Bike driver and car driver to blame, both at fault, both cant read the situation
When two idiots meet this is always the consequence, Good drivers like myself have to negotiate fools like these every day, the bad driver never realises its the good drivers that keep them alive
It's really obvious who's at fault here - the car. No indicators, if he did check his mirrors, he didn't see the bike - being in the blind spot is no excuse - CHECK YOUR BLIND SPOT!!! Drivers who are that careless should be taken off the road on a permanent basis.
Not exactly the best defensive riding I've seen. If riders find car drivers to be such a menace (as admittedly in this case) then surely you must be a bit potty to put yourself in such close proximity? DOH!
Stewartx5 said it best; That was a combined effort. I'm a rider myself, thus, the rider forgot ONE key fact of life when riding a motorcycle: When it's car vs. bike, bike ALWAYS loses. Cars lose to big trucks, big trucks lose to trains, etc. etc.
In curve at 0:09, you can see another vehicle (upper right corner of video) directly in front of red car. You can also see a shadow from this vehicle at 0:11-12. Red car was evidently attempting to pass this vehicle. Given the behavior of red car (riding in the far left of the lane, crossing center line at 0:09, etc), motorcyclist should have realized red car planned to pass and not tried to pass himself. Both at fault - car didn't signal and bike tailgating, speeding, & passing improperly.
Vehicles have European license plates, mrcrankin. In Europe, and most USA states, joint responsibility which kicks in with both vehicles did something to contribute to the accident, as was the case here with car failing to signal and bike tailgating, speeding, & passing improperly. In some places, the biker would be entirely at fault since he's entirely responsible for what happens in front of him. In other words, it's his responsibility to pass vehicles in front of him safely.
By the way, mrcrankin, I'm a long-time biker myself, so I do understand how tempting it is to place blame solely on the car driver in this case. However, that's not how the police, insurance companies, or courts will view this accident. Instead, they're going to see a speeding motorcycle tailgating and passing agressively. As such, they're not just going to dump the entire thing on the car driver for failing to signal, especially when both attempted to pass at almost the same instant.
im sorry but legaly the car driver is in fout.because the car who are ovrtaken MUST let the car oor motor who is overtaking to pass and then to start the manuver to take ths car in front..! this is the law in europa...trust me.!
AND... THE motorcycle is along side the car when it moves out to pass, meaning the motorcycle was then overtaking the car, hence the reason why he got hit in the first place. The motorcycle has the right of way since he is overtaking. Yes, a motorcycle can overtake much faster and in shorter distances than a car, but the car is clearly at fault.
trust me,im truck driver and i stoped on the road clearly with left turn lite on whan half my manoever the car pull in the side of me....the jugdge say-im fout an the car was overtking me so i must stop if the car wants to pass me....crazy but true...regards....
@stewartx5 the car didnt signal or even look in his/her mirror (if they had they would have seen the bike; it wasnt in the blind spot). The idea of overtaking is you get close to the vehicle you intend to pass before moving out so that you spend less time on the opposite side of the road, and you build up speed in excess of the vehicle you intend to pass, or else you wouldn't pass it.... im not a biker, but id say the car was most certainly more to blame there, if not entirely
Both pulled out to pass at virtually the same moment (roughly 1.5 seconds apart), so car driver probably did look back and saw nothing at the time.
'.. get close to ..'
Tailgating not allowed even when passing. Same with speeding. Biker also had better visibility, so should have judged situation better. Again, both at fault.
some people should not drive for the sake and saftey of others but are too pigheaded to admit to their lack of ability they will end up killing somebody clearly the driving exam is far too easy
ive just been ran of my triumphTT600 today because i had to swerve for a 4x4 in the middle of the road on a tight bend. he didnt even stop and my bike is a mess. and so is my leg but nouts broken....hope this guy was ok.
'us' drivers? What are you all family or something. The driver jerked out obviously without checking mirrors. Im a biker and a driver and think the driver had no awareness or was trying to block the rider. Either way driving like that shows why some people should be put down.
i noticed that it is a solid line on the road. If the laws there are anything like australia's neither of them should of been on the left side of that line.
it almost looks like the BITCH in the car meant to do it...!!! I ride and I have had MORE then one ass in a car that tried to to that same thing to me...!!!
i dont think he had time to smash the window in with his elbow . . most of his skin and flesh are part of the road now. . im glad i drive a skip, box on wheels car lol
What bollocks! have you NEVER been close to the guy in front? waiting for the gap because you KNOW you will be faster or more ready and willing to overtake before the guy in front? The biker was "shit out of luck" but HE was by no means in the wrong. If was the car drive who did check, signal, check again , move
serously, take a course in motorcycle saftey. Your attitude could one day cost you your life. Motorists are not looking out for you and, as a cyclist, you have alot more to lose in the event of an accident.
Bollocks. What the fook are you talking about. the guy in this video hasn't done anything wrong. Safety skills my arse! skill is one thing, but trying to mind read somebody that going to pull out in fron of you is something else. Watch the video-- Where the fook would you have like the rider to go??? No place for him!!!!!! MUPPET!
i have been a biker for 15 years now and i dont like to critisise on other riders but the car was in front you should of waited to see if he pulled out and then gone to overtake
To me it looks deliberate, since the biker is tailgating like a dick. This is the reason I will never ride a bike on the road though, you could be as good as a world champion rider but you can't predict what the people around you are going to do....
its like them ads for look right, look left, i pull up to a t-junction( to turn right), i look right, then left, the roads clear, a straight road bout 70metrs, i pull out. oh dear. that bike was probably doing 70 ina 40, them bikes cover quarter mile in half a millisecond. tthe bikers in the blind spot of the car in video, the biker should of known that, doh
now i think it was alittle of both the cars and bikes fault but the car in front still had right of way because he was in front and i haven't heard anything about how the motor bike was tail-gating that car for that long what makes you bikers think you have right of way and going down the middle of traffic at lights that pisses me off so much im waiting for the day that one scratchs my car im going to get out and push them off there bike and steal there keys haha
He was close but that is no excuse for the dozy car driver's actions. I've had it happen to me but never been collected in this way, all mine count as near misses...luckily. Any idea where the plates on the car are from?
the biker was too close to the car and yeah it was in the cars blind spot. bit strange how he pulls out though, and he must have at least heard the bike behind him
why is it that the most expensive of cars dont have indicators fitted?most car drivers are idiots in their tin boxes who have no idea how o look for bikes as they never graduated from a bike to a car like people used to,daddy just paid for them to have a car because there "safer".Hope that the car driver had his licence taken from him or her
Just showed this to a friend who is a very experienced motorcyclist.
The bike was in the blind spot of the car, and regardless of what the car driver did or didn't do, the motorcyclist should have realised the car driver couldn't see him on that corner...
If the car driver checked her rear view mirror she'd have seen the cyclist wasnt there anymore, theres way too much of this going on on UK roads,i've been cut up so many times, without sounding sexist or anything,it's usually ALWAYS a foreighner, mum in a people carrier or twat in a suped up nova with a baked bean can on the exhaust.
The biker should have kept a lookout, and TBH as soon as I saw that car move i'd have hit me brakes, least he got the numberplate on film!
Bikers at fault there really, the position and attitude of the car in front made it pretty obvious he was looking to overtake, yeah he didnt check his mirror before pulling out, but the biker should have anticipated that.
yes but the whole point though is that the driver of the car should've checked his/her mirrors before overtaking!! the only reason bikers should anticipate it now is because there are so many sh*te car drivers around who dont use there mirrors and dont give a toss about bikers! it was the cars fault!
The bike moved into the car's blind spot.
Bike's fault.
The video was cropped to make it look as if it was the car's fault. lame attempt.

ok i agree the car should use his signals to switch lane and check mirrors and his blind spot before doing so.
