Blue album.
To me it sounds more like a modified version of the riff from Duke's (or someone else's?) "Night Train." The Miles thing is 1-5-4, and this and Night Train are 1-6-5. Whichever it is, those are three good notes.
peters playing and composition has had a very personal influence on me. Not only my own playing, but my appreciation of all art forms and life. HIs music has been as important to me great literature and film. We must keep this music alive and enrich the world with valuable culture.
Dr. Lonnie ROCKS the house! He's the REAL DEAL and quite a swinger! The sound on this doesn't do justice to his marvelous playing, but thanks for posting.
We spent an evening with him, Lou Donaldson, and a bunch of other musicians recently in NYC. Doc kept everyone entertained and laughing all evening. As we boarded the huge elevator backstage at Carnegie Hall (with about 20 other people, Doc looked at me and my sisters, rubbed his eyes (pretending to cry), and said in a loud voice "MY FAMILY'S LEAVIN'." Everybody in the elevator cracked up.

I saw this band in the summer of 2006. They were hot! Wish you could see the drummer here; she was impressive.

Pete's playing is always real and not contrived. He plays tastefully and never riffs for the sake of filler.

Pete lays it down unlike so many young cats that have no connection to the blues. Well, everyone has their own taste. I love this shit!
