  • So what size boat and how many animals and how many people did God drown and why does the bible deceive us in this story as so many have believed this was a global flood with all human and animal life being drowned by God if this is not the clear reading of scripture. For the record, a literal account of the flood presents a logistic nightmare and I can not believe it.

  • Robert Audrey talks about the Mediterranean basin being flooded when the gibraltor 'plug' burst allowing the Atlantic to flood the area. The rivers flowing into the Med Sea, Nile, Rhone,

etc could barely make up for the evaporation.

You did a very good job!!! You should be

    commended for your open mindedness

    and your rational logical approach.

  • - cont. In Sumerian "older version flood story" Utanapishtim is the "Noah" character, the story is very similar, except there is more than 1 god, and the flood lasts about 7 days. the interesting thing is they do not mention a world flood, but a meditteranean flood that falls more in line with the Flood Basin Theory. Given that the Sumerian version is a few thousand years older than the Biblical version, makes it a bit more reliable.

  • Problem 1: An australopithecine being intelligent to survive such a flood. Their intelligence was on the rise, but to build an ark?

Question 1: Can you send me a link on the flood geology? All my searches bring up is creationist literature. I'm curious as to how it could flood 20 feet over the tallest mountain.

Question 2: Doesn't the Bible say that the flood dissipated eventually? I mean, I could be wrong.

  • Balmung, once you accept that the flood myth is about australopithecines, then the rest of the details, are probably not exactly like the bible. The story is a myth, like the garden of eden, it existed but not in the way the bible says. But of course the bible is a metaphor. The exact details are not important. Audrey speaks of the original garden of eden, which probably was inhabited by australopithecine types, when there was only 1 contintent green and abundent.
  • If you get too caught up with trying to

disprove the Bible, you will miss the

    whole point.

  • @BalmungSama0 The floods were in many places, due to daming of

of water from glaciers, when the daming broke releasing the

stored water, many places were flooded. The Persian Gulf was maybe

1/4 the size it is today and there were communities there that are

    now flooded.

Like most things in the bible, the Flood is background for another

story. If you lived in ancient times and were flooded like Doggerland

it might seem as though the Flood was happening all over

    the world at same time.

  • 20 feet over the highest mountain kabane

  • just yesterday i was reading about the Flood on the net somewhere (forgot where) but the biggest problem with a local Flood that i see is this:

after the Flood God promised to never flood the world again. therefore if it was a local Flood we have two options: it was truly a worldwide Flood or God is a liar.

  • World translates in Hebrew to land. He would never flood the land again. Ok, so since the flood was in the Meditterannean, he can't have flooded it. It is already filled.

  • Hi Kabane52,

My understanding is that the last time the Med basin was flooded was about 12,000y/a. I guess the question is, would people remember the history, orally transmitted, for thousands of years? One thing I don't know: when Gibraltar broke and the med was flooded, how long did it take for the whole basin to become filled? That is an important Q. :)

  • Very intereting, something to consider. First off, just to be clear you think that God broke the straight? Secondly this model doesn't make me throw out the world flood model because If God is making a giant flood in the first place (through godly powers) then he could certainly generate and destroy H2O molecules, even with salt content if need be. God doesn't haveto confine his actions on earth, to earth physics.

  • I understand that God can break laws of physics. My problem is that there is absolutely no evidence of a global flood.

  • and since when have Christians needed evidence?

  • Sure there is, over in the pacific northwest there are these things called the palous hills (i think thats how its spelled) which are made up of sedimentary materials and from the air exactly resemble the little ripples made on beaches from waves. these hills are hundreds of miles away from the ocean...

  • Your explanation of how a global flood could work is nothing short of godding up the gaps, filling in an holes of evidence with "God did it".

  • National Geographic ran a story on the theory that the Mediterranien Sea burst through what are now the Straights of the Bosporus filling the basin of the valley that is now the Black Sea.

  • I never said that the flood didn't kill all but 8

  • I agree with most of what you say in your videos, but this one I would respectfully disagree with. If it was a local flood, why the need for an ark? Why not just tell Noah to move a few hundred miles? Also, doesn't the Bible imply that the purpose of the flood was to kill everyone but 8 people so there could be a new start (Gen. 6:6-8, 13-14; 7:21-23)?

  • simple answer: allegory and or metaphor.
