i love you stuf..so much...especially the ruffle skirt with the gold lace..however i bought an old model singer machine...i really have no idea how to thread it...can u recommend a site that have video demonstrating how to thread one???
you really should thread with your presser foot up. The machines have a little release that allows the tension disks to separate a little so the thread can be properly tensioned. Kudos for the one handed threading though!
hey. i have the exact same machine, and did it just like you do, but for some reason when I start sewing, the bottom of the fabric, the thread is all tangled and messed up. Has it ever happened to you or do you know what I'm doing wrong?
@lx3lally it has nothing to do with how you've threaded the top (although it does need to be correct)its your tension that needs adjusting! tighten or loosen the tension button until your stitches are neat. You'll need to adjust according to the type of fabric your sewing. Prob a bit late now but will help others reading it now.
you didn't show how to link the bobbin thread with the needle. That's what I need and you just closed the plastic case and then made it look like you could sew. It doesn't work that way. How do I get the bobbin thread to link with the needle threat? Aaaaaaaaaaagggghhhhh! I feel jipped!

hey. i love that sewing machine. i have a sewing but it's sooooooo old. i think mom's had it since before i was born (i'm 17). do you have any ideas on how i can get her to buy a new one?
@jayjay30rox Convince her that it would be an investment. My mom was convinced to get a new one when I borrowed Kathleen's sewing machine home one day, and it worked so much better than the one we had at home :)
@lx3lally IMO, good condition [REALLY] old machines are better. I prefer metal over plastic. I think plastic wears and tears too easily.I used my mom's Singer 9134 and I always had problems with it, I'm sure it worked great while it was new, but hey that's plastic. Eventually I got an older Kenmore model. Works great, it only has basic stitches, but fancy stitches aren't a necessity. Just as user friendly IMO w/ the manual(sold online too) even the net can be of service.
i also have a singer 4220 and have never been able to use it because my sister and i can't figure it out. the string always bunches in the back. i'm never going to be able to use this.
Hey is that the singer 4220? It looks slightly different from mine, your pull out draw has measurements =( I bought my first singer machine like a month ago and it doesn't work as perfect as I expected it to. Whenever I've finished sewing something the back of the fabric is always looped and knotted all the way down? I can't sew my garments properly like that =( What should I do? x x
@kittyellie You probably threaded the machine wrong. The top and bottom string are supposed to come out smoothly with the same tension. Maybe your bobbin below is winded too tightly, I forgot what model it is, i'll look later
Should help alot

@kissesnpopcorn if you tangle the bottom thread, then you made a mistake threading the top string
