  • Lately, I've noticed a proliferation of movies dealing with apocalyptic themes: Indpendence Day, Knowing, The Happening, Andromeda Strain, Resident Evil, 2012, Jericho (TV Series), etc. I've been thinking if there is something occuring at a subconscious level in society that is driving filmmakers to produce the "end times" movies. I don't have an explanation but clearly something is going on. Perhaps cinema is acting like a precursor to some major event about to happen?
