I grew up listening such a nice music. My father loved this music a lot, He liked music like this. My father bought this LP is exactly same version that i was listening for many years. It´s no easy to find same version, thanks a lot for upload this version.
What at a fabulous performance. It pays tribite to Maj.Miller, Gene Krupa (drums), and Zeke Zarchy (my Dad) on trumpet. Thank you so much for posting this. It was beautifully presented!
And you betcha...there's no music today like the Swing Era.
@alexciorici I'm glad you feel the same way I do. I'm 22 and this music makes me feel like I'm standing on an airfield in the mid 1940s in a black and white world.
@KAIROA I've got to be honest I am surprised with how many know of him. I'm at university in the UK (I'm 18) and when I played In the Mood with the door open, two of my flatmates knew what the piece was and who wrote it (and bear in mind I only asked three people if they knew, the other was from Newcastle so I anticipated Cheryl Cole as an answer... and they knew Benny Goodman: Sing sing sing and others). Nevertheless kind of sad to hear that, but maintain some hope for our youth!
20 career musicians played this song with perfection every time. Night after night for years on end. They were a hit every time. Now we have single individuals claiming to be musicians who sit at computers and "make" music with software programs. To those who think that is music in any way shape or form, I reject your reality, slap you in the face and scream at you to wake the frick up and get some culture.
@bbjornst07 Music used to be a social event. Something you did not just listen to, but lived. Now the idea of a good dance is a DJ playing screwed up rap songs. I will give credit, some rapper work really hard and have some decent work, but most of them are all image and no talent. A computer cannot substitute musical acumen.
@mapeloco54321 you are so right as glenn miller is the best and when you visit iowa make sure to stop in his home town of shenandoah and check out his bitrhplace
Please, no offence, but a friendly FYI...Clarinda was his birthplace. I'm just so grateful that there's one more of out there who are devoted fans. All the best thought to you and keep on swingin' ! :>
@TheMattwasherein1992 It's the one where Abe Simpson tell this WW2 story where he is an American soldier in the Pacific and get stranded on an island with Burns and waiting for Santa Claus to rescue them.
is there anyone on any of these "so called talent shows, that are on at the moment, ", can play any instrument, at all, they seem to be all "so called talented singers only", nothing else, so boring!!!!!!!!
This is one of Glen Miller's greatest works. It symbolizes the American people and our Armed Forces during their greatest challenge in history thus far. I'm a Vietnam vet but I've always identified more with my dad and mom's generation than with my own generation. I believe my parents generation saved our nation and the world. But I also believe many of my generation, including our "leaders" from both parties, such as Cheyney, Clinton, Rumsfeld sold out this country for their own selfish gain.
I was browsing new music today and came across this, and i guess my grandma overheard me listening and barged in and try to teach me how to dance 40's era style and it put a smile on my face to see her so happy...
and then when she was done teaching you how to "cut the rug" you passed out on your bedroom floor in exhaustion while she continued on by running around the block for 10 whole minutes.
'Apple Tree' is a different song that Glenn Miller also played and recorded. The openings of the 2 songs do sound similar. But this song is American Patrol.
Thank you to all that gave me the thumbs up!! He will be home in 8 weeks from Afghanistan. He is so ready...as well as his brother & sister and his father and !! We love & miss him so !!

I promise you that you will not regret giving my version of the song a listen, & it will truly knock you off of your feet! So please listen & enjoy! Thanks!
his music makes me particularly sad around christmas when he died is a dicotomy,is beautiful music but in conflicting times, the war is over but the toll is now being realized
i alwys remember my grandpa listening to this in a record he bought, moving his finger , swinging it around, telling me about the good ol days, where the state toook care of people, when they protected your right as an employee , btw, my coutnry never entered the war so we really enjoyed the 40s
@Syzygy60 like the US did since 1942? dont bullshit me around, war is hell, besides the rpessurover on 3rd world countriwes who could never afford going to war by the world powers was huge, jess...
iw as born to late to hear this and seen as a werido, remeber hearing this my my grandpas, telling me about the good ol times, when he sued to go dancing, back in the 40s( my country never entered the war =) ) hearing the radio novels, having a safe job and knowing that the state backed u up if they decided to fire you ect, good times indeed
tell your son to keep his weapon loaded when he gets back and aim at...no wait,I'd better not say that even in jest it may be taken seriously...nevermind u know who 2 aim at
Northtide -Born in '42 and a WWII buff and am arare of that fact - Hurricanes were fabric covered like Spads for cryin out loud.
Catch Moe's drumming in Miller's Bugle Call Rag. I don't know why he isn't listed on the great drummers site, everyone who picked up a stick is there.
You are quite right. On an only slightly related point did you know that the RAF fought the Battle of Britain largely with Hurricanes? Spitfires played an imporant part of course but the poor old Hurricane never gets any credit.
I don't know who is playing the drums but I thought Kruppa played with Benny Goodman not Glen Miller. I could be wrong. Great music whoever is playing!
and the next time I hear Harry Reid or any one(democrat) say the war is lost.I'm gonna shove my boot up their ass I'll neeed to have u stick out ur tongue so I can shine my boots

This is MUSIC !!! That drummer has GOT to be Kruppa.

@Northtide
I don't know who is playing the drums but I thought Kruppa played with Benny Goodman not Glen Miller. I could be wrong. Great music whoever is playing!

Me too Catman! B-25 liberators with a P 51 mustang escort as well. Cadillac of the skies!
jgrannell1 10 months ago
@jgrannell1 The B-25 was the Mitchell, the B-24 was the Liberator, but yeah.

I always imagined an American WW2 Navy destroyer plying the seas at high speed to the tune of American patrol.
