In the mid 70's I Won the Eastern Divisional Drag Boat Races in Dayton Ohio w a Ebko Semitunnel (Carlson Contender pop) with a Evinrude 135 - 2 years in a row. I center mounted the steering n controls and did some trick work inside to keep the bottm straight under power. That hull was a killer outta the hole and the Merc V-bottm boys never could figure it out! Boat was clocked @ jst undr 60mph in the 1/4.
In the early mid 70's - I ran a Ebko Semitunnel (Carlson Contender Pop) w a 135 Evinrude on it. I center mounted the steering and controls and did ome "trick work" inside the hull to keep the bottom straight under power. With a modified 26" SST prop the boat would push 59 mph and it won the Eastern Divisional Drag boat races in Dayton Ohio 2 years running. (mid 70's) That Hull was unbeatable out of the hole and the Merc V-Bottom boys could never figure out how I beat them!!! I lov'd it !!!
@Netz135Ev Thats awesome! I recently added a 1500xs on the back+dual cable steer+4inch setback. It now has run an easy 69mph. I feel it will be a good 72-75 mph rig next year when I do some work to it. If you look at my other vids you will see it running the 1500 right before the lake froze over.
@snapshot12002 If you contact me @ Netz135@AOL.com - I have a pic from the 70's. We ran a full service marina out of Troy Ohio and the pic was taken there. I had planned on mounting a V6 on it ... but other projects got in the way and it never happened. Probably best - at higher speeds the boat was a hand full !!!!
If you ever get a chanch to Drag Race it - while the V-bottoms are digg'n and biting - you'll be half way down the track because the flat bottom is on plane from the punch! ;-)
these outboard motors outperform most of new outboard motors. Thats why these motors are called the Tower of power. inline 6, 2-stroke. you cant beat' em
yea, im hitting my own wakes both ways, I had to pull out just a bit I think you can hear the motor studder a bit. On the trip back I had it trimmed way up when I turned and it hopped a bunch. I have to keep the trim just right as the MPH's gain or it hops around.
Sorry bout the double post didn't kno the 1st one posted!

I'll tell you what, the video quality is incredible for 1965. What kind of camera and film was that?

Thats me last week running that 1965 boat. vid was shot on a canon point and shoot and the stills a 50d cannon. 2009 not 1965. Thanks for looking.
