The spring tension tip is a good one for newbies indeed. However, tuning your machine should always be tuned, done with a tube and a needle and a rubberband, just like you were gonna start tattooing. It may seem to run like dream when you tune like you did.. just the sole machine. But that can mess yah up when you fit the full gear on it...suddenly it won't run so good afterall. Just a tip.
A tension gauge certainly isnt necessary after years of feeling what it should feel like. For a newbee though I'd say its not a bad idea. A guage will let you see exactly what ur settings are so you can duplicate that exact tension from one machine to the next. Ive been tattooing almost 20 years and I'll still throw a guage on my machines every so often to check the tension. Also good for teaching. Just my opinion.
NO tension gage is needed, all machine spring decks are different distances, duty cycle is back spring pressure / gage , air gap is what matters, he says there are 3 main tensions but give a gage to a pro(cause none have them) and tell them you must have this tension, NOPE, they will laugh , what did people do before this gage came out ,lol, not needed, any pro, pro builder will tell you they are worthless, & a $ maker sold to poor no knowledge scratchers
@Headshothorror4488 you don't know SHIT,Tattootraining is the Best ON HERE!!!ALL YOU DO IS TALK SHIT,I think you'r MRS SHOULD FIND A BETTER TEACHER.YOU SUCK BALL'S
@Ink4life1000 Hahahaha that shows how much you know stupid kid. Where is your work ? Does it look Like his shit clown ahah . You know NOTHING about tattooing you stupid wanna be GO FUCK YOUR SELF PUSSY NEWB !!!!
What changes on the machine when U go up a gage AND down a gage in front spring ? What changes when U go up a gage AND down a gage with back spring ? How does a o-ring affect a machine when put on AND off. LIST ALL OF THE CHANGES IN PERFORMANCE ? ? List them all kid since U know so much. Learn respect kid. U think cause a guy has u-tube videos he is god even tho his work is horrible. Your a newb U have no clue what is right BITCH.
@Ink4life1000 AHAH your a hack !! Your a newb with your new account with 1 friend going around talking shit telling people who to listen to when u know NOTHING..Also i dont teach fuck up. He started talking shit to me long ago kid so mind your own shit moron.I suck so please show me your great work ? Cause what i have up came out perfect so for u to talk shit shows your immaturity. Put your work up pussy ? Fucking hack !! There is no "have to" HACK.
@Ink4life1000 Where are the answers kid ? See you have no clue about the questions i asked you so stop talking shit to people that have 8000% more knowledge then you with machines. The clown with the horrible clown tattoo taught you well !!!!!!!! hahah moron.
you people talk all this shit about "scratchers"..altho i do agree that some people shouldnt be caught dead with a tattoo machine, there are some that tattoo just for the love of the art and these videos are in place to help the people that will still tat regardless of it being illegal. at least they can get information that will help them along the way. ask how many pro old school tattooist started out scratching and you may just get a suprise.. not even half the shops know any of this material
very nice... alot of people talk too much about the settings, in the end people just want to know how to set the stroke and speed for liners, shaders and packers...
no machne is exactly the same as the other, so all the talk about grams in tension and angles in front spring is kinda worthless.
And why is soo many "pros" so secretive, are they afraid they'll run out of customers or the price for their tattoos might fall?
Come on... it's ART and we are all artists. we got our favorites anyway
@TATTOOTRAINING i know it's the rear spring, i think you missunderstood what i wrot or maybe i wasn't clear enough, Whe i said tensions i automaticaly mean REAR spring, sure maybe some MAY think about tension in front spring, but i think most people know i was refferering to the REAR spring, about the front spring i was talking about the angle, stumbled upon a few "pro's" bullshiting about the angle of them.... (LOL)...
And why do you get mad and block people when they correct you?
Your teaching kids to scratch, you got an old-way-of-thought when it comes to tattooing, the arrt is evolving you know. new studies results in new ways of doing things.
Don't get sad when you get corrected, be a man and dare to face the truth and changes.. you know, evolve. teach good stuff, not old stuff. PEACE
And, my English is bad because i'm not English, LOL
@AttilaMacan no wrong again , it is because machines are not the same that knowing what range of tension in grams the rear spring is important. machine are not exactly the same but there is really only 3 main settings and each of them has minor adjustments for the operators preference. tattooing is tattooing a tattoo artist is different . a tattooist cant paint and a painter cant tattoo , and headshop cant do either
@TATTOOTRAINING i have to disagree when you say a tattoo artist cant paint! If you cant branch ou,t not as a tattooist...but an artist...You shouldnt be tattooing in the first place. I believe you must first be an artist before you become a tattoo artist. muti media!!!
@tattoosuperior1 you didnt get the wording correct , i said " tattooist cant paint " i did not say tattoo artist , i was making the point that people too easily use the title tattoo artist , when they dont practice any other media . a tattooist does tatoos a tattoo artist is a artist who also does tattoos , thats why the license says tattoo technician not artist . we are on the same page
I never went to school only the language-classes and 2 art courses, oil painting and croquis painting, that helped me alot when i was young & restless working with spraycans and airbrush, hehe, i got my hands on a nice machine when i was 15 or so.
So without the genuine intressts in colors and shapes or those art background , i think i would have made alot of ugly pieces today. Nice videos tattosuperior1, like the whipshading video! More art less crime! PEACE!
sleepy1904619- tattooing is not for everybody. u would be able to figure out what you are doing wrong for the needle to get stuck in the skin if ur a tattoo artist.
practice skin is alot more durable then human skin....Which mean you will have to turn up the voltage on the powersupply. Also adjust the depth of the needle with the contact point at the top of your machine. A small gap is needed for pulling a line. Treat the practice skin like real skin.....meaning apply A and D ointment and practicing all methods used for the tattooing process. Be cautious or your needles and let the machine do the work with the guide of your hand.
brass sucks as a contact screw..works but get too dirty...and it looked to me like the machine machine had enough throw...just depends on what your going for, guess was going for a shader but it looked good for a liner to me.
because we need more tattooers?? lets tell the whole world how too tattoo!! we dont have enough art fags with no tattoos doing it already!!!

Everything you say is correct when it comes to tuning.
However, you forget one most important part.
The Tube and needle and rubberband.
Always tune your coil machine WITH the full gear on it.
It might seem tuned fine now..but it may be running like crap when you put on the full gear.
The machine needs to be tuned with all the tension and friction and drag..it encounters during tattooing.
Only than, can you really see if it's tuned right.
For the rest.... good video.

hey? ,, what metal is the contact screw? stainless?
ize09153379301 2 years ago 2
brass. Lower conductive metal makes for a smother machine with less spark.
