Not that many and if they do they are often subjected to violence and even death in most Islamic countries.

My wife and sisters, mother etc have never had any of these so called problems of going out and about without wearing veils ?

Muslim countries have some of the worst human rights records in the whole world,. In many Arab countries women are not even allowed to work in womens clothes shops, men serve them and they have to go home to try the clothes on and often are shy to take them back if they dont fit !!

As far as I have been told ,there is nothing in the koran that stipulates that women should have to wear veils and burkas, Koran says that the women should dress with '''Modesty'.

Veils and burkas are something that goes back to the culture in olden times, they were used in the desert to prevent sand being blown into the eyes , but that is not relevant in non desert type countries. There are in fact Muslim countries that ban the the full veil, eg Syria and Turkey etc.
