  • The p-i-m-a-o digit letter codes are from the Spanish names for those digits, except for the pinky. (The Spanish invented the Spanish guitar, not the Italians.) Here are the Spanish names.

    Pulgar

    Indice

    Medio

    Anular

¿Otro? (other?) because they call it the "dedo meñique", but that starts with 'M', so they had to use anOTHER letter that was unique. "Little" is "pequeño", and 'P' was taken. I've never seen a letter code for the right little finger before because classical guitarists don't use it.

  • Yep. Been playing around with this one for many years. This is the best tutorial I've seen. Dead on and and complete. You have a good understanding of the song and music in general. Thank you for this one! Very impressive.

  • At last, found someone who teaches this properly. Thanks.

  • Brian, is it important to pick with thumb (TMTTIT)? What if I do TAIMAM? Good lesson - thnks.

  • @maratu654 TMTTIT it is

  • Sweet...

  • thank you very much, i found all the other lessons very hard on YT since im a beginner but i can just about play this song now... just need lots more practice. very clear and awesome lesson cheers!

  • Hi,

first off, great video! But wouldn't it be more practical to play the verse with T on 4th and 5th and I, M, A on 3rd, 2nd and 1st? This way your thumb alternates only between two strings, at least in the verse.

Just a suggestion. Keep up the good work!

  • wow,thanks dude...nice teaching skills,very nice video.cool!

  • The names/letters for your fingers come from their Latin names, but it does seem weird in english.

  • Good lesson mate and the PDF was really good.
