actually, physiologically speaking, they are extremely correlated. Celion Dion has a nice voice, but powerful is not the right word for it. a powerful voice is one with more force and grit that makes you go "WHOA!" Whitney Houston is a better example of a thinner woman with a powerful voice. I sing/listen to mostly classical music and opera though, so my tastes on what a powerful voice is are pretty damn picky =)

she has a powerful voice for a pretty blonde girl, but compare her to Melanie Thornton, Jennifer Hudson or Nana Hedin (a Scandanavian singer who is WAY underrated and I definitely recommend) and she will get her ass handed to her in terms of vocal power. most of the vocal resonance of a singer comes from the nasal cavity and the space behind the cheek bones. that's why singers like Melanie with a slightly more powerful facial structure tend to have more rich, powerful voices =)
