is the jumping really necessary at the top, are there those plants there too? or did you do that just to annoy us...

I keep jumping because there are blocks up there that can kill you if touched (they're pretty much the plants you said). During the same time I'm jumping, I'm also repeatedly using the key as a "portable floor" that I can bring across with me. In order to keep that key and also not die, I have to jump and grab the key at the same time. I have to repeat this process, so I have to jump whenever I land. I also have to keep jumping because of speed cycling (but that's another story)!
