  • it looks like Nighthawke is the only one that knows whats going on

  • again since i was the person who worked on this engine we had a malfunctioning dump valve and malfunctioning fuel nozzle which caused fuel to pool at the bottom of the combustion camber. once the engine started its threw the fuel out the back and ignited it. made it look like an afterburner but it not. the engine had a screen in front of the intake to prevent foreign object ingestion. besides the engine is old and just above idle not enough suction to pull a human in to the intake

  • ok dude, you ran right in front of a running jet engine, ....gumbo anyone?

  • That guy... ran infront...

Is the air intake not in the conventional spot?

  • That's a hot start of an engine, perfectly safe on the engine if the EGT's don't get too high. This is the result if excess fuel has pooled inside the burner cans and they kick the igniter. The dump valve then cycles, causing the excess fuel to be purged, making for a big flame show. Mostly harmless, save for the turkeys too close the exhaust, then they get their hair burnt to a crisp.

  • nothing special... nothing unusual...

  • You know what I hate? Sideways videos. Pain in the ass.

  • how did he not get sucked into the intake?

  • Uh oh, was that a finger I saw at 0:18?

  • A prime example of what NOT to do with a jet engine at 22 seconds

  • i never seen so many dumbass together...near an engine like it, without noise'sprotection. look that guy ran !!!! and so many plane near...crazy peoples

  • I has bass boost or w/e it's called and that was awesome

  • This is Aviation high school, 'im a senior there now, when was this vid taken? we dont run jets anymore, only turboprops and receps

  • Who the fuck cares. The guy cheering is a doucher.

  • ROFL WHAT AN LUCKY IDIOT!!@@@

  • Klomp brakpan air mackies.

  • WOW there has to be some sort of shield or something infront of the engine

  • I dunno really but does very much look like excess fule being burned eh !!

  • he just ran in front of the engine LMAO very smart guy

  • dam!!!!!!I HAVE HEADPHONES AND I FUCKEN CRANKED IT UP ALL THE WAY I MEAN DAM!

  • There is a screen that is placed on the nose for testing, which keeps birds and humans from being sucked into the rotors.

  • why in the *$%&@ do people use video cameras sideways?

  • ah AV.. miss them days.. i cant belive that engine is still doing that.. its fuel puddling up in the bottom thats igniting.. its always been doing that.. av grad 2001

  • ah AV.. miss them days... i cant belive that engine is still doing that! av grad 2001

  • holy crap if he'd of got sucked in...lol.

  • WHAT A FUCKING RETARD?!?!?!?!?!?! he ran infront of the turbine

  • 00:21 how close can you get to it without getting pulled toward it?

  • Which engine is it?

  • You smart guy try to run behind a running engine and if you don't burn like a chicken leave a comment for me...

  • dam how many dbs is that?

  • I can't belive that guy ran in front of a running engine. Could have been mince meat out the other end.

  • I thik there is little protection fence in front of the engine air intake

  • Did you want him to run behind it?

  • that's what i noticed too!! he is just crazy...

  • Theres a screen that is put in place for testing over the intake. The guy, all though not his greatest idea was never in any danger.

  • There is a cone of safety around the engine intake where it is safe to walk. Everyone who commonly works with jet engines is trained to identify this boundary and use it when working around the engine. However, there is no safe cone behind the engine. If he were to attempt walking around the engine from behind he would have been blown away like a sheet of paper, and probably burned. So really, the only way for him to get to whatever it was that he was messing with was to walk around the front.

  • @Timmieman81 its just barely getting to idle and it VERY likely has a metal screen to prevent such accidents

  • did that guy just run directly infront of a running jet engine?

  • yes

  • i know that dood is a fucking retard for doing that hasnt he seen what happens to people that run infront of the intake

  • @nicklking i noticed that too. LOL

  • it didnt blow!! its the afterburner for the jet! failed video :/

  • you are correct

  • Sweet, loved the crowd's response.

That might be a smallish engine, but it was a bit stupid to run infront of it while it was spooling up like that!

  • daaaaaman, I want one

  • That moron ran in front of it? People get sucked into those things.

  • im suprised that he walked in front of it!

  • why is everybody arguing against the guy who claims hes acctully worked on it! i mean come on guys yours smart but im thinking he knows what hes talking about too!

  • was it a good idea for that guy to run in front of the intake?

  • so if the dump valve failed then the flame at around 5 seconds shouldnt have showed right?

    i thought that was abnorma---

    *reads description and comments*

    ...........*shuts up*

  • almost like an afterburner

  • thats not afterburner...

  • this is normal....

    the engine dont blow,

    just burn fuel...

    daaaaaaaaaaaa..

    all jet engine do this...

    .......nothing to say..........

  • question did u work on this engine?????????? no right.......exactly shut up we had a malfuctioning dump valve ... a dump valve prevents that flame out daaaaaaaaa

  • @avmech8420 daaaaaaaa!

  • lol i was there thats was in aviation high school this year

  • na this was one year ago

  • I bet you feel dumb now for saying you were there but you actually weren't. Not too cool anymore are you?

  • What's the dump valve (I know woefully little about jet engines...)

  • its a valve in in the burner section that dumps out any excess fuel that built up at the bottom of the burner can

  • Oh, OK! Thanks!

  • ohhh i get it the dump valve failed therefor leaving fuel in there causing the flames right?

  • So the fuel just puddles until it lights off?

  • Ah, nevermind, you say that a couple comments down.

  • Thats just the fuel hitting the ignitors after the engine hits the proper rpms, this is normal.

  • no the dump valve failed during operation leavinga puddle of fuel in the burner cans when it ignited all that left over fuel was shot out the back

  • you all sound like you know what your talking about, me i don't know anything about nothing. so keep educating me.

  • that sounded like it was deafening loud

  • lol i wouldnt have walked in front of that lol

  • what happend
